Ok I'm confused. A gofundme page? I thought the problem was support after surgery, not needing money for surgery? Do u need help?

Yes exactly kym I thought the same.it has come across to me as sort of begging.. I'm not exactly rich but would never think of a go f und me page

It don't feel right to me at all.

The original posters main issue was that her hubby was going to an air show days after her surgery.

She mentions the issue with her Mother in law as that’s an added issue she is contending with.

It’s none of our business if she has a go fund me page, we don’t know her situation.

The benefit system in the USA (where I think she is) is non existent compared to ours in the U.K.

I’m lucky that when when I got reduced pay for the time off I had,  Universal credits make up the difference, we all do what we have to do, and we are not here to judge each other.

Oh god I'm not judging I'm just concerned she may need funds for necessary surgery.

      I didn’t mean you Kym04, I know you weren’t judging 😉

I just think comments about begging and “I wouldn’t do a go fund me” are not necessary, if it weren’t for our great benefit system in the U.K. I could also be in that position.

People should appreciate that not all employers pay full sick pay, for long anyway, and that if you’re dependent on two incomes coming in every month, when it reduces to one, you might have to resort to other measures.😘

      Thanks Kym

I was self employed and have no benefits and no income

My surgeon said because I.wont be able.to.lift the kids without risking reinjury I should.consider closing my in home (only me there working) daycare. I.will.seek work out of the home when my recovery is complete. I have 2 degrees that have remained unused while I.was.raising my daughters and working from home so.its time to see if they are.still useful.

Meanwhile our 2 income household is missing my income.

So hope that helps explain .

      Pollyward,

Just to clarify, DLionMamma is from Canada. I am from the United States and we actually have great care here....free to choose our own doctors and wait time  is based only on when the individual doctor can perform the surgery based on his/her schedule.  If a person cannot afford to pay, then there is Medicaid which is basically government medical assistance. Unfortunately, that is one of the many reasons so many people leave their home countries to come to the U.S. legally and illegally because of the many benefits the U.S. has to offer.

Also, I do hope you and  everyone is healing as well as expected. I am now 3 months post op anterior and posterior repair. I am almost feeling “normal” because I am in my garden for the first time this year GENTLY pulling weeds. I was out last month showing my hubby which was the weed to pull and which was the good plant to let grow, but today I am in my HAPPY place!  I think I just might be getting there😄🙏??

      Hi

My comment wasn’t meant as a critism, just that in different parts of the world there is varying medical care available.

      Hi Brenda

I read it response with interest. I'm in Australia and we're always told via the media how expensive health care is in the US and if u don't have insurance which is also super expensive people die as they can't afford procedures. I saw a doco where people were trying to get surgery done in Canada cos the cost in the US was prohibitive people were just dying.

How does it work in Australia, do you have to have insurance and if you don’t is there a back up?

      Hi

If u have health insurance u can see a specialist and have access to private hospitals ... but u also have access if u have the money to pay and no insurance. Can be costly but not as expensive as the US as I'm led to believe. We also have medicare and if u need an elective procedure u can wait to have it done in a public hospital free of charge. The waiting lists can be lengthy. My adult daughter waited 3yrs 2 get her tonsils removed.

      Oh wow, 3 years!!

It’s a relief to not have to worry about paying insurance or medical bills here, the NHS is overstretched and isn’t perfect but we are very lucky to have it.

Kim, it  is crazy what is reported on news as the truth for sure. No one is dying in the U.S.because they do not have care unless the person chooses not the go to the ER or doctor.  They  even allow you to pay out the hospital bill if you do not have the complete amount. Our current president is trying to fix the mess left by the previous president who tried to force universal health care which was to be provided by the government. The main problem we do have is doctors not wanting to go to rural areas; now people living in the country or small towns away from cities are having problems but not because of money.

Praying everyone gets great care wherever they live and all of our pelvic floors get stronger soon rather than later.

That's so funny your perspective is the opposite about universal health care the I expected. The US is the ONLY country without it. I love that here in Canada I can just GET the treatment/surgery/appointment without a bill of any kind. So strange people actually want to pay for it. Oh well. As long as we all get better.

I did wonder why people bother paying for insurance if free health care is so readily available in the US?
