Please help ladies
Ive been diagnosed aneamic due to heavy perimenopause periods.
Been on ferrous gluconate one a day but still feeling very bad. I also started another period yesterday so im probably going to lose the little iron ive stored. My anxiety is kicking in telling me something drastic is wrong with me.. I cant even go up the stairs without getting breathless. How long does it take for iron to make me feel better. I thought I should be by now. Im getting myself in such a state because my mind is telling me aneamia cant make you feel that bad?
Any ideas ladies x

I have haemochromatosis which means my body absorbs too much iron. I have to avoid vit c with meals, and drink tea, coffee, milk, red wine with meals instead. Cheese, yoghurt, calcium products also reduce the uptake of iron. So you need to do the opposite.
Break up a chewable vit c and have a piece with each meal, drink juices with high vit c with meals (not too much as full of sugar). These should be consumed with a meal so that the uptake of the iron in the meal is promoted by the vit C.

The best tip though is adding a tablespoon of molasses to your hot beverage for sweetener because molasses is LOADED with iron. One tablespoon is 70% of your daily requirement. Or make yourself some gingersnaps with lots of molasses. Who said that there aren"t perks to taking care of yourself!
Here are some other sources of iron:
raisins, almonds, dried apricots, and fortified grain cereals
