One week using "Wet Ones" with Benzethonium Chloride
Posted , 128 users are following.
I have been using Wet Ones as recommended by Lynda79 (Clean eyes 4 times daily using 1/4 wet one) for one week
I can report the following.
Initial State:- Eye irritation/soreness/dryness including corneal ulcers, etc which I have had for over 2 months continually. Requiring washing approx 3-4 times daily with warm water, baby shampoo, eye drops etc..
When starting with the Wet Ones, I initially felt slight stinging around the rim of the eye, but this stopped after 24 hrs use.
After 3 days:- A lot of relief, maybe rinse eyes with just warm water if they felt dry.
After 7 days:- I have forgotten that I have blephoritus. Have to remind myself to clean eyes with Wet Ones.
I will continue to use the wet ones, now cutting down to 3x daily as recommended by Lynda79, and will update again next week. Hope this helps somebody, and many thanks to Lynda79 for sharing this.

Hi there,
Does anyone have any recommendations as far as whether it's safe to use Wet Ones if you wear contact lenses?
Thanks in advance!

Hi. Wet Ones have been discontinued. This Company have decided to put alo Vera
into all, which does not work. Large 40 pack £2.O9 , no more. They now are charging
£1.00 for 12 tissues with Alo Vera which does Not work. My eyes are so bad since they changed everything.
Im so angry, so have decided to report them to the Media after letting thousands of people down. Also Consumer Rights have been in touch. How could they do this.
answer: PROFITS!

Try ordering online from Amazon and get the red box of individual hand wipes with .3% Benzethonium Chloride in them. That is what I used to kill the Bleph and I am in the US.
Hope this helps,

Dear niki,
I do not have it any longer and I am careful about my eyes now. I buy new mascara each month and never double dip. I still use throw away wands but I can use one for both eyes. I take makeup off as soon as I get home. I did not miss a day of that over 3 months of using the wipes. The last couple of months were just twice a day so not bad.
If a person uses them for a few weeks then stops it will come back. It does take a while to kill it but is so worth the effort. Tea Tree Oil is an alternative to the wipes if someone is allergic to them. Under 20% of people cannot use the wipes. There are other products that have Benzethonium Chloride in them that are mentioned on this site too.
I just posted what I used and it worked for me so thought others might give it a try and they have. Many have had success and others were allergic. Some people have sensitive skin too so they should not give it a try.
Hope this helps,
Lynda79

I have one more question. Did you have Dry eyes symptoms because of blepharitis? Burning eyes when you close eyes? Does the Wet Ones can help for it? Because I got dry eyes after 5 months of blepharitis
Btw. Thank you so much for your time and help!
the best!

Dear niki,
Can't remember that one. I do think the dry eye was first as that is probably why the problem did not wash out of my eye as usual. The mascara I think was old that I used or I did not wash it off. Whatever the reason I have dry eye now and do not have Blepharitis. I only had the terrible itching on my lashes. I did not have burning eyes. I do use preservative free eye drops even in the middle of the night.
Keep using your eye drops for moisture. Dr told me you can use preservative free ones every half hour if I wanted to.
Hope this helps,

Thanks so much! could not find wet wipes of any brand that had the correct % . I will check again on Amazon. My prior post from 6 days ago explains my situation. I did get another appointment with a very reputable Doctor in a nearby city , tho' have had to wait until next Wed. Consequently, I am only using moist heat, massage and sterile eye drops until the appointment. No more lashes have fallen out tho' , one eye feels s quite uncomfortable ... Not to mention , the lashless eye is unsightly.( Oops: a pun. sort of). I am embarrassed to admit how troublesome I am finding not being able to use eye make up. I look like a mole:)! Has anyone else been instructed to cease eye makeup? bh1

Dear bh1,
I found my blepharitis to be a Staph infection. I used makeup including mascara while killing it too.
My daughter used the Wet Ones, antibacterial handwipes, to kill her stye that was forming. She said it was gone in 2 1/2 days but she used the wipes for 4 days to make sure.
You just have to be careful if you have sensitive skin as will not be able to use them.
If you are allergic to detergents, or fabric softeners or lanolin or aloe you cannot use them.
Let me know if you want that info if you begin using the wipes. The UK wipes have Benzalkionum in them and many have said they are harsher. The ones with .3% Benzethonium Chloride can be ordered online.
Hope this helps,

Thanks Lynda, I am now getting some relief from stepped up massage and steam so will hold off on wet wipes for just a few more days. The lanolin might clog pores. If this doesn't work, I will give wet wipes a try. I appreciate all this research you have done! bh1

WET WIPE WASH
I am amazed that in this current world of technological and medical excellence, when we can send mankind to different planets, build robotic beings, conceive babies in test tubes and rebuild body parts, we cannot resolve such a simple issue (in comparison) as my 6 years old chronic dry eye /bleph condition. More amazing that it takes a cheap soggy well known wipe to actually do the job. Who needs progress!
Longer story shorter - I am under Specialist/Eye Hospital eventually diagnosed Chronic Dry Eye/Bleph/floppy eyelid sydrome/over production of tears (quantity not quality), being told it would be life long issue and nothing could be done apart from heat pads/baby shampoo eye wash as a vigorous health routine!. I have constant soreness, pain, redeye, red skin, swollen lids, watering, loss of eyelashes with misdirectional growth and I have spent a fortune purchasing almost all lotions and potions from chemists and online in an attempt to try to help with the discomfort. I have had to do my own lengthy research on the internet to resolve this, as doctors have done nothing to help (shame on them). They presbribed the usual over the counter cheap comfort drops.
So it was with great interest and surprise that I read about Wet Ones wipes. This is end of week one and I have followed the "Wet Wipe Wash" and am happy and amazed to say that there is an improvement. This is the first week in 5 years that I have had a very low level of pain and less watering, and I would say that for a while during the day I did not have to focus on it, which in itself is rare, as this has been a constant unwanted companion. I usually daily use eye drops about every 15 minutes to try for relief, and bottles that should last 2 months are gone in days, but I have used them sparingly since starting this routine. I also do one wash a day with a mix pea sized spot of baby shampoo/200mls approx water and 1 drop of pure tea tree oil, wipe it along eyelashes with cotton tip.
I am now hopeful for the future, even though I have a long way to go, that I can get on top of it and hopefully stop the pain and that my eyelashes will grow back. All in all a big heartfelt thank you to everybody who has written their story, which is helping all of us to acquire healthy, pain free eyes once again. Never thought it would happen. I will follow up on this.

There is more money to be made if you manage the disease rather than cure it.....I don't even blame the doctors. ....they only know what they are taught.
My blepharitis was cured starting with wet wipes and ending with manuka honey.....
