One week using "Wet Ones" with Benzethonium Chloride

Posted , 128 users are following.

I have been using Wet Ones as recommended by Lynda79 (Clean eyes 4 times daily using 1/4 wet one) for one week

I can report the following.

Initial State:- Eye irritation/soreness/dryness including corneal ulcers, etc which I have had for over 2 months continually. Requiring washing approx 3-4 times daily with warm water, baby shampoo, eye drops etc..

When starting with the Wet Ones, I initially felt slight stinging around the rim of the eye, but this stopped after 24 hrs use.

After 3 days:- A lot of relief, maybe rinse eyes with just warm water if they felt dry.

After 7 days:- I have forgotten that I have blephoritus. Have to remind myself to clean eyes with Wet Ones.

I will continue to use the wet ones, now cutting down to 3x daily as recommended by Lynda79, and will update again next week. Hope this helps somebody, and many thanks to Lynda79 for sharing this.

    Hello Honjon and everyone else.

I found this site and it has been a blessing.  I am 2 1/2 weeks into using  Wet Ones and they are the only thing that got this under control.  I am using it 3 times a day now and that seems good.  What I have found is with all the drops, creams etc that only gave me brief recovery and now using Wet Nap, my eyelids are very dry and cracked.  Does anyone know of something to use on the eyelids to bring them back to normal?  Thanks!

      Dear Nora,

You can cut down to 2 times a day and still kill it. Several people told me they did that.

Are you using the Wet Ones with .3% Benzethonium Chloride in them. Some handwipes have different ingredients if a store brand.

Coconut oil could possibly help. Look it up. It can be used to take mascara off so should be O K on your skin eye area.

Make sure you use throw away wands (1 for each eye) when wearing mascara too.

      Hope this helps,

I am 23 years old and suffer (I think) from blephartis.

I know I have mild rosacea and heard these two conidtions are commonly linked with each other.

Anyways, I just purchased some of these "Wet Ones" wipes with the .3% Benzethonium Chloride and will see how it goes.

    My symptoms:

    - Itchy eyelids

    - Redness around eyes

    - Eye bags under eyes

    - Feels like there is liquid stuck in my eyes? When I compress my eyelids I can heard liquid squishing around.

    - Not much crust

    - Dry eyes

Also I want to add that it is mostly the area right above the eye and below the eyebrow.

Hi Honjon, may I ask which Wet Ones you use? I'm in the UK. I have been able to get the ones with 0.0937 of BC in them? Your help would be appreciated.

      Dear rosemarie,

You can order the wipes on-line from a drugstore, pharmacy (chemist) site.

Others on this site have done this. I live in the US so don't know my way around that area.

      Hope this helps,

Hi Lynda. With all this cleaning and washing, does anyone know of a cream

as a moisturizer  for the lids. Mine are very dry. Thanks for all your advice over this last year.

      Dear Mary,

You can cut down the number of times you use the wipes per day. Several have killed it using them only 2 times a day. It just takes a few months.

Also, after 10 minutes of wiping your eyes with the wipes you can rinse off. The killing time I read was 10 minutes of application.

Use some moisterizer for the eye area. Check makeup places for something natural. It does cost around $40.00 or more for a small bottle.

There are natural oils that people use too. Perhaps someone on this site can tell you what they use.

      Hope this helps a little,

      Dear Jeanette,

I am doing O K and I go about 5 days a week to see the person in the rest home to make sure she is being treated O K. My daughter is going tomorrow with me to cut her hair and them I stay to help feed her lunch.

My husband just told me that the eye doctor told him he had Blepharitis. He told him a bunch of things to do. My husband thought to himself I am going to use the wipes. After just 2 times he said he can see so much better. He was getting like Honjon and eyes getting blurry. He thought it was allergies. My brother told me about his eyes after surgery and he has it too. Both are using the wipes and doing great. I told my husband and brother to do it 2 times a day for 3 months. They are 2 happy campers.

Glad to hear that your M/L is doing good.

So glad to hear from you and really glad to hear your eyes are better.

      Thanks for keeping in touch.

      Your friend,

      Lynda
