Ovarian Dermoid Cyst - Very Painful!!

I started having pain in my lower left side in October of last year, it wasnt too bad so I didnt go to the doctors until january as I thought it may go away. I suspected I may have a Cyst and told the doctor and he refered me for a scan. I had a scan in mid Feb and I was diagnosed with a Dermoid Ovarian Cyst, it was about 3.5cm. I had another scan the other day and it has grown to 5cm. I have been refered to a gynocologist and been told that its going to take 20 weeks. I went back to the doctors because its causing me a lot of pain, but he said just to take pain killers (which doesnt really help) Iv been getting really really tired lately and doctor thinks that it could be related to the cyst.
The pain is getting me down, today I was in agony, I had a really sharp pain and I couldnt move, I was in tears. Im not going to be seen for another 4 months at least and I dont know what to do! Im worried its going to grow bigger.
Has anyone else been through similar experiences? How can I relieve the pain, Iv tired pain killers and warm baths but nothing works. Im only little and worried about how big the cyst is going to get, how quickly do these things grow? Mine got 1.5cm bigger in 5 weeks, so Im hoping it might stop for a bit!
Thank you

Unfortundately you just have a really bad doctor. I have the same a 3cm cyst (which is below the 5cm mark they require before they perform surgery) which is causing me really bad pain. They advised me to continue to take painkillers everyday (some days i do, some i dont) and they will send me a letter for referral. A week later i had a referral for a scan within a week and my surgery withing 6 weeks. You need to keep on to them or take yourself to A&E if the pain is unbearable as this is not normal to live your life in constant pain.
Good luck!

So I've been dealing with it on my own! But these ladies on here have got me through my tough times!
I still get the odd pains on my right side but my doctor reassured me and said that's just phantom pains! How are you doing on your recovery now ? Keep pushing for answers that's what I say because you know your body more than anyone else xxxx
Let me know

It's absolutely awful what you've gone through at such a young age it's so scary!! I'll tell you something funny!! I went for a scan last week end the nurse was there for atleast 20 minutes my left ovary has disappeared... Either I've signed away my ovary as a special delivery!! Bloody crazy and then it gets faxed over as an emergency and the doctors go all confused!!! It's like my body parts are practically being auctioned off!! For a girl my age it's scary but funny too!!! So I'm having a doctors appointment tomorrow to solve the mystery!! But I've been told it sinks into the bowel but little bit fishy soon after I bloody have an op with so many risks I get an ovary that goes walk about hahha!! So anyway my mystery goes on!! Just a question out of interest after you're ovary was removed did it improve you're pain at all?! Because I'm a the point I'm about to sign about my chance of having babies!! So I do feel like it's my only options but it's clearly not just a colour of shoes it's kind of my life.. Sorry to come down heavy !!! Hahha xxxxx
