Thanks marigold i was thinking that he said i was ever so slightly classed as over active.

It is only a low dose of carbs so hopefully it will bring me into line,if not the uptake scan should show if my gland is still hyper.

I agree with what your saying about feeling quite good at these levels  thanks for the advice

    Barry,

What a shame this is still rumbling on for you, my endo told me that once your bloods go really high the chances of remmission are considerably less likely. He also said that long term use of carbs wasn't safe especially on the high doses. He told me not to waste time going there and just get on with the rai as it would happen anyway hence why I got it after 12 weeks. Not sure if it still applies post the first set of rai. Ive never seen him since, shame, as he seemed to talk the most sense and explained everything clearly.

I can't stop chuckling at the thought of a massive trailer behind a 23 foot caravan overflowing with medication, bess' biscuits and marigolds handbags!

    Hope it works out soon.

Hi Jane. If I take all my handbags we'll need Pickfords.

Barry, the endo told me that if you have one recurrence then the chances of having another are very high so I had my RAI soon instead of hanging about.

I hope you get things sorted.

Thanks for the opinions much appreciated.

Like I said I actually feel good and walk the dog upto 2 miles a day,I think it's because my body got used to being so highly hyper that now it's only slightly hyper I'm guessing it thinks it's normal.

I like to go with my gut feelings and it's telling me not to have a 2nd dose of rai,I've actually changed my whole lifestyle my diet and ain't had a beer since last September in the hope my antibodies will go away.

At least then I will know I have tryed every possible solution.

    Onwards and upwards wink

    hi all

im up and down, feel pretty good most the time but occasionally get tired. my eyes still hurt. i bought coz i needed slightly, glasses as i thought that they would take the look out of my slightly bulging eyes. i didnt realise! glasses enhance the size of your eyes so now they look bigger than ever lol

barry, i read its better to be slightly over if anything

    take care all

Hi Barry. I think you're right not to have the second dose of RAI if you feel ok. The endo told me he was happier when my T4 was around 20.

As you say when your levels have been very high being slightly hyper is nothing to worry about.I think you're doing the right thing looking after yourself. I don't smoke or drink and get plenty of exercise. I'm careful what I eat, but I have a sweet tooth that I didn't have before, but I try not to eat too many sweet things. My weight is steady, although I could do with putting a bit of weight on. Take care.

Hi Dave. I'm pleased you're feeling pretty good most of the time. I went to the opticians recently as my vision seemed blurred and I have problems with bright lights, but she couldn't find anything wrong. Said my glasses didn't need changing. My right eye is sore at the moment and feels as though my eyelid is catching, but I don't think it's protruding any more than it was. If it's not one thing it's another.

    Take care everybody.

    Morning All,

First full week done back on the Carbs and I can definately feel something has changed. Feel as if I've slowed right down, my pulse has lowered and have stopped losing weight, in fact started to put it back on :-( could it be that the RAI has started to work, as surely the Carbs couldn't have worked that quickly! Anyway have a blood test on Thursday so time will tell.

Marigold not so good about your eyes, one of my main Graves symptoms is light sensitivity hence the diva sunglasses :-) I have tinted reading glasses which help.

Barry just reading your posts what a shame you might have to do the dreaded RAI again, i have read of people staying on a low dose of Carbs for extended periods maybe when you go back to see then Endo it will have all settled down, fingers crossed. Great that you are feeling so good.

Jane how you getting on going it alone without the Carbs? Do you have a date to go back to work?

Bess you felt like you were slowing down to what did you blood results say?

We are hoping to get away just for a week maybe in Devon have been looking on t'internet and have found some lovely wee country cottages but can't book anything till I've had my bloods back and seen the GP on the 20th

trouble is we would have to go on the 23rd so it really would be a last minute thing, hope we can get away as it would be good for us all.

It's the start of the second week of our school hols and surprise surprise it's pouring with rain!!

    Take Care Everyone,

    take care love sue xx

Sue, sorry you are not feeling good yet, hopefully this next endo appointment will be the one.

I went back to work today, doing half days at first so it wasn't too bad. I still have 700 e mails to go at before I do much. I am tired though but glad to get another step towards normal.

I have decided not to live in wait of going hypo and to worry about it when it happens, work know I'm not right yet and seem ok with that at present.

I hope everyone else is doing well and am glad Kat you are starting to come down a bit. Oh I nearly forgot I've ditched the propanolol or I would be incapable of getting up for work as they make me so groggy. Not sure if this is the right decision yet it's too early to tell but it means I'm drug free again.

    Hello everybody.

Hi Kat, it could be the RAI working. It suddenly happens when you've given up hope. smile Whether it's that or the carbs I'm pleased you're feeling better. You'll he glad when you've had your blood test then you'll know what's what. My eye still feels funny so I've been using some eye drops from the chemists. Hubby says I should go to the docs, but by the time the nurse has had a look and can't find anything, and then the doc has a look and he can't find anything either it'll be twice as bad as it is now so I'll wait a bit longer. I hope you manage to get away. As you say it'll do you all good. Take care.

Hi Sue. Sorry you're not feeling very well. I have osteoarthritis and my knees are playing up at the moment. I can't get comfy in bed. Have you got some antibiotics for your chest infection? I don't think you can fight infections so well when your thyroid is all to pot.Keep your chin up. You have a good moan when you feel like one. There's nothing like a good moan. smile

    Hi Jane.

You'll feel better now you're back at work, it's nice to feel normal again.

If you're feeling not too bad then you do right not to worry about going hypo. Everything will get sorted in it's own good time. I'm just on thyroxine now, and it's lovely not to have to think about taking pills. Just one first thing on a morning and that's it for the day.

Thinking of Barry, Dave, Bess and everyone else.

    Hi everyone,

Sue, sorry you not feeling too good and in pain. I hope you are getting something for your chest infection. Are you eating ok and managing to sleep ?

Jane, how lovely (in think!) to be back at work and drug free, you're getting there !

Marigold, have you been to a good independant optician ? Some of them are very good at diagnosis. I don't mean Specsavers etc. but a \"proper\" optician. Hope you get sorted soon.

Kat, hope you get a holiday sorted and your bloods come back ok. I stressed all weekend, wondering what my blood results would be but when I telephoned the surgery they said my T4 was 15.4 and TSH 5.1 (it was 10 last time) so I am hoping I am approaching normal (yeah right, me normal !). T3 wasn't done for some reason. The Path Lab had written on the report \"on correct dose of Carbimazole\". Sounds like I will have to carry on with it but I am a bit reassured because they did a full blood count which apparently was normal so the carbs cant be affecting my immune system etc. I have to see the GP on Thursday. Hope my blood pressure doesn't go through the roof ! My energy has picked up again (don't know why), I think its because its cooler. I don't do well in the heat. Hope Barry, Dave and all ok. Take care all, thank you for being there. Bess xxx

Hi all,I seem to be doing ok hardly no symptoms atall really,I started taking the low dose of carbs 10 mg as advised by specialist it's been a week now and I am starting to feel abit more tired but no other symptoms.

I've been on boots own multivitamin tablets for a few months now but just bought some centrum advance ones.Does anyone else take a multi vitamin ?

I've noticed these centrum advance contain 67% rda of iodine and was wondering if it was safe for us graves sufferers?

    Take care everyone baz

    Hi Barry,

That's weird because I bought a multivitamin too but when I saw that it contained iodine i didn't take it, I have had a quick look to see if I can find an iodine free one but no luck so far. Does anyone else know if it's okay to take?

Bess glad you are heading to normalsville! But with a TSH of 10 and then 5 does that not mean you are underactive? If so why the Carbs, sorry if I'm missing something.

Sue poor you my Mum gets continual chest infections and she now takes a daily low dose antibiotic has worked so far at keeping them at bay might be worth talking to the doctor about?

Jane work still ok how long are you part time for? For the first time since RAI I feel like I could cope with work again too, I'll see what the Doctor says next week.

Marigold you ok? I agree with Bess maybe a independent eye test is the way to go. I was thinking about you as I was gardening to

day well I say gardening just rearranging the weeds really :-)

I'm feeling not too bad actually probably the best in a wee while so whatever is happening I'm liking it! This is going to sound strange but the other morning when I woke up I felt like my neck or throat was clearer like I could breathe easier, anyone else noticed this?

Its beautiful up here today not a cloud in the sky.

    Love Kat xxxx

hello everyone ,Thank you all for being here ...Had my blood test yesterday ,was lucky no one was waiting so walked straight in lol must have timed it right ,my endo had wrote post rai but no t3 or t4 so asked the lady who did my bloods to write it on, then when i thought about it should it have been free t3/t4 ....My memory is still a concern ,i have just read all your posts and from clicking on to reply to this i have forgotten what you have all wrote ,its so embarressing and bloody annoying as i feel as if its something more than my thyroid ,does anyone else have this problem .My chest is still wheezy and my hips and knees still painful ,i feel a right hypochondriac ,Marigold when will the rai start to work i had mine on the 17th march and the last 2 bloods came back normal

Take care each and every one of you ,

love from a moaning fedup suffering graves sufferer  xxx

    Evening all!!

Hi Barry. I'm pleased you're doing ok. I feel fine too. Good innit? smile

Personally I wouldn't take the multivitamins if they contain iodine. I've googled it, and the advice is different everything you read. Some articles say it's good and some say not to take it. I think you probably get enough iodine from what you eat normally. Take care.

Hi Bess. I'm pleased your feeling a bit better and your energy has picked up. I don't do well in the heat either. Your bloods seem to be heading in the right direction. You could be normal yet!! How did you get on with your GP?Thanks for the advice about seeing an independent optician, that's a good idea. I'll see how it goes. I could go back to the thyroid eye clinic, but it's a long journey to get there, and it's such a faff, you're there for the afternoon. When you see the patients coming in with crosswords and library books you know you're in for a long wait.

I found some more tasty biscuits at Sainsbury's - oat and sultana. I'm leading you astray. Take care.

Hi Kat. I'm pleased you're feeling better. You must be feeling better if you feel you could cope with work. Thanks for thinking about me when you were rearranging the weeds. smile It's a never ending job, there are plenty of weeds. My eye isn't getting any worse, it looks sore in the outer corner so It would be an infection. If it's not one thing it's another.

Has your throat been worse since you had the RAI? I had trouble swallowing dry things like toast, and then that suddenly went. Take care.

Hi Sue. When will you get the results of your blood test? You'll be interested to see what it says. I have my T4 and TSH checked. My endo doesn't do the T3. I used to have a good memory, but not now. I can't remember names, and sometimes I'm half way through saying something and I forget what I was saying. Although I think it's old age in my case. I did a test on line the other day to check for Alzhiemers, and I thought I'd done well, but it said the results were poor for my age.

That cheered me up no end. I started to feel a lot better about six months after the RAI. You may not need thyroxine. Barry isn't on it. It depends how much effect the RAI has had. You'll get there. Keep your chin up. I hope your chest infection clears up soon.Take care.

    Love to everyone,

    Marigold
