Try xanax. That calms your nervous system it doesnt have to be a high dosage. .5 milligrams does the trick at night to get some rest. Only thing that works for me. Not. Topamax, cyclobenzaprine, nothing works.

Hi. Have you been to the doctors? Do you feel the pressure more when bending or leaning over. There are a few possible things it can be. For me it's connected to a blockage to me sphenoid sinus cavity (the one in the centre of your head).

Hi, does the sphenoid sinus cavity cause pressure in the top of the neck and back of the head?

I have also noticed my skin appears to be much paler than usual and I always wake up in the middle of the night and in the 3 months I have been bad sleep paralysis has happened to me many times which I am accustomed to now. I've never experienced this before I really feel for the people suffering. This can't be anxiety the valium does nothing!

Symptoms of sphenoid sinusitus aren't like normal sinusitus. The main symptoms are pressure felt inside the head sometimes felt on top of the head and often back if the neck. Along with that will come headaches. It's often not diagnosed for months or even years as it only accounts for around about 2% of sinus cases. Pressure and other symptoms often increase when bending or leaning over.

In my case, my sphenoid sinus cavity was blocked but it was still allowing mucus to drain so a CT scan showed a healthy sinus cavity with a blocked Ostia (drainage point). I'm currently seeing an Ears, Nose and Throat specialist. I've been like this for a year and want the operation that can open my sphenoid sinus drainage point, I believe this will cure me.

I noticed your user name, Boro. Are you from Middlesbrough? I'm only about 30 miles from there.

      Yes I am from middlesbrough.

My MRI came back normal so they say but I am going to ask for a copy and get them to look into inflammation in the sinus region perhaps. I have really intense disorientation and vertigo and the pain in the back of my brain will not cease.

From what you have learned could you tell me why a sinus issue would cause these symptoms or if it would at all thanks for the info and the quick response.

Yes I'll deffinatley get a copy of my MRI for us to all have a look at as soon as possible

I really look Ill awful bags under my eyes and paler skin it seems can you relate to this. I get odd pains around my ankles and upper back lately. When the symptoms first came about I had a sharp pain in the bottom of my right foot for weeks for no reason and diarrhea. Heart and BP is all fine I was told.

Yes, I think I'm not as bad as I used to be, I basically walked around like a zombie. What made it worse was the fact that nobody new what I had. Doctors still doubt me but I think I'm getting there.

I've sent you an email. Just check to make sure you have it.

Did you get the op? I’m desperate to hear back from some1 experiencing similar symptoms. Mine started of with pressure in ears and tionitus to then vertigo and vomiting now my biggest problem is pressure and pain in back of head and neck. Betahistine reduce the pressure a bit but that’s it. I don’t think I can go on like this xx

They keep telling me its a headache too. Its very hard to live with. Its shocking to work with. Ive had scans. Came back normal. Its getting worse and worse as the months go on. It used to ease up but never fully go away. Sone days were worse than others. But now its shocking every single day. The ent started me on a tablet called Serc. But it doesnt help at all. The pressure is so bad. My head is so heavy. When its so bad i need to lay down and i get sleepy. Dr keeps sending me for hearing tests. I keep saying its nothing to do with my ears and my tests are normal. No one seems to be listening sad i just cant cope with it anymore. Lets hope we can all get some answers off this board. Ive had it for about 2yrs now. Gradually getting worse n worse. Now its unbearable 24/7.

Hi Amy, I have suffered with this for over 3 years now. I have had the scans, and all came clear. I am in the UK military, so out of chance I went to see my physio, he had a look and placed me face down, the next thing I new I was in tears with pain, felt like my forehead had being smashed with a brick, 10 minutes later I was for the first time nearly pain free. After sitting up it subsided and eased. I spoke with my physio, and he explained that it's a new area being looked at, but he described all the back muscles going up your neck into your head get tensed through crouching whilst sitting particularly at a desk, and this causes all your pressure points in your forehead and down the sides of your face to give very discomforting pain. A lot believe it's sinus related, but actually it's all your back neck muscles. All he does is puts thumb pressure onto the muscles as far up in my neck as he can feel. Eventually this releases the pressure. I see him every two weeks now,and have also learned how to put my thumbs into the back of my neck to help release the feeling if it starts coming on. It's a suggestion, you might want to try and seek help with. It works believe me. Best wishes. Andy

Hi, I find pressing the back of my neck helps as this is where the sphenoid sinus drainage points are.

Thankyou smile I'll give it a go! I do sit at a desk all day. Glad you're getting the right help now. Fingers crossed a physio can help me. Thanks again.

Hi Amy I can totally relate. Been over a year for me. If you would like to join my Email Group for fellow sufferers of this please private message me. I bet if you looked at your scan it would show clogging at the sphenoid sinus cavity.
