Could it be iodine deficiency? I had little head pressures at nights. It was a weird feeling and when I put hand on my head or pressyou head it helped the pressure to go away. Thats been going for a few months. One day i discovered i had node size of a marble ball below my thyroids. Then I went to a doctor who diagnosed my iodine defficiency. She tested nodemail and thank goodness it was benign. She prescribed me supplements, iodine drops. She is natural doctor and treats with vitamins and herbs and supplements. After a month or so my mild head pressure was gone. But when she adjusted my iodine intakes i became low on iodine again. And now i have mild evening head pressures while upright. So I'm guessing it could be iodine deficiency or hormonal imbalance.

Hi have you seen a doctor? What's your exact symptoms and I may be able to suggest what you might have?

Hello everyone, fortunately I found others who are suffering with similar symptoms as I am, but it is unfortunate you guys are suffering. I have had head pressure and other weird symptoms for like 7-8 years now, I have no clue how I have managed to put up with it, it is incapacitating and disabling. At one point I had no choice, but to apply for disability benefits, which I was denied. I have researched on the subject and have experimented with various treatments, but no luck! Some say it can be a hormone deficiency, vitamin deficiency, I have tried treatment for adrenal insufficiency, testosterone deficiency, estrogen deficiency, and high dose vitamin combinations, no improvement. Unfortunately I have no income, but I have seen a doctor maybe 3 times and had an MRI of my cervical spine and head, everything is normal. I can already see by reading some posts that there is no help found through doctors. My main symptoms are the following severe head pressure (feels like it is going to knock me to the ground), cervical neck and throracic spine clicks and cracks extensively ( feels like my spine is loose), dizziness, sometimes feel like I am losing my balance, weird sensations through out my body, like electricity is flowing through my body, muscle twitching, feeling run down, hard to concentrate, etc.. I think I know what it is, but its almost impossible for me to stay away from it. I am currently a nursing student, working on getting a BSN, honestly I do not know how I am still in the program, everyday is a day of suffering, its soo difficult to study and care for others while you are feeling dizziness, head pressure, and a spine that feels like it is going to collapse, I fear of an increase in severity to the point I can no longer stay in school and graduate. I am a person that is awake and brilliant, even though some may think I am crazy, but I experiment alot! I know things many don't, After all the years of suffering I honestly feel that what I am suffering from is influenced by wireless technology, cell phone use. I have had times when I avoid my cell phone and reduce my exposure to wireless technologies and my symptoms start to subside to the point of feeling back to normal, but since I am currently in school, I can not avoid it, even my household members use cell phones, but they also complain about feeling bad, especially my younger brother, he also complains of head pressure. My younger brother spends 24hrs a day on the cell phone, he never feels good always complaining. My question to everyone on here, do you guys spend most of the day using your cell phone or wireless technology? If so that can very well be whats going on with you, try staying away from all wireless technology, including your cellphones for at least 2-3 weeks and get back to me. Trust me cellphones/wireless technology has an effect on our physiology, have you ever thought about how a cell phone communicates with towers miles away? That is pretty powerful stuff, remember our bodies are in the middle of that communication. I see 15 year old's posting on here with the same issue, they are highly unlikely to have a hormone deficiency, we all have the use of wireless technology in common. Also, if the cause is the wireless technology, this country needs to help those affected, they cannot lead normal lives, we must be compensated, it is not our fault and out of our control. My teenage years were absent of wireless technology, I am 37 by the way, those were the best years of my life, I felt amazing...

Get a CT scan of your head and check for sphenoid sinus issues. That's what I think is causing this in lots of people. Maybe pollution in the air etc that gets our airways clogged up

Thank you, I appreciate your recommendation, but just analyzing my symptoms I can rule out sphenoid sinus issues. Sphenoid sinus issues will not cause my spine to click and crack and feel loose, also, it will not cause all the other weird peripheral sensations, and the muscle twitching, it is something affecting the body systemically.

If your symptoms are just head pressure and feeling stuffy, then I would say yeah could be, because it is occuring in isolation, not systemically.

I have had pressure in my head when I move around for about 3 years now.  It started when I had vertigo..  Although it may not be wise, I were a neck colar (foam type you can purchase in the drug store) and as soon as I put it on my symptoms disaapear.  Try to only wear it when I am on the computer, doing the dishes, things like that taht bring on my symptoms. I sometimes wear a few scarves when I go out and if I happen to look won, like when shopping, it helps.

I found an article about someone who went to an ear Dr and they were given exercises and it went away.  I will post it when I find the article again. Best of luck!

I have this for 2 years now I thought that it might have been eye strain so I went to get my eyes checked and apparently have a really small perscription. Wearing my glasses sometimes relieves the pressure but not for long. Symptoms are, pressure behind the eyes and neck where my glands are, pressure in the ears. I also have a stiff neck and if I press on the top of my head I get a wave or rush inside my skull. I have been to the doctors maybe 7 times in the last 2 years about it, 1 ENT and a CT scan later and their best guess is that I am suffering from anxiety and stress.

I am definitely suffering from anxiety and stress but it is caused by this head pressure. I have been on maybe 4 courses of anti-biotics and it seems to go away for maybe two weeks from the start of the course but then is back in full by week 3 or 4. I have had my bloods checked on 3 occasions and have been given a holter monitor which has all come back ok. I have also been using a Neti pot to clean the sinus area daily but the pressure persists.

From today I am going to start monitoring what I am doing to treat this condition very closely to see if small changes in diet or behaviour helps. The things I am doing at the moment and will continue to do into the future are:

    - Use the Neti pot daily to clean sinus area

    - Take multi vitamin supplements

    - Take anti-histamines to reduce the effects of allergies

    - Drink 1-2 litres of water daily

    - Reduce caffine intake

    - Exercise daily with a brisk 30 minute walk

    - Make sure living area is clear of mold and other dust sources by doing a deep clean on a weekly basis

    - Floss nightly along with brushing twice a day to make sure that my teeth arent causing any irritations

    Things that seem to help:

    - Lying down

    - Recently spent the weekend by the sea and didnt notice any symptoms while I was down there, pressure came back the night I was back home.

    - Wearing glasses seems to help, the glasses are tight on my head because they mark my noise quiet badly and need to be adjusted. This only works for a few hours.

    - Symptoms are only present from around 10-11am and last until going to sleep around 10-11pm

    - Overcast weather makes it worse

    - Looking at a computer screen for too long also seems to make the pressure worse, I use computers in work and for hobby projects so my eyes do get tired, which is why I initially thought it was causing the sensation in my face

Update: Almost 3 weeks now and I have been drinking water, taking anti-histamines, walking, and using the neti pot ocassionally. I still get the headaches but Im now convinced that it is my eyes. Nothing seems to be easing the pressure unless I wear my glasses and after about 5-10 minutes the pressure eases off.

I'm going to continue to treat the sympthoms as if they are being caused by sinusitis while also keeping track of when I wear my glasses. What makes it difficult to tell what is causing it is that the light intensity is constantly changing, if I sit in a room with low light I dont seem to get the pressure nor do I have to wear glasses but as soon as the light is anyway bright or strong I can feel the pressure building. The light intensity getting stronger is usually when I go outside in the open, which also exposes me to pollen and othe irritants in the air which may cause the sinus discomfort.

      Results so far are:

      - No change in sympthoms due to sinus treatments.

      - Wearing my glasses eases the pressure considerably and returns when the glasses are taken off. (glasses are tight on my head marking my nose, could be a pressure point on my head/face that is causing the pressure to ease?)

What symptoms are you experiencing? How long has it been, have you seen a doctor?

    Hi there,

i know you posted this awhile ago, but are you still getting pressure type headaches? I have had them for over 15 years on and off. I was managing them pretty well up until a few months ago. I have been to an ENT and have an appointment with a neurologist. My pain is in my temples and travel down to the bridge of my nose. Some days I feel my nose with explode. I don't have sinus issues.

Its driving me crazy trying to figure it all out.

Hi, check out sphenoid sinusitus. It isn't like normal sinus symptoms. Do your headaches get worse when bending over?

I'm going in for an operation in 6 weeks to hopefully sort out this problem.
