Hello fellow hippies

It is now just five months since my RTHR and I think I'm back to normal. So hands up all you hippies who think, as I do, that, as a reward for my extraordinary courage and being a model patient,  my wife should now allow me to purchase that lovely little classic sports coupé that I've seen for sale (quite cheaply) on the Internet.

Of course you deserve a big reward. But I suspect that your partner deserves an even bigger one. So ... be careful what you wish for!

Seriosuly - congrats on this milestone. It is good to hear - I go in Feb 19th and appreciate hearing more about the good stories emerging from our growing community.

Keep the faith and ... DO NOT BREAK  A LEG.

My wife got a fresh car in November and I helped to pay for it.

All the best for your op., you'll be glad you did it.

Want mine? it needs a lot of TLC, it's in pieces at the moment.

Must get around to restoring it.

      Hi Gaham

That's lovely, but how on earth are you going to get in it?

This is the car I want.

Well, as I'm well over 6 foot, and the car (1969 Lotus Europa II) was designed for Colin Chapman who was about a foot shorter, the only way in is to take the seat out and sit on the floor - which is contoured perfectly to sit on.

      Hi Graham

We have two comfortable modern cars which I love to drive, but I owned several rare classic cars before I met Hazel. You must understand that these ankerings for something silly and impractical yet beautiful and sporty never go away. Nevertheless, it appears that her indoors cannot agree and she must be obeyed. sad

In response to the Lotus, or the Rocket ?

I still find it amazing that the motorbike engine at 2300cc was 50% bigger than the one in the 1470cc Lotus.

Such power - thank goodness it had superb brakes and was fantastically stable even at 5mph.

    derek54514,

I know what it makes me if I assume, but I'm assuming all went well with the THR. Great for you and family, another assumption, all will progressively get better (here's to hoping) figured you've already figured on this, or not.  If your surgery cut or damaged a nerve (like mine did) working a clutch will be a problem, an automatic is key for me, my drop foot syndrom or whatever Dr.s call it result of the THR on the left hip left me only able to drive an American, gas with right foot.  Hey not all of us were cut out to be rally , drag or motocross racers. In my dreams I occasionally flew jet fighters. I'm sure with todays microprocessors just about anything money can buy can be done for you. Wish all your dreams come true and do not let anger play ANY part in your life.

      Hi Andy

My THR did go extremely well and I am so glad I had it done.

Sorry to hear about your problems and hope things soon improve for you.

All the best from Derek and Hazel
