Pain after Gallbladder surgery

Posted , 44 users are following.

I'm new to the group. I had my gallbladder removed 4 weeks ago by robotics. Recovery went well. I am very active and am waiting to continue back at the gym. Within the last 2 or 3 days I began getting a pain to the left of my belly button (which is where my incision is). It is almost constant with more pain with lifting, even light, and more pain with sneezing or coughing. Any ideas??

I'm new to this forum and I just had my gallbladder taken out by laparoscopic cholecystectomy just about 3days ago. And I was looking on line to view what pain might be normal. Thanks I came across this forum it put my mind to so much ease . My recovery is going well so far I was only wondering about sharp pain on my right side when I inhale deeply and even breathe I guess it's all part of healing.

I also had my gallbladder removed laproscopically 3 weeks ago. I've been healing nicely. Yesterday I started getting sharp pains in my belly button. When I examined the area...the healed over hole from an old belly button piercing had busted open and had hard pus coming out.

I had my gallbladder bladder out laproscopically one week ago today. I was in so much pain when I woke up. And for two days later I was throwing up and just miserable. I was finally able to eat some the third day, but I am still a little tenative. I have a huge bruise under my belly button and today have started having sharp pain there as well. Sitting upright at the table is almost impossible.

I feel I am at a disadvantage in the healing process since I also had a hysterectomy in October. My gallbladder has been a known entity for almost exactly two years, but after spending the night in the ER I finally relented and had it taken out.

I am so surprised that the hysterectomy was easier, since everything you read makes it sound like gb surgery is so easy and common.

I had my gallbladder removed 5 days ago. I have alot of pain around my belly button area. Im awoken during the night by intense pain. Today i discovered cold packs are helping. Mostly for me ive had 4 laproscopic surgeries since 2016 and this recent one is hurting the most or maybe i just forgot about previous pain. Get plenty of rest but moving around helps too. Wish u a speedy recovery.

Surgery scheduled for Monday and I'm already being pressured to return to work ASAP.  Some people at work saying they know others who have had it done and I should be doing pretty well after a few days.  And my job includes lifting.  I'm a fuel tanker driver and deliver gas to gas stations.  There's a lot of physicality handling the hoses and so forth. I already told them I could probably be in for a safety meeting the day after surgery.

After reading all this I think I might just quit this job and take off a few months. I'll be in debt but I know I'm going to be pressured to come back to work and I'll probably be miserable and cause further damage to my incisions and stomach after surgery.

I’ve had super loose stools/diarrhea since mine was removed in May 2017.  Also, I’ve found that I need to eat smaller meals throughout the day and never skip meals to maintain regularity... although there isn’t such a thing as “regular” anymore.  My Dr. says it’s to be expected... ugh
