Has anyone found a way of treating their symptoms long term? Ive been having the same experiences for 4 years but with pain behind my eye too! I have often been dismissed by Dr's as they have put the cause down as anxiety, I do not believe that this is what's causing it. Finally after such a long time I'm being referred for an MRI but am awaiting a date for that!

Hi iposted on here months ago now with pressure in head pain behimd my eyes then it caused my neck and shoulders to go into spasm. I paod to see a neurologist privately who said it was muscular skeletal headaches and to continue with physio and ametriptyline and heat packs and do certain exercises. I'm pleased to say after a longggg recovery i am about 80% there. No more pressure in my head, no headaches just still get my neck stiffening up if i do too much. They explained the hige muscle that runs up the baxk of your neck and across the top of your skull can cause these headaches which feel like a pressure being applied to your head and pain behind the eyes. I am still having physio and its really helped so just wanted to rwport back to you all.

Guys can I please get in on the group emails?

31 year old female living in NYC

Symptoms have progressed slowly over past 3 weeks

1st Pressure in my head when standing up, bending over or working out. Sensation comes and goes. I can even feel the pressure in my throat... It's really weird

2nd Rapid Heart Rate when pressure occurs

3rd Constant buzzing in my ears

4th Intense headaches that come and go

    5th Nausea and weak stomach

    6th Aversion to drinking alcohol

7th Pain in teeth and jaw (but I've always had this)

*10 days ago I completely quit drinking coffee and alcohol thinking maybe those were the culprits but now my the pressure in my head feel like I'm carrying a brick on my head! I get intense migraine headaches a few hours after waking up and I can barely function. The headaches penetrate the most pain from between my eyes and forehead and massaging my forehead seems to relieve the pain for a second.

My fiancé and mother have guessed everything from dehydration, allergies, and stress to a parasite, stiff neck or liver function!

Please tell me you have found some relief? I don't know how anyone could go on for months feeling like this. I feel like my head is going to explode : (

Hey everyone, I would love to be able to get in on the group discussions to try to figure put whats wrong with me. Like most of you, I have been experiencing most of the same symptoms. It started almost 3 months ago. I just woke up and had a killer headache in the back of my head. Along with severe stomach pain and vomiting. As I am 16, I was very concerned. I wanted to get to school and go on normally. At the time, I never thought it would last this long. The first week I went to my PCP to figure out what might be wrong. As I wanted to be done with the pain, I tried everything. Ibeproufen and tylenol did absolutely nothing for me. I went to an acupuncturist, chiropractor, and had been to get a massage. With no relief at all, I returned to my PCP. Because I was having abdominal pain, I was referred to get a CT scan of my stomach, along with nd ultrasound. Both tests came back negative. As all of the pain had not stopped, I went again back to my PCP. She then ordered for me to have an MRI and to go to a neurologist. I had the MRI, and it also came back negative. The neurologist didn't really help. He just passed it off as "daily migraines." And then he put me on meds. As that was 2 months ago, I have had many more unsuccessful tests. Along with MANY different medications. I have also had other tests like for my kidneys, my thyroid, and other tests along those lines. They also have all come back negative. Again, I am 16 and throughout all of this I have still been unable to go to school. This has added much stress to my life. The migraine has never gone away, and always remains in the back of my head. The stomach pain and nausea are irregular but I still get them about once a week. In this time I have also had other symptoms, including double vision, light headed, passing out, memory loss, confusion, paranoia, and probably other symptoms that at this time I am unable to think of. As my neurologist has had no results, I was again referred to another neurologist. Nobody really knows what might be wrong with me, as it is unheard of and not known along the medical community. Not many people seem to really believe me that I have had a headache for 3 months. But I assure you, its true and very very real to me. Sometimes the pain is so unbearable to the point that I am crying. I have still not returned to my daily life. As the time goes on, my heart rate seems to be increasing. Even when I am just laying in bed, it feels like my heart is going to beat out of my chest. I visit my doctor regularly and in over a month, have not seen my heart rate under 110. When we noticed how high it was, I have been told to check it regularly. The highest I have noticed was 138. 3 days ago, I had again returned to my PCP. She said that she had recently talked to her neice who had been experiencing most of the symptoms that I have. She said it had been going on for 15 years, and had only got an actual diagnosis this past April. The name of it is idiopathic intracranial hypertension. She wanted me to bring it to my neurologists attention next time I go in a couple weeks to figure out if it actually is that. As I now have an idea of what it might be, I have done a lot of research (leading me to this sight.) If you are having any of the symptoms as I do, you should definitely Google it. I was doing research and basically idiopathic intracranial hypertension is too much pressure in the brain. It literally means "false brain tumor." Its called that as it pretty much is the same as a large brain tumor but without the actual tumor. Because nothing shows up on any MRI or most other tests, it goes undiagnosed making it rare. Only about 200,000 people in the US. If it were more common in the medical field and tested right, more people would be diagnosed. Because it isn't, people with all of these symptoms (symptoms that I have, and what most other people in this discussion have,) people just walk around with it for years. If it is what I have, I definitely don't want to have this for years as it is making it impossible for me to do daily things like school. I was looking at what the cause are of it, and because its so rare, they don't even know what the cause of it is. But I was looking at treatments, and there are a few meds to try, and if they don't work, theres some injections that can be done to decrease the spinal fluid. And if that also does not work, brain surgery would be done. They would have to put a stent in to release the pressure from the brain. And if it goes untreated, it can eventually lead to complete vision loss. Im still unsure if that is whats wrong with me, but I definitely believe it could be as I have all the symptoms. I won't know for another few weeks and many many more tests. If anyone at all has any information about what might help me, I would really really appreciate it. Its definitely hard being 16 and not only having a headache and other terrible symptoms for 3 months. Along with the factor that most people don't believe me. And now I also have to face the fact that I may need brain surgery, or I might become blind at some point. Its a very scary realization. Im happy that I have found this group so I know that I'm not alone and this definitely is a real thing that needs to be noticed. If I fund out any more information, or come to any conclusions or diagnosis, I will definitely let the people in this conversation know. Thank you, and I'm so sorry for any of you who might also be enduring this terrible pain.

I found this which interests me because, although my eyes test ok and I haven't had vision loss, I've felt strongly that my left eye is being affected by these spells!!

I guess this is something else I can throw at my doctors now and makes some sense to me.

Thanks for posting--I'm not sure how to get you attached to the "group" discussion, but Shawn will probably see this and do it!

Okay so I was referred to another neurologist who then referred me to an eye doctor. I have also noticed problems with my left eye! I was told to ask the eye doctor to church to see if there was too much pressure in my brain, because you could probably be able to see it in my eyes. The results again all came back negative. I was given another med to try for a month, and then told to go from there. Let me know how everything goes with you. If you get any results, I would love to hear them!

I've had all of that as well . I began taking B vitamins as well as magnesium chelated and some zinc. I have a pinched nerve in my neck and the pain and pressure is pretty bad. But the b vitamins keep the stress and depression away . Better than anti depression meds. look it up!! Also add flax seed oil and chia seed to my smoothies. When the pressure is super bad I take a .05 mg Xanax and it goes away but that's at bed time because it makes me a bit sleepy. Eat lots of salmon, wild caught and foods with protein as well as foods that have anti inflammatory properties to minimize the pain caused by the inflammation . Pineapples work best when I start getting a headache . It's amazing . Every little bit works . But of course the pinched nerve is still there !!

Also having pressure headaches which are very minor: I have had a neurological tests done by my GP, been to an eye surgeon for an examination, and engaged in CBT every week and they assure me I'm fine.

Unfortunatley I am still worried. This is because, these "headaches" are not headaches per say but simply a feeling of pressure on the front of my temple; something I've experienced for 5 weeks now. In addition One pupil is more dialated then the other (but apparantley reacts fine to light) but I notice that every now and again its the opposite eye. As in one day one pupil is bigger then the other and the next it changes. For awhile my worry was having a tumor but I think it could now be something else. At the same time in another forum someone states that rhere could be a clear link between the eyes and tumor and that i shiuld go for an MRI (something the GP doesnt think is nessasary) What gives? Why the feeling of pressure so often? Its been worse in the am before taking .5 of clonazopam but recently it appears to be better during the day, but Its been an almost daily occurance, and I can't get any reasonable response anywhere. On top of this, when I was at martial arts last night I felt the pressure especially bad when I bowed out and bent over when a lot of the times its not noticable. Someone help me get rid of this?

    Hello group.

Hope this thread is still active.

    I have very similar symptoms.

Main sypmtom and how it started is head pressure when bending forward.

This increased gradually to the point where beding down in yoga it felt as it my head were about to explode.  This discomfort would stay with me for a little while.  Then any bending down (tying laces) would be immediate pressure.

A feeling that something is blocked.

I then had the headaches, always varying, temples, top of head, forehead.

Pressure then foccused itself behing the bridge of my nose and behind eyes.

Lately it has focused on my ears. Feeling full, slight ringing.

All the time a slight mental fogginess, lethargy.

Wind and cold would affect pain behind nose, eyes and temples.

    Alot of classic sinus symptoms.

Doc thought deep sinus infection, prescribed:

    -nasal spray,

-then 2 weeks of anitbiotics (seemed to help headache slightly)

    -oral and nasal steroid

Symptoms where still present. (pressure bending forward)

Saw an ENT, camera in nose, no sign of anything wrong. Diagnosed tension headaches.

Pressure now - bridge of nose, ears, upperjaw.

1 Week of amitripyilne so far to try and rule out anxiety.  ITS NOT ANXIETY OR TENSION HEADACHES. as most here may agree.

Side note: Co insiding with these symptoms is a Hard, not fast, but hard heartbeat.  Like that of anxiety. Not all the time. But noticable when resting or moving after resting. Dorctors thought was anxiety.

Poor sleep. Waking after 4/5 hrs everynight.

    awaiting MRI.

    Has anyone had any luck?

    Any new theories?

    Any help appreciated.

    Been 6 months now.
