Hi all... had my first pip assesment afew days ago... to start with i applied due to limited mobility and struggles because of my back... assessor was really nice and spebt over an hour just on mobility questions it was almost like she was filling out the form for me! (as i struggled with my form and didn't go into loads of detail... but i think from the state i was in she felt for me unless I'm living in fairyland haha! anyway near the end she said i don't even want you to attempt to do the physical exam! is this a good sign do you think? it's drivingme mad not knowing and waiting! she also only said ill get backpay from when i first asked for the forms it was like she thought i was going to get an award!?

doesn’t the final decision go on the case worker? or what is the case worker i get so confused the stagers IT goes at

Once the report has been returned to DWP it's sent to a decision maker/case manager (both the same thing) who will then make a decision. Requesting the report from DWP as previously advised will give you some idea what that decision is likely to be because they rely heavily on the report and usually go with the recommendations in there.

Hi me again..... so had a phone call from the original assessor lady earlier.. pip had asked her just to go over a coupke of the questions again? anyone had this before? does that also mean that a decision maker is looking at it now?

Sounds like they needed to verify a few things and they didn't get enough of information during the assessment. It does happen. All you can do is wait.

    • Posted

yeah i get that. but does it mean someone is looking at it? surely they must be if there going over it?

You really need to ask DWP that question. If the report has been returned then yes a decision maker will be looking at it and there's likely a contradiction somewhere but in all honesty you won't get any answers on a forum because all the answers will be guesses.

Me AGAIN! 🤣 so had a text to say they've recieved my writen report!? I'm scared of ringing to ask for it now!! feel like the decision maker wont award if i ring amd ask for it 🤦‍♀️🤔 will they know I've requested a copy?

    • Posted

Requesting a copy of the report will not go against you. Yes, they will know you requested it. Lots of people request it so i wouldn't worry about ringing for this. They mostly go with it, so at least you'll have some idea, either way.

i called and asked for me report they said they can’t give IT to me until they received IT it’s still with the case workers would this be correct if any bloody knows

    • Posted

That's correct. If both reports haven't been returned to DWP then you won't be able to have a copy until they've been returned. If they are still wil the health assessment providers then it could be that they are in an audit, if so then it can considerably delay the decision because the reports won't be returned until the audit has been completed.

Ring the health assessment providers and they will tell you if your report is in audit.

i ended up ringing f0r it anyway haha too impatient! i know what i should be entitled to so just want it to start MR just incase! he said he will send it out with my original form aswell so i can see what i said in there aswell had a text to say they'll make a decision within 6 weeks

    • Posted

If the worst does happen and the report doesn't recommend an award then you can't request the MR until the decision's been made.

The 6 weeks you were told is just a guide and nothing more, there's no timescales to any decision. Some wait just a couple of weeks and other wait several and more.

      hi Denise

would this still be the same Numbers as DWP then ask them l to put me through medical assessment?

    • Posted

No, it's a different number to ring and DWP will not put you through. You can find the number on your appointment letter that you received for your assessment. If you can't find this then a quick google search will tell you what the number is, just put the name of who ever did the assessment and you'll find it. Google is your best friend.

i didnt have a letter just a phone call out the blu she sae just asked a lot if questions on my health and spoke how things effected my life then said she was happy not for me to go for a face to face abd thats teally

Katrina, sorry i'm getting confused because there's 2 different people asking 2 different questions on the same thread. This is what happens when you ask questions on another person's thread, it causes confusion.

There will still be a report written. You'll need to find out who does the PIP assessments in your area.

Denise.... what an idiot i am 😂 so just looked at my original form i sent off!!! anyway on the mobility side of things I've ticked the wrong box!! basicly saying i can walk far unaided!! i was supposed to tick the other! the assesor has put i walked 13meters but looked in much discomfort ect! what can i do about this?? so instead of her telling me my mistake shes just said it was consistant to what i had said?? 😭

Have you looked at the dots next to all of the activities/descriptors and added the points that may have been recommended? If you haven't then i'd advise you to do this using the PIP self test (google it) once that's done you'll have some idea what score may have been recommended. They usually go with the report, it's rare to go against it.

If there's no score recommended then there won't be any award. You'll need to wait for the decision before you can request the MR.

For the mobility part, how far did you say you could walk unaided?

yes its 11points daily living. im fine with that... and 4 for mobility!! like i said shes just gone with the 1 i ticked! now urely from what i was telling her and what i seen she should of known I'd made a mistake?
