Day 3 in the thyroxine house! Again feeling a wee bit clearer in my head and have a tiny bit more energy today even managed to do the hoovering myself today, obviously hadn't taught hubby that well if i had to do it again today!! The thing that is really bad is the fluid retention in my arms and legs. Don't have swollen ankles but I have had to take my rings off and I can see it in my arms and legs, anyone else got/had this? I know I've only taken three tablets but anyone know how quickly it will disappear? I know I know as usual I want everything yesterday :-)
Marigold hope the party went well, my youngest niece has just turned 3 and she wasn't interested in any of the presents she was just so excited that everyone had come to her party :-) hope your aches and pains not too sore.

Sorry about the aches and pains, could it be connected to running round after the party goers who no doubt will have kept you very busy. I hope it's a one off rather than normality.
Kat, don't know how long for the water retention I wish I did, but I think my hands have gone down a bit today , not enough to wear my rings yet but they look a bit less podgy so here's hoping. I've been searching around the Internet but nothing yet.
We went out for lunch with friends yesterday which was great, another step back to normality.
Bess are you ok I havnt seen you post for a while?
I hope everyone else is good, we are off again in the caravan for a couple of weeks in the morning which I'm looking forwards to. Will try to check in with
everyone but as usual with these things when you are in the middle of
nowhere a signal is often a bit of a luxury!
Take care

You are not going to believe this, I feel hyper, bumpy heart, restless, hot and sweaty, can't sleep ( been up since 4am after going to bed after midnight) i am starving hungry with shocking diorreah, still ache all over and feel tired. It started yesterday so I phoned the gp who says live with it for a bit longer to see if it settles down. Bloody great some holiday this is going to be!
Has anyone else had this after starting levothyroxine?

Oh no Jane what a nightmare for you, surely you couldn't be hyper so quickly, although as we both know stranger things have happened. Maybe it's just your body trying to adjust to the new meds or maybe you are on too much too soon and should have started on a lower dose and built up? Typical for it to start just as you are about to go on holiday!
Could you call your Endo for some advice? Stick in maybe its just a blip and will sort itself out but I would try and phone either GP or Endo again in a few days if it's not any better.
Let us know how you get on, sending you a Scottish hug.

We must have been on here at the same time! You don't sound good at all, I wonder what your blood results will say and more importantly I hope the Doctor can sort you out. I agree bloody thyroid it's a nightmare isn't it, said it before and I'll say it again I would not wish this disease on anyone.
Chin up and let us know how you get on at the Doctor, a Scottish hug to you too.
I keep feeling a wee bit better every day if I could just get rid of the fluid retention I would be much happier, my two went back to school today so sitting here all on my own, going to try and get out with dog today maybe some exercise will get things moving?

Just got my blood results from Friday, hope you are all sitting down I'm a bit speechless here goes - TSH 49.75 T4 4 T3 1.01 no wonder I'm feeling so bad! Seeing the Doctor on Thursday wonder if she will increase my 50mg thyroxine?
Went out for a walk today lasted 15 mins, I felt like I did when I was 9 months pregnant, gave up and came home :-(

Jane. Hope you're feeling a bit better, and got away on holiday. I'd have thought if you'd been going to have an adverse reaction to the thyroxine it would have happened when you first started taking it. I don't really think you've been on it long enough to go hyper when you were so hypo. That's just my opinion, I'm no expert. Have a word with your endo if you're not happy. Take care.
Hi Kat.You're in the wars too. It sounds to me like you need your thyroxine increasing. Our granddaughter's birthday party went well, she loves having people around her, her little face was a picture. Bless her. We looked after her yesterday too. I don't know where she gets her energy from. Let us know how you get on with your GP tomorrow. Take care.
Hi Sue. Sorry you're not very well either. Did you manage to get an appointment with your GP? Did he increase your thyroxine? You're having a rough time, but you'll get there in the end. When do you go on holiday? I hope you feel well enough to go. Take care.
Hope everyone else is ok.

Sue good for you it does sound like you deserve a bit of a break. I've got my fingers crossed for you.
Marigold / kat, you are right my symptoms seem to be calming down a bit after the initial surge. In fairness it's made me a bit more sociable as we've met our friends here and last week I'd have been in bed by ten every night. I have been able to party on a smaller scale than normal but party non the less.
Kat, your TSH sounds awful, your body is definately crying out for more thyroxine, my goodness you must feel really dreadful. I hope they increase you fairly quickly as I imagine that is still going up. Feeling a bit hyper whilst hypo is the weirdest scariest thing, I would not wish that on you or sue so hang in there gals. Hugs all round.
Am spending the day sitting at the side of a river watching our kids learning
kayaking, weather is glorious my main concern is keeping the damn dog out
of the river, he's been in three times already this morning so smells v doggy!
Take care

Now back from the Doctor, she has doubled my dose of thyroxine to 100 and said if my heart plays up then drop down again to 50, to be honest she didn't seem that interested! She signed me off work for another two weeks when i've to go and see her again. Came home and had a huge big cry. She said everything I was feeling was due to being hypothyroid and it's going to take 2/3 months until I feel better, great!
What was I saying about being positive? I don't know how much more of this I can take.
Sue your August results show you are dropping down the scale towards underactive again which is why you have been feeling so bad hopefully the
increase up to 75 will help, when have you to get your bloods done again?
Jane get you partying! I hope things settle down for you, I've just read the side effects bit on the leaflet in the thyroxine and you seem to have them all!! Are your tablets 100's or do you take 2 50's? It might be you have to drop your dose for a bit. At least you got away, where is away this time?
Off in search of chocolate.

Sue, you sound like you're doing fine and on the mend.
I'm really pleased for you. Do as the doctor says and take it easy. don't be dashing around like the white tornado if you suddenly get a load of energy from your extra thyroxine. Take care.
Jane, I'm pleased you're feeling a bit better and things have calmed down. It sounds like you've got your hands full with the dog. Take care.
Kat, hope you get on ok at the docs. Fingers crossed.

You don't have to take much more because you too are going to start to feel better in a few days when that double dose of thyroxine hits your system.
My endo who incidentally was fab told me I would feel loads better in a month which I like the sound of better than your gp's few months. She said it would take longer to be 100% but none of us can bloody remember that far back anyway! I still feel strange at times but have nowhere near as many aches and pains or feel as mentally low or fuzzy. I know I'm not myself yet but there is a definate improvement. So hang I'm there as you are sooo close.
Hope all are ok
