Premique Low Dose - Not in stock anywhere?

After many years on Premique Low Dose, I now find it is not in stock at any Chemists. Is anyone else having the same problem? If so, is there a similar HRT I can change to?

    HI

I was on Premique up until last november 2016. Only to find when I went to get my repeat that they could not get it anymore.  Without a consultation I was given estell duet, just got to the last 15 tablets and after looking them up on the net have just put them in the rubbish. I have gone from a size 8-10 since november and now experience hot flushes at night, sleeplessness and have become adgitated.  I have had no problems on premique 0.5mg whatsoever. Has anyone tried a pill called Livial it is supposed to be the same ingredients as Premique.

      Hi Kim

Like you I had the problem - Premique being withdrawn.  However I renewed my prescription last week and Premique is BACK. Got 3 months supply. Try several chemists and you should get lucky.

      Good luck

    Hi,

Have just phoned Pfizer about Premique 0.625/5mg which I have been taking for years with no problem. They confirmed that this has been discontinued for commercial reasons and that they have been getting a lot of calls about it - took my name and phone number. It may be that if they get enough complaints they will reconsider the decision so I would urge everyone to call them. Premique low dose isn't being dicontinued nor is Premarin but there are currently manufacturing issues with Premique low dose. In the meantime my GP has put me on Premarin and Provera in the equivalent doses.

I reported several weeks ago that Premique low dose in now available again.  I was unable to access it for a couple of months but I got a 3 month prescription four weeks ago.  Make enquiries at different chemists.  Best of luck.

      Trish,

Have only just got script for premarin and provera but apart from having to take two tablets instead of one it should be no different to Premique 0.625/5mg. Not sure that this is a long term solution so will consider trying Premique low dose when life s less hectic

Hi Trish. Have been taking the two tablets for three weeks or so with absolutely no problem apart from the inconvenience! GP did say probably not a permanent solution but I don't see why! Anyway might consider Premique low dose if it becomes available. Had been taking Premique for years - it did its job and I've never had side effects so am pretty fed up about it being discontinued 😔

I was on premique higher dose for 3 years and responding well. It's now been taken off the market. My Dr and pharmacist were grappling to find an alternative and started me on Indivina about a week ago. My breasts have been incredibly sore and today my period came back. So I decided to contact the maker of premique to ask why it was discontinued and was there a replacement. The official reason was "internal business" and no elaboration was offered. There is no replacement. So, I asked them if they were familiar with the programme "the walking dead" and said that there were going to be thousands of women all over the country baying for their blood!! They told me they'd look into whether I could get it in Europe!!!! I asked them had they not heard of Brexit! After that they offered to send me a questionnaire and for my own entertainment, I agreed! I'm training for a marathon in June so god help me lol

I was chatting to my pharmacist today and he said that this was a relatively cheap drug to produce and sell. Sometimes drug companies discontinue certain drugs, then sell the license to another company (could be a subsidiary of them) and it comes out later with a new name and possibly more expensive. We will keep our ear to the ground and hope it cones back. Imagine if this was a heart drug or a steroid? It probably wouldn't happen. But as it's "only" HRT (and I'm being facetious) it isn't that important to some

      Hi Trish

I tried Fluoxetine and a couple of the others. The only one that suited me was Sertraline.

My Pharmacist had to get my Premique low dose from another branch (Well Pharmacies)

I was on the high dose, then they couldn't get it, so was put on the low one and have felt the difference 😳

Hi Trish, yeah your doctor has given you an anti depressant. Called Prozac. I took it many years ago after a bitter divorce and it was my lifeline. My doctor and Pharmacist have said Premique definitely. Not going to be re made. I have just picked up a script for Indivina 1mg/2.5. My Pharmacist recommended it. Hey ho starting again, after 5 weeks without anything I'm. Starting to climb the walls! Watch this space.

Premique high dose is no longer being manufactured.

Premique low dose was out of production for a while, but is now available again - confirmed by Pfizer (the manufacturer).  I've found it readily available (in East Anglia) and it is also available from various online sources (at a cost).
