    Hi Everyone,

Just coming out of the end of a week long cold :-( I just can't seem to get rid of it. Managed in to work but had to come home on Thursday and have a duvet day! Generally feeling ok, noticed I'm having a bit of heartburn and upset stomach again not sure what that's all about. Got my next blood test on Friday, my last one was at the beginning of October so I'm really keen to get the results. Like you Sue my weight seems to have stuck, I'm going try having less carbohydrate this week which will be hard because we have either potatoes or pasta most nights!!

Sue - I have everything crossed for your appointment this week, it's good that you have all your symptoms written down that's what I do. Have you had a look on the Thyroid UK website they have some useful info about how to get the best from your appointments.

Bess - well done getting off the Carbs, I hope you are still feeling ok? I tend to agree with Barry and the RAI, it's a doddle to do, the worst part is going Hypo after but if you are prepared for that happening and you are not left (like me) to go very underactive, it's a good permanent solution. As with everything Thyroid it also has a lot to do with the support you get from your GP and Endo.

Babs - I wasn't pushed into RAI but I had two choices that or having my thyroid surgically removed. Although its been a long road recovering after the RAI I would still definately recommend it.

Marigold - I'm just about finished my Christmas shopping too, it's my boy's 15th birthday on the 13th so I try and get myself organised for then. No baking this week in our house we are trying to have a bit of a pre-Christmas tidy, it's not going that well :-)

Barry - good you are still doing ok, wow can't believe that's a year since your RAI.

    Everyone else take care,

    Love

Hi Bess. Having RAI is a doddle, I can remember thinking 'is that it, What's all the fuss about?'.I was hot and sweaty afterwards and a bit fidgety, but I do tend to be fidgety anyway. I find it very hard to sit still. My TSH did shoot up afterwards, and I had to go back on the block and replace with carbs and thyroxine for a few months, and then it took a few months to get my thyroxine dosage right. Like Barry the endo thought I might have to have the RAI again, but then it all came right. I think it must have been delayed action. My endo made sure I didn't go hypo because of my eyes, so I didn't have those symptoms either. It's twelve months this week since I had the RAI, and I feel good. If you have to have it, there's nothing to worry about. Just get it over with and get on with the rest of your life. smile Take care.

Hi Sue. Those thyroid results look fine to me. I hope the endo can come up with something to help you. You shouldn't be feeling like you do.

We're going to our son's for Christmas day. They usually come here, but it'll be easier with all our granddaughter's toys. It was like a toy shop last year. smile

Hi Kat. Hope your cold is better soon. I've had heartburn again lately, I usually get in when I'm hyper, but I know I'm not. I've taken cod liver oil capsules for a long time, and I stopped them a few days ago and the heartburn's gone. Maybe just coincidence, but I'm pleased its gone anyway.

I don't think I could cut down on potatoes. I love mash. Hubby calls me Mrs. Murphy. I made some chocolate buns yesterday. I was going to send you all one down the wire, but they're so light they're going to fly to you so watch for them coming.

    Love to all,

    Marigold

    Hello everyone,

Been busy with one thing and another but still pressing on. I was interested to hear that others seem to have a few gastric problems as I have too on and off.

Kat I'm sorry youve been not feeling great and Sue you have never gotten right have you. Let's hope the endo sorts something quickly.

The ones who are worried about RAI, it is ok and not a big deal at the time but you can't undo what it does to you for that reason I wouldn't take it if I could get away without doing it. My endo said leaving it was not an option RAI or surgery was my choice.

Marigold I hope you are alright and am glad you are having CHristmas with your family. We havnt committed to anything as still have no date for hubby's surgery (which was supposed to be imminent). He says he will start making calls this week if it goes on much more.

Ive been doing a lot more at work lately and my hours are just about normal now except they are keeping me off night shifts until the new year.

In the main I am better but not quite back to my old self yet. Am managing over a dozen lengths at the pool a couple of times a week which helping me stay sane!! I really miss the gym but am still quite out of breath for nothing and have been advised to walk or swim building it back up very slowly for now.

    Love to all

    Hello everyone

Jane i hope your hubby hears something soon ,its not nice when your left just waiting to hear from them.

    Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing OK?

Jane, how are you and your hubby?

Kat, I hope you are feeling better, and I seem to have heartburn as well lately and a terrible taste in my mouth, not had it before.

I’m feeling a bit better and it looks like I have to go back to work next week. My manager has let one of the girls that works for me take the week off. Either he was being silly or as a way to get me to return.... Back at the doctors tomorrow and my appointment with my Endo came through today for December 19th, I will just have to see what he has to say. :x

    Take care everyone.

    Love Maria

    Hello again,

News at last from the neurosurgeon who's secretary rang today they want us to go tomorrow evening.

Deb I hope the sore throat is not connected to your carbs, I had tests done a couple of times and it was fine although im not sure about the bruising.

Maria, it is good to get back to work and get a bit of normality back in to your life. I went back far too early and ended up using loads of leave to subsidise it. If you can I would do part time at first building it back up especially if you've been off for a while.

Bess, sue and Marigold how are you all doing?

    Jane. Xx

Hello all, havent been here for a while, but have been popping in to see how all of you are. Some of you will remember that I had RAI back in August, it's been nearly 11 weeks and for a while felt ok but now .. I'm on 125g of Throxine (since sep) but now got a swollen tongue, throat hurts, no energy and to top it all got HIVES. Have been off work since last Thursday signed off till 12 Dec. just got my bloods back T4 14.7, TSH 0.06, T3 5.1, GP says within normal range, she says Endo will know more. Thank god I'm seeing him next week. If its normal how can I feel like this?.Sorry to rant on. Hope you are all ok

    Hi Everyone,

As I thought I am going back to work on Monday. :!:

My Dr wants me to a phased return to work, but my manager wants me back full time!! I can see having a lot of problems next week not only coping with work on my own but the horrible journey as well. I’ll give it a go but if it doesn’t work out I’m thinking of leaving. I can’t believe that they are treating me like this after 10 years of service.

Sorry for my rant, I hope everyone is ok?

    Thinking of you all

    Love Maria xx

Hello everyone, thankyou for your good wishes re coming off Carbs and also for the advice re RAI, I don't feel so worried now. What would I do without you ! I am doing ok so far, was a bit worried at first because my pulse was a bit faster than normal but perhaps my body was just adapting to being without the Carbs. It seems to have settled now but of course I'm just waiting for the axe to drop !

Kat, I hope you're feeling better now and your blood test is ok.

Jo, I hope your discussion re RAI went ok, how do you feel now ?

Deb, sorry your're not feeling too good, hang on in there.

Jane, thinking of you and hubby today and hope you get on ok.

Sabine, it sounds as though you are having a horrible time, thinking of you.

Maria, don't let them push you around ! It so hurtful to give your all for such a long time and then they act as if they don't care. No wonder you are thinking of leaving.

Marigold, I had migraine aura the other day, first time for ages. It started in the supermarket, which it often does, I think the lighting sets it off. Also, I was stressed, too much on and getting tired.

Sue, how are you ? Is your tummy still swollen?

What does the doctor say about it all ?

Baz, thankyou for the advice, hope Dave and everyone I've not mentioned ok. love,

    Hello everyone.

Hi Jane. You'll be pleased hubby has got his appointment with the neurosurgeon, let's hope he gets things moving. Everything seems to be a faff these days. Take care.

Hi Deb. I have problems getting the surgery to fill the form in properly when I have my bloods checked. I've told them if I don't get T4 and TSH checked it's a waste of time. I hope you're feeling better.

Hi Sabine. Sorry you're not feeling very well. Your bloods look ok. It sounds like you could have an allergic reaction to something, that could cause hives. As your GP says the endo should know more. Take care.

Hi Maria. I think it's disgraceful expecting you to go back to work full time and not taking into account whether you are well enough. I think I'd be thinking of leaving too. Take care.

Are you ok Sue?Thinking of everyone,

    Love to all,

    Morning all,

Still got this awful rash, found out that the burning tongue was from RAI, have used that spray Difflan which is brill. Gp changed the brand of my Thyroxine this morning has she thinks it could be that. Fingers crossed. Had 14 hours sleep and still very tired and sluggish. Hope you all ok. Maria that is out of order about work surely they can't do that. If the doctor has ordered a return to work they have to abide by it.

Hi Bess. You're bound to feel on edge with coming off the carbs. I hope it all works out fine for you. smileAren't these auras a blooming nuisance? I haven't had another one, but I thought there was one coming the other day. I couldn't focus properly. Supermarket lights are awful, I always feel as though I've gone out with the wrong specs on. I can't stand bright lights, and have to close the curtains when the sun's bright. I'm like a mole. You're right about stress and getting too tired, that doesn't help either. Take care.xx

Hi Sabine. I hope the change in thyroxine helps. I think you must have had my sleep too, I didn't sleep very well last night. smile Take care.xx

    Love to all,

    Marigold
