Perimenopause severe coldness?? Anyone

Hello Ladies !
I get these cold spells once a month. They are usually before my periods. My hormones are over the place right now being in perimenopause for 4 yrs now. I started to get these cold days where they was bearable in my first year. I would wake up at night and be chilled to the bone. I couldnt find anything to keep me warm. They have now turned into being so severely cold that it makes my toes sting sometimes...almost like when I was little girl playing in the snow too long. My bodie feels like I could catch the flu at any time but Im not sick with any other symtoms. My leg will go numb at times on these days.. like from the knees down to my feet. Some days I have tingling in my face around my cheeks and chin along with my hands and part of my wrist feeling tingling like it will go numb at any minute. Im not anxiuous or feeling any anxiety at these times either. I have had anxiety with my Peri but these are not the same things going on. I have seen so many doctors and no one can find anything wrong. I aslo have days during the month as if I have asthma. My chest gets so tight it hurts my jawline and my neck tightens. I have even seen an Endocrinologist an had my blood tested for any thyroid problems but they said everything looked normal. Any ladies out there with the same problems so I know its more hormones then a serious problem??? Does it ever go away after menopause?? Please let me know what youve tried that works. I CANT use HRT Ive had an ablation for Tachycardia and anything strong gives me bad heart palpitations. Maybe someone has tried a natural method that may help. Thanks Ladies !!!

I've sat and researched my "symptoms " all day , thank goodness I came across this wonderful forum . I'm 42 and have jumped from thinking I'm going mad or have some terrible condition 😩 I've recently been suffering from extremely low moods and terrible anxiety , the panic and anxiety have taken over my life and at the moment I've had to have time from work ( this is so unlike me ) I have two children who I'm trying to put a brave face on for , but I feel like I'm crumbling inside ? My heart has also decided to do crazy things and I've been put on beta blockers to try and help the crazy palpitations 😕 I have no interest in going out with friends or my appearance , which again is so unlike me , my gp tried to get me on anti depressants but after taking one I felt so spaced out it made me panic even more so I decided to leave them . It's interesting to hear the "cold" aspect of symptoms as just this week I have been unable to get warm , I've been wearing winter coats and fleecy pyjamas but still feel. frozen to the bone , it has been very comforting reading all of your stories knowing I'm not alone
Thank you ladies xx

Hello Lynsey
Your not alone in this and your definitely not going mad! 😄 I know what your saying when you said " I put on a brave face" I have 5 children but my last 2 are at home still and my youngest was 7 when I started going through this. I would go in a room and cry everytime I couldn't get behind a wheel of a car, and take them to Mcdonalds right up the block from me, with all the panic attacks I was having.😔
These symptoms are no joke at times! Just remember when reading the forums ...that no 2 people are the same.
Start off by keeping a journal of your everyday symptoms for a few months. Place them side by side and see the differences and learn when they come and go for you. Learn your hormone fluctuations daily. This will make your mind rest more easily and avoid all those days of anxiousness and stress.
There are alot of menstrual calendars you can print for free online. Hope you start to feel better soon!!
Hugs & Be blessed 😊

I have had these terrible cold/shaking chills to the bone for the past six months now. The only time I don't shake uncontrollably is when I work out or take a bath. It has caused my joints to ache, muscles are constantly ridged and my anxiety levels are so high I'm having trouble sleeping more than a few hours at a time.
I thought this was just related to anxiety but now I feel like it's hormones.
Has anyone on here taken hrt? I've taken so much otc medication and I'm getting very discouraged...
Thanks!

My doctor suggested Black Cohash but other then that I've been told diet and exercise. I have all the same sypmtoms and am constantly exhausted. This is so discouraging not being able to find something that works. My doctor does not like HRT as it causes many other problems.

Hi Michelle,
I should tell you since this started, I have not been able to tolerate any caffeine or sugar intake at all. I eat healthy and exercise as much as possible (well when I'm not exhausted)
I worked out for awhile yesterday and came home, ate and crashed for the first time in months there were no tremors or shakes for three peaceful hours.... then I woke up shaking twice as bad...
Went to an Internal Doc today who is running all kinds of tests but I won't get the results for two more weeks.
Thanks for the input!

Level,
Thanks for the reply. Tried the black cohash too and it actually made my symptoms worse! If that's possible.
Just want my hormones checked so I can go from there.... argh. I'm sick of shaking and not sleeping. Its been months now!

I was just fine, watching TV after dinner and I got super tired, then a headache started and then I got freezing cold..I just got over being sick so I thought great- getting sick again, so I took my temp..it was 95.4!! Of course, my anxiety kicked in and heart started racing, I got dizzy and thought I was dying! My husband wrapped me in my electric blanket on high and laid down with me. It lasted about 20 minutes...That was the scariest 20 minutes of my life!!! I have many symptoms of meno...hot, cold (especially at night)..headaches, you name it, but this that happened..omg..has anyone ever experienced that?? Please let me know! Thanks

Yes, Sandrande you are not alone. I called the ER the ambulance came and took me to the hospital. It passed after 30 minutes
I got dizzy, felt I couldn't breathe while my heart raced and it was pounding hard
It happened 2-3 times after that but I knew it was perimenopause so I didn't call the ambulance
But I know it's extremely scary. I hope you're better now. Take care xx
