One week using "Wet Ones" with Benzethonium Chloride
Posted , 128 users are following.
I have been using Wet Ones as recommended by Lynda79 (Clean eyes 4 times daily using 1/4 wet one) for one week
I can report the following.
Initial State:- Eye irritation/soreness/dryness including corneal ulcers, etc which I have had for over 2 months continually. Requiring washing approx 3-4 times daily with warm water, baby shampoo, eye drops etc..
When starting with the Wet Ones, I initially felt slight stinging around the rim of the eye, but this stopped after 24 hrs use.
After 3 days:- A lot of relief, maybe rinse eyes with just warm water if they felt dry.
After 7 days:- I have forgotten that I have blephoritus. Have to remind myself to clean eyes with Wet Ones.
I will continue to use the wet ones, now cutting down to 3x daily as recommended by Lynda79, and will update again next week. Hope this helps somebody, and many thanks to Lynda79 for sharing this.

I just started using the Wet Ones (no generics, the real stuff) for a week now and my left eye is much better!! I do wear contacts so only use it in the morning and wait 10 minutes before putting in then contacts then again when I go to bed at night. I do believe I am seeing an improvementa and it's not my imagination!! Also using Castor Oil on my lids when I go to sleep. Since I work at home, I do not wear makeup every day. Back when I got the staph I think some of it was related to not completely taking my makeup off every night and using mascara tubes too long. Now get a new tube on the 1st of every month.
I will be happy to give an update in a few weeks after being on this for a month or so. Thank you again for your help!!! Blessings to you both!

Just a point to add, I used throw away mascara wands and never put a used one back into the new mascara. I also used 2 wands, one for each eye. As you said 1 eye can be worse off.
After I killed it, I use 1 wand (throw away) but on both eyes. I still do not put it back into the new mascara ( I buy new one each month too).
When I did it started again. Just took a day or two and it was over but I was terrified, yet, I found my trigger for me. Yes, I did leave it on a time or two and never again for that either.
The wands can be bought online. I buy hundreds. Fear is a great teacher too. You can reinfect if using single wand and same mascara even if changing each month. For me, Staph loved my mascara as a growth medium.
Be sure and use 2 washcloths (1 for each eye). I used white ones to be able to bleach them. A doctor online actually said to use 2 washcloths too.
Hope this info helps you,

Wet Ones have helped me to clear my eyes. From week one. I'm down now to only wiping my eyes at mornings and nights, and this is my first three days in a row using makeup. Because I curl my eyelashes, I have to wear water-proof mascara (I use disposable wands, one for each eye and have marked my mascara tubes so I can remember to throw them every month). I use oily based mascara remover pads (almay) again, one pad per eye, after that, I wipe my eye lids with mild non oily based make-up remover pads, again one pad per eye (I read the ingredients and they are the same as in the wipes for eyelids prescribed by the doctor, but much way cheaper), and then I wipe my eyes with wet ones. This has been my night routine. So far, my eyes and eyelids look good with no signs of blepharitis. I did 3 and1/2 weeks of 4 times a day wet ones, and this is my first week of only days and nights, I'm still not willing to give up the wet ones altogether because like Linda says, if the infection (staph) is not completely gone, it may come back with a vengeance. I have not done any antibiotics orally. I'm monitoring the inside part of my bottom eyelids, because I could see white spots in them, and I still have a tiny one on my left eye. I'm hoping it doesn't get worse now that I'm trying to wear mascara again! I definitely look sick when I don't, or at least tired so I want to try going back to normal make-up days. I'll keep you posted.

Thought of another issue after talking to my daughter. When you curl your lashes are you wiping the eye curler with the wipes? Should do it before using it and after using it. Can you buy extra pads for it? You could clean it better if taken out.
You may be able to reinfect yourself by using the curler. After you kill it would be better time to use it but stil clean it like I mentioned.
Hope this helps you,

Honjon used the UK hand wipes. I used the US ones. The US ones have .3% Benzethonium Chloride in them. Honjon killed his too with the UK ones.
That made me look into why both were working Both have Quats in them. That kills Staphylococcus. That is what causes Blepharitis on the eyes.
Google these words for yourself.
Just make sure it has Benzethonium Chloride in them and ask the chemist if it equals .3%. There are cheaper hand wipes with less of the Benzethonium Chloride in it.
Make sure you do not have sensitive skin or are allergic to shampoos, detergents, fabric softeners. Less than 20% of people are allergic.
The ones from the US are in a red package (now they are yellow too) and can be ordered online from drugstore sites.
Hope this info helps you,

Just wanted to give you an update on my eyes. I started using Wet Ones in July after reading your post. Began to seee immediate results. My eyes were looking the best they had in years. I had to stop using them in August and September due to some eye surgery and it came back wose than ever. I started again in October and now November. My eyes are doing great. It seems to have cured both the Blepharitis and the dry eye. I now am doing myes twice a day and have not attempted eye makeup just yet. I have eyelashes growing back too. I ma so grateful you put this information out there and that I found it. When I go to my regular optometrist in January I wonder what he will think?

For months I have been asking.the forum if anyone has had the Blephex procedure. Why are people so hesitant having this done.
Anyway, there is a place in Nottingham called Park Vision who have the machine. This email arrived two days ago informing me of what is involved. £45 for one hour to include follow up a week later.. Maybe 2/3 within a year depending how successful the first one is. They say they have achieved 100 per cent success rate, which I find , a little hard to believe. The other thing is, I was informed, on Internet it only took 7 - 10 mins.
Where are you going for this? Do you live in the UK.
im looking fo somewhere in Kent, anywhere in Kent and I will definitely have this procedure. We still don't have anyone, yet who has had this done. Here's hoping. Keep in touch.
