    Hello All!

Glad to hear your news Marigold.

I'm back on Propanolol now for the tremors & anxiety. My boss was very understanding this morning when we had a chat about it & my duties are now being reduced a bit which is a bit of a relief. Have even taken the rest of today & tomorrow off to try & have a bit of a rest this weekend.

Just had a call from the health centre telling me that our Thyroid clinic want more bloods off me for a repeat test. They didn't say why but hopefully I'll find out when I go in on Monday. Still haven't had my next appointment yet but it can't be far away.

My friends (who I thought weren't being supportive) have been great the last couple of days. It's them that are telling me to take it easy and relax. Easier said than done when you're in 'panic' mode.

Hope that everyone is feeling good or better soon.

    Thanks for being here.

    Babs.

    Hello everyone.

Sue, are you ok. Did you get the test done? I was thinking about you. I feel fine. I feel better when my T4 is around 15, and my TSH is right in the middle of the normal range. I just hope they stay there. I think block and replace is good too, it means you don't have to go very hypo, which I couldn't do anyway because of my eyes. I think stress does play a part. I'm sure it was stress when my mum died that started the Graves off again, it was such a shock. My memory isn't too good though, I can't remember names. I used to have such a good memory, but I think it's more because I'm getting older than from the Graves. It's the oldtimers.

Hi Deb. I hope you got your tablets, and you start to feel better soon. I'm feeling fine, but I can't get warm today. It's a horrible cold, wet day.

Ten days to get blood results? That's ridiculous. I think I'd be thinking about changing doctors. although there's no guarantee the next ones would be any better. Take care.

Hi Babs. I hope you start to feel better now you're back on the propranolol. I'm pleased your boss is being understanding, it's not your fault you're ill. It's hard to rest with you're in panic mode. I used to find it difficult to sit still, I felt like I had to be on the go all the time.

Hi Maria. Are you feeling any better? It would probably do you good to have some time off. It must be very stressful to have that long commute. Take care.

    Thinking of everyone else.

Hi Everyone ,Marigold thanks for being here hun xxx I had my shower last night and did my hair so i only had to have a quick wash this morning ,luckily the traffic wasnt so bad when i set off at 8 15 am and being ready cut some of the stress out ,i arrived at 8 45 and had a cup of tea made for me straight away :D ,i had a cannula put in and bloods taken which were sent straight off ,after 30mins i had to have an injection in my bum ,then i was brought another cuppa :D i was a bit panacky for a while in case i went into shock ,they had the drugs ready in case this happend ,i was fine once i calmed down a bit lol ,30 mins later they took more blood and gave me another cuppa and 30 mins later i was able to leave ,but what amazed me was i felt different in myself maybe felt a little happier and my vision was much clearer ,i felt a bit tired tonight as i have been up early but deffinately felt better than i have been..

I have just had some bad news that my little grandson aged 3 has got severe speach language problems he has been having speach therapy for a while now but his theripst told my daughter today he will have to have to have more specialised help ,she is very upset and keeps crying. There is nothing wrong mentally he is very clever ,but why he suffers from this i dont know ...

Hope everyone else is alright must go daughters phoning me xx

    Evening Everyone,

I've just been catching up with everyone's news. I am now back at work, this week is my first of working my normal hours thinking its catching it up with me as I've been in bed by 9:30/10pm trying to read my book but it keeps falling out of my hand smile

Had a Doctors Appt on Wednesday and she was really pleased with my progress, she said that my face was the most normal looking its been for about a year, I took that to be a compliment! I don't need to go back and see her till after my Endo Appt at the beginning of December smile unless of course I start feeling any changes. I asked about getting the Flu Jab but she said as I'm not in the \"at risk\" group she wouldn't give it to me, found out that one of the local chemists is doing them for £9.99 no appt needed I think I might go and get it, for the last two years at Christmas I have been floored with the Flu.

Have been feeling a bit off for a couple of days, a bit achey with sore ears, hot and cold but got my period today so I'm hoping its just that or going back to an office where everyone seems to be either coughing or sneezing!!!

Sue I hope your test went well today and you didn't get stressed out getting to the hospital, I find sometimes that its the getting there and the waiting that make me feel worse than the actual appointment. Has your Doctor offered to try you on a different brand of thyroxine to see if that makes a difference, just a thought?

Marigold - YIIIIPPPPPPPEEEEEE on your results, that's fantastic news, I'm so pleased for you. Hopefully we will all be joining you in camp normal and steady very soon.

Barry - a big YIPPPPPPPPPEEEEEE for you too on being discharged from the Endo, you must have had just the right amount of RAI to now not need to go on thyroxine, I'm really pleased for you.

Welcome Maria and Babs - just take your time going back to work, its a very long road to recovery, I have just gone back after being off for nearly 5 months after having RAI treatment. I'm still not 100% but a whole lot better than I have been in years. Stick in you will get there in the end.

    Jane hows things with you?

Bess hows the pro/con moving list going?

Packed lunches to make and shirts to iron better get off here and go do it.

    Take Care,

    Love

    Kat xxxx

Oh I meant to say that finally my eyes seems to have settled down, the swelling is hardly there anymore and the redness seems to be less, hopefully the new Endo was right in that it was a flare up after the RAI and the thyroxine is continuing to make them better rather than it being a separate thyroid eye disease.

    Back to the ironing!

    Hi everyone,

Barry and Marigold- brilliant news ! It gives us all hope, after all you have been through it lovely to know you are better.

Debs, what a performance over your tablets, you just don't need the extra stress do you. Hope things settle down soon for you.

Sue, I'm glad your test is over and done with, been thinking of you. I do hope your little grandson gets some extra help soon, what an upsetting time for your daughter. Hope your results mean you get some answers and start to feel better soon.

Kat, how lovely that your doctor thinks you have an almost normal face ! lol. Its good your eyes are better, it must make you feel better in yourself.

Jane, how are you and hubby doing ? Thinking of you lots and hope you ok.

Babs and Maria, hang on in there, its horrible now but you will come through and as others have said, we all help each other on here so if you need a rant anytime, go ahead !

As regards, my house move, I've decided to wait for a few more months but in the meantime I'm taking the excuse to have a turn out. I could start my own charity shop. I'm doing ok so far on the alternate day Carbs but am cutting down on the Propanolol to see how I get on. They make my arms, chest and legs ache and when I'm walking the dog, I feel like an old lady. They are a godsend though and don't know how I would have coped without them.

Marigold, I suppose you can eat unlimited biscuits now ? I made some scones yesterday but had to freeze some to stop myself from eating the lots (greedy pig).

Love to Dave and everyone, Bess xxx

    Hello everyone,

Hi Sue. I'm pleased you got your test done, and that you got there without getting stressed. What a lot of cups of tea. Did the injection in your bum hurt? I used to have to have iron injections in my bum, sometimes it didn't hurt, but other times it was really painful. It felt like they were using my bum for darts practice. Did they say how long it would take for you to get the results? It's good you're feeling a bit better, you'll be calmer knowing the test has been done.

I'm sorry about your little grandson. Our granddaughter's speech seems slow to me. She's as bright as a button, and she knows everything that's said to her, but I think I'm comparing her to our son as he was a very early talker. I often think they'll talk when they're ready. Your daughter will be upset about it, but I bet he's chattering away before long. I hope you have a good weekend.xxx

Hi Kat. I bet it feels good getting back to normal, although you're tired. My GP

said I should have a flu jab as Graves is in the 'at risk' group, but I'm allergic to eggs so I can't have it. They all say something different. I'd have it done if I was you. You're right, everyone seems to be coughing and sneezing.

I try not to breathe when I'm out. I hope you haven't got a cold.

I'm enjoying being in camp normal and steady. It does seem strange not having lots of hospital and doctor appointments. It'll be a year next month since I had the RAI. It won't be long before everyone else is normal too. (what passes for normal anyway). I'm pleased your eyes are settling down.

    Hope everyone else is ok.

    love,

    Marigold

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven’t replied to all your lovely posts, but I have been feeling pretty awful over the last few days, the tremors have been horrendous, with no energy what so ever, so poor hubby has been looking after me.

    sad

What fantastic news Barry and Marigold, there is light at the end of the tunnel?

    :D

Suzy, my 3 year old Grandson will be seeing a speech therapist on Monday, all children develop at different pace. My oldest daughter didn’t walk till she was 18 months old but could chat to anyone, but my younger daughter walked at 10 months but didn’t start to talk properly till she was 2, but they both looked out for one another and still do. I’m sure that he will be fine.

Going to see my Endo late Monday afternoon, I hope he can sort me out.

Girls that work for me have been phoning asking all sorts of question on how things are done, what is the point of having a procedure manual if they don’t look at it.

My Mum has been diagnosed with Dementia, and my older brother is trying to get her into a home, not bad for someone of 89 to have managed all this time on her own since Dad died 32 years ago.

Will keep you posted as to how I get on at the hospital on Monday.

    Take care, Maria xx

    Hello everybody,

Back from a lovely week in the isle of Wight. We really noticed how much better I am since last time we went away in August. Although I had my moments this holiday was not governed by graves disease or thyroxine levels. (at last)

I did think I was going to die when walking back up from the needles!

Back at work tomorrow, have a cold and throat that feels like barbed wire, which is bloody typical but it's probably just the time of year.

Will catch up with all the posts later.

I hope everyone is ok, love to all

    Hello everybody,

Hi Maria. Sorry you've been feeling awful. Are you feeling any better? It's good your hubby has been looking after you. I don't know what I'd have done without mine last year when I was so ill. My legs were so swollen I couldn't bend my knees and couldn't get in and out of the bath. He used to get me into the bath and I took my mobile phone with me, then when I was ready to come out I'd phone him and say 'heave ho!' and he'd come and haul me out. It's a good job we could see the funny side of the situation. It wasn't funny the day I forgot my phone though, and had to wait to be rescued.

I'm fine now, and you will be too. It just takes time.

It must be annoying being pestered with calls from work.

Sorry about your mum, my mum had vascular dementia. It was awful trying to get some help for her. She'd been on her own for twenty years.

How did you get on with the endo?

    Take care.

Hi Jane. Glad you enjoyed your hols. We've been to Sandown a couple of times. You're sounding a lot better, but I hope your cold and sore throat clear up soon.

Hi Bess. Yes, the endo said I can eat as many biscuits as I like now. I'm still into baking, and made some rockbuns and cheese scones. I haven't baked for years, I think it must be something to do with the treatment.

How are you getting on with the reduced Propranolol, I've felt much better since I stopped them.

    Take care.

Hi Deb. It would have been easier to understand if they'd tested your T4 too.

Increasing the Carbimazole will stop you producing as much thyroxine. I'm not much help as I was on block and replace where I was on Carbimazole and Thyroxine at the same time. Sorry that hasn't helped much.

Hope everyone else is ok. Sue, have you got any results yet?

    Thinking of everyone.

    Love,

    Marigold

    Hello everyone

Sue im glad everything went ok with your tests, do you have to wait long for your results?

Maria i hope your feeling better, how did your appointment with the endo go?

Jane im pleased you had a good holiday, its a shame you came back feeling ill, hope you better now.

Bess i hope your feeling ok with cutting the propranolol down .

Kat im unsure if to get the flu jab as ive heard it makes you feel ill but im also like you and end up with flu over xmas sad , i hope your feeling ok

Marigold i love cheese scones smile ,ive not made any in ages ,you ve made me want some now smile

ive demanded to have my thyroid levels tested again after them only testing my tsh because i didnt want to increase my carbs when i didnt know what my levels were ,ive just been and had them done .

the doctor didnt give me any more antibotics in the end as he wanted me to have some more tests so also had a kidney and liver function test this morning and a full blood count.

they said results could take upto 10 days but they said that on monday and my results were back the next day so i hope there quick again .

im not feeling to bad today so lets hope it lasts smile

i hope your all having a good day

    Take care Deb xx

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you Marigold and Debs for your messages, I am even more confused now that I have been to see my Endo and GP then I was before. :?

Apparently my Thyroid level has gone too far the other way now, so I thought that he would give me a small dose of Thyroxin, to block and replace, but no he told me to stop taking the Carbimazole and to go back and see him in 8 weeks.

My GP couldn’t understand his logic and said that I was to go back and see her in two weeks if not before if I feel unwell, (She is waiting to receive a letter from the Endo). Which is ridiculous as I feel unwell most of the time!! I am now getting giddy spells (has anyone else had them) and as for bursting out crying, or flying off the handle, poor hubby is getting it all.

I hope that you are all ok and sorry for moaning.

    Love

    Maria
