I've had head pressure for over 5 years now, I don't get it every day, about once a week, it has sort of like a pattern. I will wake in the morning, I will feel like a heaviness in the back of my neck, I also get sciatic pain accompanying the pressure, so these symptoms warn of my long day with the "head pressure". I've had several MRIs, I go for two more Oct 5th. I've had all sort of blood testing. The MRIs revealed a small tumor on my pituitary gland, which is not the cause of the pressure, the doc says, they also see a golf ball size cyst in the posterior fossa of the inside my skull, which the doc says isn't causing the pressure either because apparently they're common. Referring back to the tumor, it's 100% asymptomatic, it's just there. So the rest of my spine is pretty bad, I have multiple pinched nerves, herniations, I have confirmed arthritis in my spine. The doc says this is my problem, the spine, any kind of pinched nerve, damage to the spine can cause all sorts of problems... So let me get back to my symptoms, this "head pressure" that has at times drove me to the end of my rope. Like I said it's about once a week, I know from the time a wake if I'm going to have it, I get ready for work, get in my car, feeling the tension build more in my neck, get to work step out if my car, star to walk, the pressure starts to build in my head, my hearing goes in and out in pulsing with my heart beat, the pressure is so bad sometimes I have to squat and hold my head or lean against the wall or sit down, if I sit down it will nearly go completely away for a moment, but if I sit there to long, when I stand the pressure will come on again, I either need to be up on my feet all day with constant movement it's not so bad, or sit all day and never get up till the next day. Unfortunately I drive all day, have to get in and out of the car numerous times a day, oh and sciatic pain it's only been bothering me for like 2 years now and it only comes when I'm having the pressure in my head. The pressure is bad and I'm tired, I'm tired of dealing with it.

Hi Alan,
I've been experiencing head pressure, eye floaters, and visual impairment for almost 3 years now. I'm just getting around to see a nuerologist because I've had every other test done (Ultra sound on my abdominal, ultra sound on my thyroid, upper endoscopy, 3 eye exams, cat scans of the brain, AND NOTHING). They found a tooth infection (got my tooth pulled) and an ulcer which was treated and gone now. I wake up every morning and pray it will go away but nothing changes. I'm 23 years old, eat healthy, and exercise daily. I just want to be normal again and it's becoming mentally and physically exhausting. Were you ever able to fix your problem? Any advice, information, etc. would be great!
It's not anxiety, it's not stress, and it's not tension or migraine headaches. I believe it's some sort of neck or brain trauma that may be causing a chemical imbalance in my head or triggering some nerves the wrong way.

I have also been suffering with this problem for 6 months .. .had 2 mri's and visit with neurologist says mri are perfectly normal but with may be a sinus problem ... so off to see ENT ... saw him monday said the mri's show no problems with sinuses ..... said I need physio on my neck .... waiting for appointment now, but am sceptical.
Noticed problem when stooping down, headache on left side.. progressed to pain over and across both side of my head .. painful when coughing and very painful when sneezing .... also I have this constant humming/buzzing in my ears, worse when loud or bass sounds .... pressure (like when you are in an aircraft or up a mountain) constantly .... better if outside and worse when in confined places such as the car .... and much better when in the quiet ... also sometimes painful eyes when looking left and right or touching them ... my hearing goes from 20% to 70% down, but is always muffled .... I am really hoping something can be done.

To be honest, I think you might have a blocked sphenoid sinus ostia. I've gone over a year and a half with these symptoms but will have an operation in 2 weeks to open up the sphenoid sinus cavity. It's the cavity deep in the centre of you head between your nose and eyes. I believe ENTs are misdiagnosing the scans and in 2 weeks I might be able to prove it if I'm cured. My 2 MRI scans and CT scan were all deemed normal until one ENT surgeon compared my symptoms to the ct scan and saw a potential problem. A problem missed by 3 ENTs.

Hello all,
I've been suffering with the same issues as many others in this forum have for a long time but I've finally found relief. This has worked for me and hopefully it will for others. Just a little background though.... Today, I was at my desk at work feeling the pressure as I always do and pulled both of my ears down and felt some relief. As soon as I released though, the pressure came back. This led me to believe that something is going on with my ears obviously so I stuck my finger in one ear and shook pretty violently like many do when they that inner ear itch. After doing so I felt some relief so I did it with the other ear and felt even more.
I did this a couple of hours ago and the pressure is still gone for the most part. Since doing this I've felt a cool sensation in both ears as if some sort of liquid drained out. Now I feel a little off because I'm trying to adjust to not feeling the pressure that I've felt for so long but I'm not complaining. I prayed about this last night and this morning and as God always does, He showed up right on time.
I know this sounds overly simple but it worked for me. The doctors couldn't help me but God definitely has and hopefully this works for someone else! God bless!

Hi there, I'm not sure if you ever got a true reply to this but here goes, as a health care professional I will tell you that some head aches actually come from leaking spinal fluid in your back. Yup, you heard me right! It can also be leaking from several places in your back and can typically be patched up one by one with your own blood (they clott into little tiny tacs first of course so to speak). Do let me know if you have any questions and please I beg you, pass this bit of wisdom on as I have been able help so many and would love to help more!

I think you could be right about sphenoid sinus problems. I'm having surgery to open up my sphenoid sinus cavity next week. My symptoms are head pressure, discomfort deep behind my nose, headaches which are on top or back of head and a constant stiff neck.

Please feel free to pass it on. My head is full of health care advice, meds Docs don't know about...yet, and rare, although only rare in Docs minds, diseases, disorders, and syndromes such as ones I suffer from: EDS, POTS, MCAD/MCAS, etc... and sadly no cures...well Mast Cell Activation has Chemotherapy which I take but it's not a cure as it was when I had cancer...Yeah, friends like to joke that I enjoy getting all MegaWhoppers or illnesses. If anyone needs info on those, please let them know I quite a source (being bed bound has given me tons of time for research)

This could definitely be the issue..unless you had Chiari-Malformation...though highly doubtful considering you haven't complained of any other bodily issues that would point to EDS and you can't have CM without having EDS, Technically speaking. I had my adenoids removed and my sinus cavity fixed back when and I recall all the pressure behind my cheeks and more pain when eating (as they sit right above)...headaches not so much...till I got Hypertension at 17 (genetic, cuz who doesn't love to have high blood pressure at that age lol)

You are absolutely right Nancy... This is also more of a possibility for me because I have Marfans Syndrome, I go for more MRIs as soon as they call me with insurance approval. The thing is, I wish they would do the MRIs while I'm having the Head pressure. I've been trying the vitamin regiment I read on here, multiple vitamin and extra magnesium, went two weeks without the head pressure, then yesterday I started my period, the head pressure came on, not real bad though, it's almost like I had the energy to deal with it. And the head pressure doesn't always come when I start, but more so than not.

I forgot to ask, is your scleroderma systemic or non systemic? I used to joke that Systemic Sleroderma is the oppositve of EDS Ehlers Danlos because one hardens your connective tissue and other destroys it starting from birth so many of us don't live to see our 40s and I'm sure you see why...if your whole body from hair down to your toe nails and everysingle thing inside and outside is just falling appart then we're prone to Aneurysms of the heart...well needless to say my heart has deteriorated over 15% in 1 year alone and last week at the ER they pulled the tape to my cardiac monitor too fast and took my skin with it...enough my depressing bed bound life; well of course systemic scleroderma is much the same way but doesn't start when you're born, occurrs more slowly over time and begins with the skin before "going inwards" so to speak. There are less than 200,000 cases yearly in the US but I don't particularly like to look at that ever since I got rapid rhabdomylosis causing kidney failure, liver failure and 3 blood clots and that also has fewer than 200,000 yearly. Do you have any questions you'd like to ask or for me to research?
