So i started taking orlistat as a last result to kick start me into loosing alot of extra weight. So far i have lost 14lb im pleased with that as without them i would be no where near that loss. Also was ill over xmas/new year so didnt take them for 3 weeks, i was sure i had gain back some of my initial 9 lb loss so was suprised when i stepped on the scales. Is everyone following low cal diet along side the tablets? anyone else finding snacks hard?? ive been having ryvitas with a little bit of fat free cattage cheese and a slice of ham, greek style fat free yogurt, and the obvious fruit and veg anyone else got any ideas, starting to feel like im eating the same thing day in day out!! would love to hear how others are getting on

@smiler45 You won't get the orange oil if you eat the right things you only get that when your eating too much fat

Thanks both, on week 1 I lost 7 lbs, that made me determined to get good results at my my next weeks weigh in. I always think week 1 is hardest but when you get into it there are lots of lovely foods that are not high in calories or fat that you can enjoy. To date, I have not had any side effects from the tablets, my gp told me that as long as you eat the right diet , you won't always have the orange oil side effect. I will let you all no if I lose any more in the next couple of weeks. Good luck all x

    Hi,

I have just taken my first orlistat and am terrified, have heard such horror stories. A colleague soiled herself at work this morning, probably not a good idea to start them today after I was told that. Wish me luck I have a holiday booked for the 10th of May and would love to lose a stone before then. I'm currently a 14 and want to be a 12 for the holiday and a 10 by the summer. Congratulations to all you guys that have lost weight smile

    Gem x

Hi there everyone have been reading all your comments from the different posts.

There all amazing! I took my first orlistat last night and have taken one with every meal today and so far no side effects. Keep getting really worried about experiencing any of the bad side effects, but touch wood hopefully won't. I'm not put anything in my mouth that is more than 5g in the per 100g. I'm also watching the calories I'm consuming. I attempted to start dukan diet (suggested by doctor)and was trying to just eat meat end up having some carbs though and that's when I realised wasn't for me. I then began a search on the Internet into medication which will help weight loss and that when I come across orlistat. I found it on the nhs website then after reading looked for a forum and found this. I'm so glad all you ladies post on here as following finding this I booked my doctors Monday afternoon and told him what I'd been doing and mentioned orlistat and he agrees straight away and give me a prescription . Although dukan diet wasn't for me lost. 4lbs in one week (Monday weigh in day) so my starting weight for dukan is 20 stone 1lb. I'm 5"6 so got a way to go, this is my second daon orlistat and so far just doesn't really feel like a diet if that sounds weird. So just want to thank all you ladies as I it wasn't for you wouldn't have even no about this. Been in a very dark place about my weight my perception of the way i look. i just hope this is going to work and im gonna stick to it like glue! Any hints and tips would be great! By the way I'm nicola 25 Peterborough hope to hear from you soon x

@nikki281088 Hello i was near enough your weight (also same height) when i started and am now a 12-14(Jan 2013 i was a 22-24) the weight will come off before you know it. Your right there isn't enough information on these tablets that's why i signed up to this forum to pass on any help/tips i could (i was on a forum for these tablets before and the members on there were very cliquey and wouldn't tell you anything) you sound motivated and that's great good luck with your journey x

@gemma69013 Hi the reason your friend soiled herself was due to her eating too much fat so please don't let that put you off, just eat the right food and you will lose that stone or even a bit more in the next month

i lost over a stone in my first month which spurned me on even more so glad i stuck to it. Good Luck x

Ah thanks Britney....it was hard enough trying to get into seeing a doctor, let alone spending more than 10 minutes with her.....if you know what I mean. x

Thanks Britany, does anyone have any idea about drinking wine and taking orlistat. I have a girly dinner planned tomorrow I will be sticking to a salad but will probably have a few glasses of wine. Shall I take the orlistat or leave it when drinking. There is no mention of alcohol in the notes that come with the tablets, I am on the 120mg tablets. Thanks x

Hi Britney, so glad u responded to my post! I've been reading your posts and you've done amazing and I don't let anything that has more than 5g per 100g. I've bought snack a jacks and Jaffa cakes thinkin I could have them only to discover they were over 5g. Just worried I'm not eating enough and that I'm not eating all my 15g but still feeling full. It's just made me address and really see what I've actually been putting into by body. I want to be able to get into a size 12-14, just worried I might get saggy skin but gonna have to address my exercise regime soon! Can you give me some examples of what you'd eat in a day? Was wondering if you could tell me what's your total weight loss today? X

    nikki281088 Hi Nikki aw thankyou!

Don't worry about the snack a jacks being just over 5g i eat them and i am fine the Chocolate ones are 7g per 100g and i eat them although i only have 3 or 4 of them not 100g which i think is just over half the packet (big ones).

I don't eat the full 15g per meal but am still satisfied.

I don't really eat meat although i occasionally have Venison steaks or sausages/sainsburys extra lean beef steaks are 2.5g fat per steak but i tend to stick to quorn which i prefer (the sausages in the box are nicer than the ones in the bag and are lower in fat)

some days i eat the same thing sometimes i change

Breakfast is always Shreddies never liked cereal before these tablets and i stick to these as they fill me up

Lunch if i have it would be salad or rice cakes i find myself to be not so hungry at lunch but a salad can be very filling and i don't just mean green leaves!

Dinner is homemade wedges which i had various spices to and either quorn fillets or sausages/quorn spagbol/quorn fajitas using quorn pieces/ quorn chili con carne or make a curry using quorn served with rice or pasta.

I like maggi cooking bags with quorn fillets and add potatoes and veg so no washing up hardly

Those are just some examples or baked potato with beans or one of those meals

    Also always use frylight

Sweet stuff you can eat most sweets i have mullerlights/liberte yogurts or WW frozen desserts/frozen yogurt but i have only just started eating those

I also drink lots of water.

I agree i am horrified at what i was eating i do occasionally miss cheese and chocolate but it's not worth it

    starting weight 19.5 january 2013 now 12st

Good Luck with your weight loss and let me know how you get on smile x

@smiler45 Tell me about it your lucky if mine actually answers the phone to make an appointment then when you try to get one it's like getting blood out of a stone. In my surgery even after losing all this weight they still say how are you finding it are you eating the right food erm....well i must be doing something right for the weight to be coming off..so patronising x

@gemma69013 Yes you can drink! so enjoy! you can still take the tablets however if you were going to eat a high fat meal (which i know you said your having salad this is just if your going out for an occasion) stop taking them 48-72 hours before the day of the meal then go back on them 48/72 hours after i know you didn't ask this but if anyone else wanted to know it won't give you the side effects then, x

ps: yes xenical/orlistat is all 120g only alli is lower i think its half the strength of Xenical (the one you buy at the chemist)
