I'm now radioactive, as you said it was nothing, take a tablet. I had 500 MBq of Radioiodine - is this what you all had?, I was on block and replace before but when I saw the Endo last my reading was FT4 40.4, FT3 13.4' he said this was too high and that I had a very violent thyroid, he stopped the Thyroxine and then referred me for RAI, I've got bloods in 2 weeks time, I have to start 60mg of Cabimzole again next week. I'm still taking my beta blockers - I couldnt cope without them. I'm off work for 4 weeks, to be honest I'm so glad of the rest because I feel so awful. Thanks for your support guys, take care x

Take care.
Hi Jane. They'll adjust your thyroxine dosage depending on your blood tests.
I think I made it sound as if they dropped the dose routinely.
Take care.
Hope everyone else is ok.

Blood test done, first 50mgs of thyroxine taken, YYYIIIIPPPEEEE! I literally crawled there on my knees but I did it, have never been so pleased to see the chemist in my life! I hope it starts to kick in soon.
Well done Sabine you are now glowing, I meant to say I chewed a lot of chewing gum in the first few days to stop my mouth getting too dry. That's really good that you are starting back on the Carbs quite quickly, up where I am after RAI you are given no drugs after and I think that's why I felt so bad. Yes I had 500 dose also. Come back and let us know how your isolation is going, we are all experts by now ;-)
Barry thank god they were getting done all along, will you get to know the numbers? And I'm glad the nasal spray is working, what's next for you then?
Marigold Endo/Doctor wanted me to have a blood test after 4 weeks of being drug free so they could see exactly what my thyroid was doing left to it's own accord. I felt hypo but not too bad up till Sunday/Monday this week then boom it kicked in big style, so really for all my moans I've not had to go too long till starting the magic pill today but boy oh boy I wouldn't wish this horrible disease on anyone. You should see me today, jeans, woolly socks, boots, jumper and scarf on and my eyes are so puffy and awful looking I put my sunglasses on to hide them!! Hope your arthritis is not so sore today?
Right I'm off to celebrate with a caffeinated yes caffeinated cup of tea!

I can't see my posts now either I was starting to wonder if I had posted at all but marigold has seen them, I think I've somehow got on to another strand for a bit. Congrats on making it to the thyroxine stage, unless anyone says different I may partake in a wee glass tonight of something alcoholic to celebrate the same. I have only taken 2 tablets but can feel some changes already. My heartbeat is faster, I've been hungry for the first time in ages and I don't think my back hurts as much.
The endo said I had no detectable thyroxine in my body and a TSH of 35 so she was certain I was v hypo, I'm not as in tune with my body as you are but can't say I've ever felt worse, still really knackered but keeping positive.
She did say for all my aches and pains it would take about a month to really feel the benefit, can't wait.
Sue hopefully you will get an increase on yours soon, wow I'd love a lobster dinner, it reminds me of our honeymoon in Kenya where the seafood was fantastic and the lobsters were like dustbin lids!
Marigold aka the oracle, can you drink alcohol on thyroxine and do you avoid any foods for that matter.
Love to all

I forgot to say I bought some eye cream called wise woman from the body shop which shifted the suitcases under the eyes straight away, I think it was under £20 and would definately recommend it.

another thing that maybe worth doing for all you guys and girls on thyroxine is to measure body temp..... then adjust meds accordingly to regulate a good standard temp.
Normal human body temperature varies slightly from person to person and by the time of day. Consequently, each type of measurement has a range of normal temperatures. The range for normal human body temperatures, taken orally, is 36.8±0.7 °C..........
when im hyper im at volcano temp.......

Enjoy your vino maybe after my 2nd tablet tomorrow I'll be able to join you.

Hi Kat. I can just picture you with all your clothes, you must look like Nanook of the North. Fancy the kids laughing at you, you're right it is the first day of the rest of your life. Mind our son would have laughed if he'd heard me say that. You're on the road to recovery now.
Hi Jane. As Kat says you'll be able to drink and eat what you want. I felt the benefit from the thyroxine quickly too. My appetite varies a bit, some days I'm starving and could eat all day, and other days I'm not hungry at all.
The eye cream sounds good, I've got bags under my eyes too.
Thinking of everyone.

sabine, glad you got that stage over ,when i had it in march i had 500 and also had to take steroids for my eyes ,hope you have plenty of things to do while you are isolated and dont forget to drink plenty of water to flush it out of you...
Had to go to bed at 10 last night i felt soooooooo tired after walking around town at a snails space  my ankles were swollen and my legs were tingling but it was worth it as i managed to get a pair of sandles from M&S for £6  ..I have just been reading my instructions for levothyroxine as i have not been told how to take them ,even the chemist where i got them said there was no special instructions on the sheet,i have been taking them first thing of a morning with a full glass of water then an hour later i take my other meds but i do have a cuppa inbetween  then it says patients over 50years (well thats me )initally no more than 50 mcgs should be taken so if i go for my bloods works on monday will i be give a higher dose ..I have another 2 weeks of the 50mcg left so i have been on them a month now.Marigold i think your endos way was the best starting high then working low ,why are they all so different with the treatment .........
take care everyone love from moaning minnie

Kat, I am on 100 mg because I was fortunate enough not to have atrial fibrillation. The eno said not to excercise for a month or so as I might get a few heart rushes anyway that she doesnt want me to add to, no doubt for you and Sue they just want to make sure so take it a bit slower.
I've got a beaming smile on my face today as I've been so rickety in a morning feeling literaly like an old woman it's been scaring me. This morning I was markedly less so, the difference was so noticeable, how fab is that! I could not go on as I was, I felt like you said dragging myself everywhere slowly it was awful I was so at the end of my tether.
Has anyone else's voice changed mine seems deeper and a bit gravelly quite a few people have mentioned it, apparently is not permanent.
Take care

Tablet two this morning and I feel maybe a wee bit clearer in my head not so fuzzy. Sue I'm the same as you, I'm taking mine first thing in the morning as soon as I wake up so on an empty stomach then by the time I'm showered & dressed I can eat and it's about an hour later. It will absorb quicker and more efficiently that way. Does sounds like you need to try the next dose up though, love a pair of shoes especially at £6!
Jane how was the wine? I've ordered the eye cream, because I'm out in the sticks my nearest Body Shop is tiny and they don't hold a lot of stock. Yep my voice has changed especially towards the end of the day, the same deeper and gravelly people keep asking if I've got a cold or a sore throat, glad to hear it's temporary although doesn't really bother me. How nice to wake up with a smile, it is awful and I agree scary feeling like you are 92.
Marigold I think the kids were laughing as I was holding the tablets up like the Statue of Liberty, lol :-) but that's honestly how I feel as I'm sure we all do, we have all been (some are still going) through so much its feels good to have something to feel positive about for once, god that's a bit deep for a Saturday afternoon.
Hope everyone else ok? My hubby has done all the ironing and is now hoovering I have taught him well although he is a bit slap dash but I can't really say anything lying on my sofa can I :-)
Love Kat xxxx

Hi Jane. I'm pleased you're starting to feel better. I think you've passed your aches and pains over to me. I think it's just my arthritis playing up a bit, but I was really stiff and achey when I got up this morning. I haven't had a deep voice, but my voice was funny when I was hyper. I'd be half way through saying something, and it would just disappear. A deep voice is a symptom of being hypo so I expect you and Kat will both be soprano again before too long. How does the eye cream work? Does it tighten the skin or just make it look better? I think I'll use it all over my face.
Hi Sue. You did well to get some sandals for £6 from M&S. I'll have to get some new shoes. I used to have loads of shoes, nearly as many shoes as I have handbags, but now I can't seem to find any that I like.
I take the thyroxine as soon as I wake up then it has time to do it's thing before I have my breakfast. I'm over 50 (well over), and I started on 100.
My endo has always started me on 100, but it's too much, and I soon have to come down. It would make life simpler if they all gave the same treatment, but I suppose they all have their own way.
Hi Kat. It sounds like the thyroxine is starting to work. Yippeee! My hubby has hoovered this morning, he helps a lot with the housework, but he won't iron.
I'll send him up and you can give him a good talking to. Our granddaughter is two tomorrow, so we're having a party. I've been baking cakes this afternoon, and we've got lots of balloons. I'm looking forward to it.
Take care everyone.
love,
Marigold
