    Hi,

I phoned the consultant this morning, he is on call at another hospital till tomorrow! His secretary has printed off my test results and will get him to call me when he is back in his office, so I have another day of waiting.

Thanks Bess and Marigold for your concern I really really appreciate it.

Jane it's really funny you saying about nosebleeds because I had quite a bad one at the end of last week. Great that you got away and even better to hear that your hubby is getting better.

Anyway I'm ok just going to dig in till tomorrow, I have an appointment with my (useless) GP on Wednesday so if getting nowhere I'm going to sit in her room till she sorts me out.

Can I just ask how often do you all see your Endo/Consultant I just got letter from the hospital saying my next appt isn't till 6th October, that will be 4 months since I saw him last!

    Love you all,

    Kat xxxxxx

    Kat,

I'm impressed that you were straight on the phone but October is pushing it to see your endo next on those levels. I go six weekly but all areas differ. Ring again in the morning if you have to don't give up until you have an explaination and you are satisfied.

I had got to the point of nosebleeds most days, i was twice at casualty and had it cortorised to stop it both times. My endo said it's not a sign of hyperthyroidism but it is connected to the high blood pressure that is. Don't worry it took two months for them to get bad enough for me to do something properly about it and see my GP. I asked specifically to be referred to ENT but he said if it's still happening when you're levels are down I will, sure enough he was right!

    Love to all

Hi Kat. You must feel like you're banging your head off a wall. Like Jane says keep ringing until you get an answer you're satisfied with.

October is a long time to wait for an appointment. I get my bloods checked every four weeks at the moment, and more often if I'm not feeling right. If I'm not happy with them, I ring the endo and he tells me what to do. If I think I need an appointment I know I can have one. This illness is bad enough without being messed about.

Good luck for tomorrow and stick to your guns.

    Love to everyone.

    Hi Everyone,

Finally my Consultant's Secretary just phoned, he has dictated a

letter to my GP and me saying that I have to go back on Carbs 20mg. She was very nice and is going to fax (why not email!) the letter to my GP this afternoon so that it is there for my appointment tomorrow morning, phew!!

No mention of for how long on Carbs or when next blood test but will ask the GP.

    Glad I've finally got somewhere.

Hope you are all doing okay?

Thanks again for all your support don't where I'd be without you lovely lot.

Hi Kat! Phew!!! That's a relief, but what a performance. It's hard work isn't it?You'll feel better soon. Good luck with your GP tomorrow. If she's anything like ours you'll need it. Take care.

Hi Sue. Count me in for the holiday. We can moan and complain to our hearts content  I'm pleased you're feeling not too bad. I'm having bother with one of my eyes, it feels like the lower eyelid is catching on my eye. Has anyone else had this problem? My eye protrudes a little bit, but it doesn't seem any worse. xxxxxx

Hi Jane. Did you get the grass cut? It's raining here now.

    Take care everyone.

Hi everyone - Kat, I'm pleased you're getting somewhere with this, what a relief to get some action.I'm up for the holiday, perhaps Jane could take us all off somewhere in the caravan - it would be like a St. Trinians day out ! Marigold, I hope your eye is more comfortable soon, my grandaughter had horrible eye problems when she was overactive, she's fine now. You shouldn't have told me about the biscuits with chocolate in ! Guess who's off to Sainsburys tomorrow ? Sue, I'm not too bad thanks, I've been walking the dog for about 45 mins a day, (poor thing's legs are getting shorter by the day) but today I really struggled and last night I notice my pulse was slower than normal so I might be hypo. Blood test Thursday, I'm a bit worried because I've been on Carbs continuously for about 14 months and wonder how long its ok to stay on them ? Hope they cant knacker your liver or anything. I have lost about 6 lbs in weight with the help of Gino D'Campo 's book Gino's Pasta. I have been eating lots of pasta and not much bread, butter, potatoes etc. (which I love). Still eating biscuits in the middle of the night though!

Dave, thinking of you, I know you were worried last time we heard from you. Hope everything ok. Hope Barry and everyone ok.

love to all you lovely lot. Bess xxx

    Morning All,

Just back from the Doctors and believe it or not she proved to be not useless after all! She said that the situation was ridiculous and that she will be looking after me from now on, maybe if she had decided to look after me maybe 2 months ago I might not be in the mess I'm in now. However feel much better about everything since talking to her, I have a blood test on the 14th and go back to see her on the 20th. She said that she would judge how I am doing by obviously checking the blood tests but also on my symptoms which is the first time i've heard that from a medical professional!

Signed off work again till I next see her.

Now whats this about a holiday, I'm in although with the weather we are having up here today we might need to hire a boat. Sue I have a karaoke machine for Marigold to sing into :-) If we took Jane's caravan we might need a trailer for all our meds, ha ha.

Bess well done you walking for 45mins a day and losing 6lbs. I think you can be on Carbs for up to 18months but if you feel like you are slowing down maybe its time for you to come off them, interesting to see what your bloods come back at.

So excited today my baby girl (she is 12, I know, I know) comes home she has been at her Granny's being spoilt for a few days can't wait to see her.

    Have a great day everyone,

    Love

    Hi all,

I'm up for the holiday, the van sleeps 5 but my driving is a bit rough round the edges so you might get more than you bargained for!

Kat, how sad am I my big baby has gone away on a school trip until friday, I only dropped him off first thing and am missing him already!!

I know I need to get out more. Glad your GP seems to be shaping up.

    Take care

Hi everyone, been reading through all the posts a few ups and downs but good to see everyone digging in.

I actually feel quite good but after my latest results the specialist wants to me to go back on the carbs at a low dose of 10 mg.

My tsh was 0.09 and t4 18.1 He wants to see me again in 2 months with a view to have a second lot of treatment of RAI.

I really am against having another dose of treatment as i would rather stay on the carbs and hope the graves goes into remission as i have been alot better than i was.

Anyones opinions would be very helpful and appreciated, take care baz

Hi Barry. Those results seem ok to me. My last ones were tsh 0.27 t4 18, but I'm on 50mcgs of thyroxine. I feel great except when I get a bit carried away and do too much then I'm tired out the next day. He's maybe frightened you're going to go hyper again. I think I'd stay on the carbs and see what happens. Take care.

Hi Jane. I'm sure we'd all manage to fit in the van. Our son is still my baby, and he's married with a baby of his own. I think I need to get out more too.

Kat. I bet you're relieved. You've actually got someone to listen. That's a novelty. As you say, pity she didn't take care of you before. Take care.

Hi Bess. You're doing well with your walking. It'll be interesting to see what your blood results are. Carbs can damage your white cells if you're on it too long. They say 18 months is long enough, but my endo said he'd kept patients on it for longer and they'd been fine.

My eye feels a bit better today. If it's not right by next week I suppose I'll have to see about it. Groan.

I love mashed potatoes. I could live on them.

    Take care.

    Hi Sue.

You're right about endos and doctors. They should have thyroid problems then we might get some sympathy.

I'm a good singer. I used to be in the school choir. I know that.s going back a bit, but when you have a talent like singing it stays with you for life. You should hear me singing in the bath. I'll sing 'I've Goitre You Under My Skin' on the karaoke machine. That would be appropriate.

I snore too according to hubby, but I think he's making it up.

    Take care.

    Love to everyone,

    Marigold
