    Hi Alan

Sorry to hear how you are suffering.  Have you looked up cervicogenic headache?

    • Posted

No I haven't looked that up. There's so much online! Amitryptiline has eased it a little bit but I'm passed fed up now it's mentally tiring me sad

Try not to worry about the MRI Alan, they tend to always come back normal with headache sufferes like us. I'm glad the medication is making some difference, I wish mine had the same effect it used to have. I hate this constant pressure in my head all day everyday! It's physically and emotionally draining.

It's gota be stress and anxiety related. As a psychiatric nurse I just can't seem to accept it would have this effect on a person! My social life has died. I loved a drink once a month and haven't been out for many! I am so wanting to go out and have one and see how I feel but I don't want to miss a dose either x
    • Posted

I drank while on my meds so maybe that wasn't the best idea but as soon as they started to work I felt myself again and tried to live as I did before. Now though I'm back at stage 1 and I'm struggling.

I have the yhe option to increase to 50mg but not sure if that will change anything but that's my next step, just wish there was a real answer to all of this! I can't put mines down to stress or anxiety but I do know worrying about it does make it worse which the result of the tests took away at least.

ive seen hundreds of stories like ours online and none seem to have any answer on how to get back to 'normal', it's soul crushing at times.

Scott please can we talk more personally. I know you hardly know me but I need to speak with someone who's going through the same! It's hard and I think it may help. I've seen good things with amitryptiline as I prescribe this in practice.
    • Posted

      Of course Alan.

anything you want to ask or talk about I'm happy to share.

i have been like this since October last year, I've had a few months virtually pressure free until a week ago so I'm not sure if it was the medication wearing off or something else.

I dont know if this is bumping up a dead thread or something like that, but I'd really really like to know if you fixed this problem. I've had these headaches for like, 4 years now....

The way I get around them is I concentrate on other things and ignore them, but whenever i'm alone and nothing is entertaining me or I wake up, the pressure is there. When I am really stressed out it turns into actual sharp pain... I'd really like some help....

I'd love to hear about this book to, If you could let me know about it id be most grateful! smile

You are so not alone, my husband is suffering so badly. I have been trying to find a solution. And have been researching day and night and not really found anything solid in terms of a solution. I think it is down to anxiety and stress, even though he insists he doesn't have both. I think sometime you can suffer from anxiety and not realise. He has now been subscribe antidepressant and is on day two. If this doesn't help we will be looking further a field for help as the doctors here in the UK don't seem to have a clue! I'm fed up of them prescribing painkillers, antidepressants ect....and that's with a private doctor and neurologist. My next suggestion to him will be acupuncture. I hope you are ok and I know how this is so dibilitating. There has to be a solution as from my research there are thousands of people suffering!

      Kind regards

Hi. I have set up an email group and I'm doing some collective research in this area. I myself have been suffering from it for 5 months. Believe me this is not stress and anxiety but the condition definately causes it. The antidepressants is not a bad idea as it may aid him get through this mentally. Have a look at 'Isolated Sphenoid Sinusitus'. He may well have that. It is rare and often missed by doctors. Symptoms are not like normal sinus infections. What you tend it feel is facial or pressure within the head and headaches. These are made worse when walking, bending and general movement. Let me know if you would like to be involved by private messaging me with your email address. There are quite a few already in this group and we are working together to find an answer. Good luck.

      Difficulty in concentration and vision

Have you had any luck with any of your treatments?

Not with tinnitus. .it's still there but relived from pressure in head by anti depressant.

Hi. i only just came upon this discussion today. I am experiencing the same effects you are minus the tummy aches. Ive suffered from migraines/tension headaches for as long as i could remember, but recently, they are more constant and longer lasting. I dont know, but i have been told that they could be as a result of; stress, dehydration, hormone imbalances, diabetes, low or high blood pressure, low blood count and others. I started birth controls today, in an attempt to balance my hormonal issues to see if that helps. later today i am getting some rehydration salts and will take them constantly for about a week or as long as prescribed. I also have low blood count, which isnt as bad as others, it sits slightly below the norm, but i will wait on the first two to see what happens. Did a CT and nothing (then again our hospital care here isn't that much reliable). I am sorry to hear what you and all the others are going through because i know all to well how it feels. Hopefully one day there will be something that works across the board. For now, all i can suggest is to isolate your issues. Blood checks, hormonal checks -you know, the cheaper things. Deal with those and if they arent the cause, then move ont o another. Medical exams are quite expensive here so its not as easy for me to find out the cause or rule out issues. I do hope you find something soon. Let us know if you do.

Hello, I am in the US and experiencing the same symptoms my began with tinnitus, then muscle weakness now I have stomach pain with heartburn which may not be connected to what's going on in the head. I have been to neuro, cardio, and gastro,. I have had a bunch of test including blood work and MRI and nothing abnormal. The pulsating vein over my left ear seem to have subsided now with the jaw pain, but I'm hoping there is a simple explanation to these weird body expressions

the best thing to do is just try to stay calm and work through it first thing is try to change your diet a little by little and drink plenty of water I did see something about water helps and it has helped me even though I'm still going through this it's getting a tad bit better each month so don't give up and just try to hang in there.there is just too many of us with the same symptoms it's nothing major but it's just such a nuisance

Hi, I have been suffering for over 10 years with no relief.  My issues are when I use to lay down to sleep and for the last ten years I have had to sit up at 45 to 50 degrees and over the last year the same pressure in the head that starts as sinus the pain and pressure, nausea, severe dizziness, ears ringing, blood nose, worst headache that I call the black headache that feels like it is down deep in your brain.  I am also a migraine sufferer since I was a child and back in 2012 I received and implanted Neuro-Stimulator that is amazing and controls my daily migraines but has not affect on the "black headache".  I am currently on Protryptiline which is an amazing drug in itself for neropothy but also does not help, Nambutone is a pain killer that I only take when I can no longer deal with my pain and it does cut the black headache for about 4 hours and then its back on 100 percent.  I have been through every test that can give and every xray, mri, mra, catscan, they have taken cameras up through my femoral artery up to my cartoid arteries (can not remember the test name).  I am hoping that I you have made some kind of progress.  I have just started another muscle relaxer that my dr is hoping with help.  I have a neurological chiropractor that I have been working with for over 5 years and he seems to think it has to do with brain stem itself.  Have any of you seen on your MRI white spots on your brain?  I have a couple that have to do with the white matter/grey matter in the brain.  I also have had a recent discussion with a neurologist that said they have now found that the spinal fluid moves every 12 minutes,  I was a little concerned that they have just recently figured this out.  Pretty scary that all of us are the ginney pigs.  Hope to hear from you.  Cathy

      Hi cod55295,

I was in the same boat you are in now. I was sent by my family doctor years ago to a neurologist. He immediatly put me on Nortriplyne. Started me with 10 mg and worked up to 40mg then later backed off to 25mg which I am on now. 2 weeks later I was headache free and I still am. This was 4 years ago. (No more Heads). Find you a good neurologist. (Good luck) ML

Recently I also have developed head pressure like some of the others on the forum. I am confident that it is not related to my headache medicine.

My neurologist is presently working on the headpressure.

Hi, have you ever had a concussion?  With all of the new info coming out on Concussion syndrome and my history of 3 severe concussions do to car accidents.
    • Posted

I did 6 months ago, but my headaches have gotten worse not better. Thats what thw doctors chalked it up to at first, thwn my neurologist said it doesnt fit the description bc im not getting better. I had a bad headache about once a month after the concussion, then I would go to the er and they would give me a toradol shot and id be fine ..i did that for about 3 months, then the pain never went away and thats when I started to freak out.
    • Posted

Hi, The toradol is an anti-inflammatory in a shot.  That is how my migraines started.  That does not mean you are getting migraines.  Have you tried Advil or excedrin?  Try to see if you can take one or the other to see if a short course works, even if you try the lowest dose as indicated on the bottle, see if 1 or 2 pills works in a four hour period and after that period of time how do you feel.  Remember you are the one with the pain not your doctor, they cannot feel your pain,  try to see if you have any triggers, like sugar, choc, coffee, tea, alcohol, red meat, vegs or fruit.  I know it sounds like stupid thinking but you have to look at what you are eatting and drinking and how they make you feel.  You have to tune into your body.  Look online for the Anti-Inflammatory diet and see what they suggest.  Hang in there...
    • Posted

I have tried to cut triggers etc, the only time I really had constant relief was when I was on a prednisone pack (but it was a give and take as it made me horribly emotional) ive tried excedrin in low doses, it doesnt seem to do anything and I dont want to get rebound headaches..thank you for your help so far

I'm the same as you, healthy and now I have tension headaches that are destroying my life, can't work I have no idea how I can pay the mortgage, my doctor just says it can last six weeks once they kick in don't see how they can leave someone like this for six weeks before doing anything, been to chiropractor which has loosened all the muscles but headaches are no better, I'm just crushed with pressure in bed, I'm 30 by the way, this is no life for a thirty year old. I would love to know how you are doing

I am a sufferer of severe brain pressure like many of you. Currently in hospital having multiple tests such as CT scan, MRI, Lumber Puncture and multiple blood tests. CT and MRI were normal. Awaiting Lumber Puncture and blood test results. This has been going on for over 2 months now. I feel somewhat dissolutioned and my gut is that all results will come back normal. I started with acupuncture before coming into hospital. I feel that that is the path I will go down. Has anyone tried acupuncture as a form of treatment?

YES!! That's what I'm doing now? My first appointment I had request about 4 hours later and lasted about 24 hours. Unfortunately I also opted to do a liver cleanse which has now resulted in shingles on the opposite side of my ear pain. The year and had pressure has subsided somewhat but I haven't gotten the release like I got that first day. Right now just trying to get through the shingles. I still feel like I'm on the right track especially after reading everybody's responses here. I think it's important though to really research which acupuncturist you go to. What area are you in? I'll see if they can give you a referral.

Hey Sunny was just wondering if you ever found some relief for the head pressure after 11 months. I have been experiencing the same thing for 2 months now
    • Posted

I have had same feeling since December. Had an incident where my knees caved and I thought it was a brain tumor. Said it was vertigo. Since then I have convinced myself it is a brain tumor had CT scan in hospital it was negative. Waiting for results of mri but afraid to find out. I am sure the head pressure is all anxiety but it is taking over my life. I am afraid to drive but I do because I try not to give into this anxiety but it scares the h*** out of me. I stress when i know i have someplace i have to go and my head feels like it is going to blow off. I am glad for this site that other people have these symptoms and just hope my MRI results are the same as everyone else who had one.

Same everything started with me at the end of January my first symptoms where a right side ear ache and throbbing headache , I thought my ear infection had came back but I went to my GP and everything looked good there then he looked at my nose and saw a green discharge and diagnosed me with sinusitis and prescribed me with some antibiotics which did help but everything came back a week later.so all through march and April I was having a real bad stuffy nose and head pressure on the top of my head ,My doctor gave me a refferal to see a ENT and he put a camera in my nose too see if I had any polyps but everything looked good , So then he reffer me to a neurologist and I took a MRI and everything looked normal as well.

10 yrs for me too.  I've been to at least 20 diff drs and specialist including neurologist.    Still no relief.  Many MRI's, CT, spinal tap, accupuncture, massage therapy, physical therapy, surgery, holistic everything, and even botox rounds for migranes.  I'm still looking for relief.  Let me know if you have gotten any relief.
