Congrats Bess! Good to hear some great news.
I go back to the specialist tomorrow so let's see how my levels are doing. I went for my bloods on Monday at the local health centre for this appointment & mentioned I had a 'funny' throat to the nurse & that I was a bit worried being on Carbimazole etc. I was told that I must be coming down with something & give it a couple of days...............I had a bit of a rant once I left the room. :?
I haven't been making any more interesting cakes but did manage a week with my folks last week. Was more exhausted after that than after a week at work or maybe it was the shopping (I don't get to the Big City very often  ).
Anyway, I hope everything works well for everyone. I'm thinking that mulled things may be next on the list of things to do in the kitchen. Will check in again after I get my results.
Take care everyone!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with Babs that it is good to hear some good news for a change. Congrats to Bess, glad to hear that you are off Carbs, there is light at the end of the tunnel for all of us that are still struggling with this awful condition.
I’m doing OK, still having terrible palpitations. Work is not being so understanding!! Keep phoning me all the time wanting to know when I am going back to work. I really don’t need the pressure.
I felt really good on Monday, as my daughter had her scan and everything is ok, the baby is a bit of a wriggler so they had trouble getting the measurements that they need and will be due around the 22nd of May, a bit early than according to my daughters GP. So looking forward to he/she arriving.
Back to my GP tomorrow, not sure what else she can do.
Love to you all Maria

marigold im glad your still feeling well and i hope it lasts
,i also forget if ive took my tablets i have to write down as soon as ive took them as my memory as got that bad i couldnt remember if i had taken them ,so ive bought a little book just for jotting down when ive took them and what ive took :D , i hope the heartburn has gone , its horrible when you get that.
Kat there s nothing wrong with having a moan , i always feels a bit better after having a moan, them that have to listen to me dont though
sue your doctor can give you T3 ,my sister went private for some blood tests about a month ago and saw a private endo who told her she needed T3 and also told her that doctors dont like giving it because of the cost but they can give it you. her doctor first said he couldnt but then gave her some.
so i would insist if i was you, its wrong when it comes down to cost. i hope you get some .
Bess im really pleased for you :D i hope it all works out for you and your next blood tests come back normal, good luck .
Babs i hope all goes well for you today
im going for my blood test in a couple of hours to see how ive gone on having carbimazole every other day,im still feeling good apart from back ache so hopefully they will come back ok.
Barry i hope your still doing ok
take care everyone, Deb xx

what dose of propranolol are you on? you might need to up your dose till the palpitations calm down, my doctor told me i should be back working but im going to start back when i feel ready not when he says as he doesnt have this horrible thyroid conidition so no you really dont need the pressure from those who dont know how you feel.
congrats to you and your daughter
,something to look forward to .
take care Deb xx

Well I went to the hospital today & had a different doctor to who I had seen before. The one I saw today was trying to push the RAI on me. I was a bit anxious and he then thought I had gone hyper again even though my bloods from a couple of days ago seemed to be almost normal. I couldn't give an answer about the RAI today so he wants to see me again in 3 weeks time! I thought I had picked up 1 of the many bugs that's flying about but he's sure my 'funny' throat is due to my thyroid and I've had a few palpitations over the last couple of days even though I'm back on the beta blockers. He told me that basically they can give me meds till the cows come home but since my antibody count was so high initially(over 1500) they would keep attacking my thyroid so the best bet would be to kill my gland off and go hypo. I did come home very dazed and confused as the last doctor I spoke to did not put it so bluntly about my autoimmune disease. How has the RAI worked for everyone else who has had it? Fortunately my eyes don't seem to be too bad at the moment so maybe it's the answer. On discussing it with my friends they think it will be a good idea as they have noticed a massive difference in me since I've been diagnosed. I've become very down some days and weep to order (well almost).
On the plus side my counts were in the 'normal' range but I still feel ropey. I was told that my thyroid would feel better before I would. I'm very happy for it. It would be grand if it sent me some flowers or something.
Hope everyone is feeling okay.
Babs!x

Just back from the GP and she has increased my dose of beta blockers and like you Babs my counts are getting into the “normal range” whatever normal is!!
So I should start to feel better soon and go back to work....
One question do any of you have terrible sweats, mine are as if I have been to the gym, which is most unlikely for me. My GP seems to think that it could be menopause rubbish that was 3 years ago and I never got hot sweats then. :?
I hope everyone is ok?
Love Maria xx

Hi Sue. Lets hope you get sorted out when you see the endo next week, you should be feeling better by now. No. I haven't put any weight on yet, still in danger of falling down a drain. I don't think I look as thin as I did, although my arms look skinny. I've always been slim and lose weight very easily. I feel good, and that's all that matters. How's your Christmas shopping coming on? I've about finished, thank goodness.XXX
Hi Bess. So you're off the carbs at long last, that's good news. Yipeeeee!!!!
I've had no more migraine auras thank goodness, it must have been a one off. I can do without those. Have you had any recently? I think I might bake tomorrow. I'll send a cake down the wire.
Hi Babs. You'll be wondering what to do about RAI. My endo didn't push me at all, in fact I was the one who wanted to have the RAI sooner rather than later. He said that since this was a recurrence even if it calmed down this time it would almost certainly come back again, so I thought I might as well get it over with. I feel really good now, although it's a year since I had the treatment and it's taken most of that time for my bloods to be in the normal range. I have eye problems, and the endo said it was important to make sure it was safe to have RAI so he referred me to a thyroid eye clinic. I had to travel quite a long way as there isn't one locally, but it put my mind at rest. I was also on steroids for two weeks before the RAI and two weeks after to protect my eyes. I'm pleased I had the RAI though, I feel better now than I have for years. :D xx
Hi Maria. I'm pleased your daughter is ok, our daughter in law has her 20 week scan next week, so we should find out the sex then. It's lovely to have another baby on the way, something to look forward to. I hope you feel better with your increased beta blockers. I used to sweat a lot, and was forever changing my clothes. It should settle down once you get into the normal range. Take care.xx
Hi Deb. Hope you're feeling a bit better, don't be forced into going back to work until you feel ready. I only take one tablet a day now, so I should be able to remember it. When I was on loads I don't think I ever forgot them. I can't remember people's names either. I think I'm cracking up.
Thinking of everyone. Are you ok Jane?
love,
Marigold.

Sleeping great which I think is the major issue for us all with graves.
Hi babs can I ask why you are dwelling on rai ? There's nothing to it and it works! Sorry to be straight to the point but basically if you don't get it done the chances are you will be yo yo-ing up and down and you can't keep going on the carbs for ever. Hope you get sorted.
Take care everyone

Sue, I'm so sorry you are feeling like this. Its so frustrating when you get normal blood results but feel like crap. Its so hard to know how to help yourself when you don't know the cause. Thinking of you and hope you feel better soon. Hope everyone else ok today, must go, am watching the football and half time is nearly over ! Will post properly soon.

The right lobe of my thyroid is deffo bigger than the left, not significant to look at but only when I feel it.
It can take a while for things to settle down-it did for me anyway but I would reccomend it to anyone as the best form of treatment.
Take care ;-)
