Had a busy weekend for once was quite nice do some different things for a change. My sister was on holiday in a log cabin quite near to where we live so we went over for the day on Saturday. Kids went swimming, we walked in the forest and then went to the pub for a swift half and back to the cabin for tea and X-Factor, I had a wee bit of a sore head in the Morning :o
Still feeling not too bad, again a bit more energy and more of a desire to do more if you know what I mean? It will be 6 weeks this Friday that I've been on the big T I can't quite believe that.
I've been reading about taking your temperature first thing in the morning before you get out of bed, if its below 36.5 (normal temp being around 37c) then that shows you don't have enough T3 so your metabolism is slow and therefore HypoT, so for the last 3 days mine has been 36.35, 36.35 & 36.37 so still on the low side but getting there just other thing to add to my bedside table!!
Jane - I dye my hair have done for years, blonde (can you not tell!) usually always Nice and Easy, sometimes at the hairdresser. It always takes but I have noticed lately that I have to leave it on for the maximum time and then maybe another 5 mins to get it to cover the ever increasing grey. I hate to think what it looks like without the dye, I seem to have been going grey for about 10 years now - thyroid related or just getting old??
Sue - glad you are finally feeling a bit better, like the sound of your bargains I need new PJ's. Sorry I don't have the sweating I seem to be the same as Marigold I'm cold in bed never ever been like that before, you should see my sexy bed socks! Going to take a leaf out of your book and get out more this week, I seem to be always saying that!
Bess - I think you are right to hang off with move for a while, why don't you write a Pros/Cons list that's what I would do. When my Dad died my Mum sold up and moved to be near to me as I was the only one then with children however a year after she moved my Hubby got relocated with his work and we then had to move about an hour away, luckily she likes where she is and my brother and sister both now have families and are about 20 mins away from her, so not to be doom and gloom but its worth thinking about things like that too.
Marigold - yet another cake this weekend baked by my daughter, it was a victoria sponge decorated all over with jelly tots and I wonder why I can't lose weight! Do you watch the Great British Bake Off? Me and my girl watch it on a Tuesday cuddled up under the blanket drooling at all the lovely things.
Hope the Actimel is working for everyone? And here was me blaming the wind on hurricane Katya :D :D
Take Care,
Kat xxxx

Freaky or what, I've been thinking exactly the same as you about getting out more.
Because I'm a bit of a wet blanket on a night I met my hubby for lunch one day last week in a cheeky italian which was lovely. I've also booked us a weekend away (no kids or dogs) next month and a week with kids, dogs and friends. I'm sick of being ill, tired, whatever you want to call it and want desperately to move on now.
Marigold, I'm going to give the hair a go and see what happens, and am doing a blood test on Wednesday so am hoping for a meds increase soon after. I might even bake a cake you've got me going now!
Hope everyone is ok.

Hi Bess. Hope you're feeling ok. How did the scones turn out? Did you make fruit, I usually make cheese scones. You do a lot of walking, I keep saying I'll start going for walks, but I never get round to it.
Hi Jane. The weekend away with hubby will be nice and romantic. It'll do you both good. It's easy to get into a rut and feel like you can't be bothered to go out. I hope your hair turns out ok. and I hope they increase your medication after your blood test. If we all lived near each other we could have a baking club.
Hi Kat, Your daughter is spoiling you with all the baking. No, I don't watch The Great British Bake Off, it sounds good though. I was thinking about what you said to Bess about her moving. Our son and family live about a 40 minute drive away from us. I wouldn't want them to live close to us as there aren't many jobs and not much to do really. They live quite close to a City so there's plenty going on. We've thought about moving closer to them as both my parents have died now so there's nothing to keep us here, but there's no gurantee that they'll stay where they are. Also as we're getting older we feel happier in familiar surroundings. There's a lot to think about.
Hurricane Katya has nothing on me.
Hope everyone else is ok. Debs are you ok?
Take care everyone,
Love,
Marigold

Sue, I did laugh with your pros and cons of a girdle ! It sounds like you are really busy, Hope you get some answers when you have had the next test done. I haven't had night sweats either but am always kicking the covers off, my age I think.
Marigold, congratulations on having another grandchild on the way, how lovely. This distance between families is difficult, I couldn't ask my daughter to come and live near here either,
because she has lived there all her life, still has her old school friends and loves it there. She would be so bored here and homesick. The scones tasted lovely but never rise as much as I would like. I'll send you all some, you can use them as doorstops.
Jane, I hope you get your weekend away, it sounds lovely.
Kat, the temperature thing sounds interesting, I might give it a go. I had a dreadful night last night, heart thumping and couldn't get to sleep, I took an extra 20mgs of Propanolol and eventually slept about 2 am. I took 40 mgs this morning and was ok till about 5 this evening and it all started again, I was quite scared. Have taken another 40 mgs and feel fine now but if all this doesn't settle in a few days I'll book myself in for a blood test.
I know the thyroid problem causes anxiety but I wonder if anxiety also raises our T4 - any ideas anyone ? I spose all things are made worse by stress.
Take care everyone,
hope everyone else ok,
love,
Bess xxx

I read the comments most days to keep up to date with how were all doing.
I started light training again last Friday so decided to go out and buy a heart monitor watch,it's really good and puts my mind at ease when I'm jogging,I've been gettin my heart rate upto about 130 during exercise just enough to get a sweat on.
I really want to play football again so just trying to build up slowly( I ran 4 miles every day before I got Ill).
It's still at the back of my mind about my thyroid going hyper again but just trying my best to keep positive.
Hope you are all ok

i hope your all well, it sounds like you've all been having fun with the bargains and baking
, i still carnt eat anything sweet without feeling ill for a couple of hours,i asked the doctor about this and he said it could be the carbimazole, has anyone else had it?.
marigold congrats on the news of a new edition to your family
Im feeling a lot better than i was and had my blood results
T4 17.9 ,T3 4.3 ,THS still less than 0.1 ,is it normal to still be left taking 20 mgs of carb when i have 2 levels in normal range ?
I go back to see the endo next thurs
.
Bess i think its a good idea to put a move on hold, its very stressfull moving house ,something you may not need right now,

How are we all? I'm feeling ok (I hate to say anything other than that as I don't want to tempt fate!) Getting fed up of being this size and unfit though so have started counting the calories again using an App on my iPhone called MyFitnessPal, it's amazing you can scan the barcode of what you are eating and it works out the calories for you. I did calorie counting with Rosemary Conley years ago and sticking to 1450/1500 per day I managed to lose 19lbs. Have also started yesterday doing a wee 20 minutes workout, I did it this morning, oh my god I had to lie down for half an hour after!! I thought I could do it everyday along with walking the dog, think I'm dreaming.
Marigold - congratulations, a new baby that's lovely news. Hope you find a new coat, all the shops seem to have new ones in every week. I got some Christmas presents in the Next Sale yesterday - yes I did say the C word!!!
Jane - two holidays good for you, I feel the same as you I just want to get on with things, well life really. I've noticed this week I've got much more of a desire to do things if you know what I mean? That's 6 weeks in for us, you feeling any better?
Bess - do you think your not sleeping and palps could be thinking about your move or not to move dilemma? A blood test is maybe not a bad idea if it doesn't settle.
Sue - good luck with your blood test, I googled it and it is to test your adrenal function I also looked at that suite 101 site, it all makes a bit more sense now ;-)
Barry - glad you are still feeling good, I think I need you as my fitness instructor!! Do you go to a gym? Sounds like you will be back playing football in no time.
Debs - your TSH is still low maybe that's why you are still on 20mg, at least
you are seeing the Endo soon so maybe they will change your dose then. I'm really glad you are feeling better.
Ps Jane how did the hair turn out?
I'm venturing out to the supermarket this afternoon with my hubby, I'm supposed to be writing a list better crack on.
Have a great weekend everyone,

Sue, I am thinking of you and your 47 years anniversary, what an achievement, I hope it's not too painful for you today, I hope we manage to stay happy for half that. I am really glad that you seem to have been compensated from your stay at faulty towers. When will you hear about the adrenal tests that you had last week, I did the same as Kat and was straight on google, I am affectionately known as the good queen by my friends!
Marigold, congrats to you and yours on the good news. I havnt done any baking yet but I've bought a cupcake stand from e bay so when I do do it they'll look good!
The hair do worked out thank goodness, it's still shorter than I would choose but a very nice colour. Thanks to all for giving me the confidence to go for it!
Barry, bess , debs And everyone else, hope you are ok
I've just got my results t4 is 9, TSH is 14.5. I've never done t4 before so can't compare that but the TSH is much better than it was. I'm not sure that I actually feel that much better. Maybe that will follow if I give it time. It seems that I need a bit more thyroxine so have an apt for tomorrow afternoon at the docs.

Well I don't care if I tempt fate saying this but I feel really good today! Nothing aches, no pain. Managed my wee 30 mins aerobics session this morning and a 20 min dog walk this afternoon, in fact I could have walked longer but I needed to be back for the kids coming home.
The only niggle is I seem to have to go to the loo an awful lot, could this be the fluid retention finally sorting itself out, my hands are definately back to normal but the scales don't reflect that!
I've got the Doctors in the morning I'll ask her, I going to ask to be allowed to go back to work starting next week I feel I'm more than ready.
Sue wow 47 years you must have been a child bride :-) well done getting your compensation back from the coach company. From what I read when I googled your test it might be that you are not converting the T4 thyroxine into T3 which is what we need to feel better, let us know the results it will be interesting to see what they say.
Jane well done with the hair what colour did you go for? Your T4 is 1 below the ref range up here so you are heading the right way, obviously your TSH is still to high but it's also heading the right way. When I had my bloods done at 4 weeks in my T4 was 16 I have the Endo next week so I'm really interested to see what my levels are now don't know if they will test again so soon? Out of interest did you take your Thyroxine befor you had your bloods done I did last time but have read (I must stop reading!!) that it can give a false high T4 reading, Doctor hasn't said anything so think I'll just keep taking it before.
Everyone else ok?
Love Kat xxxx

My hair is caramel brown with a few blonde foils. Much darker than normal but it looks reasonably healthy. I do feel better but the main difference is that my mood is a lot more stable now if you know what I mean.
I am pleased that you are raring to go and hope your return to work is a success. I am surer than ever that I went back too soon but my motivation was to get away from my other half who was driving me crazy after a couple of months of us both on sick leave.
Debs, I got loads of aches and pains with carbimazole and they went when I came off it the worst was my wrists. I also got heartburn regularly with certain foods. Hopefully this week you will get a reduction and start to feel better.
Love to all
Jane xx
