Pressure in head!!!!!!!

i have been getting pressure in head for months and it is daily and constant now. I have tried allsorts! Chiropractor, eye tests, dentist, medication.........I have just had MRI and don't think it'll show anything serious up!!!

Please can anyone help......don't think it's anxiety or stress, not sinusitis......god knows but it's getting me down and i am desperate!

    i was wondering, does any of you find relief or notice that the pressure changes places if you lay down in a certain position, or apply pressure to  another part of your head? For instance when put pressure on my chin i feel that sometimes it eases the pressure.

      Certain positions don't seem to help with head pressure. It just seems to come and go. I think stress makes it worse for me, though.  It's an awful feeling, that's for sure.

      Wow. I just put pressure under my chin and I felt almost instant relief. I've been feeling constant pressure for more than 2 years around my Jaw / Ear area on the left side of my head. I've been wondering if this was TMJ related.

    Read up on earth changes symptoms called DNA activation I could put mine in to medical terms either good luck do your research and Incase it high bp read on natural remedy for it.

    I created this account just to help everybody with this symptom. Sorry for my bad english.

    First, i'm not a doctor, and this post is just for information.

    I had a pressure in back of my head for 3 weeks. It started suddenly, and none painkiller worked, but finally i'm free.

    In 3 days after it started, i was going crazy with that pressure and headache, i was afraid of brain tumour.

    I visited an neurologist, he did a clinical exam (checked my eyes to see my intracranial pressure), my reflexes, pressure and blood circulation, all normal.

    I asked it for a RMI or a CT Scan, then he told that based on clinical exam, that was not necessary.

    He did a brain mapping on me, and found that my occipital nerves were causing the pain and the pressure. On the generated figure, the back of my head was incredible dark red.

    He prescribed me clomipramine and escitalopram. I questioned him about these antidepressants. He told me it was not depression, these drugs can act on headaches prevention and muscle relaxation.

    I asked about brain tumor, and he laught. He told that a brain tumor never causes a headache as primary symptom, even it does, it's not for so long. Usually, brain tumours causes loss of vision or body parts movements.

    I questioned about the name of my problem, he simply told that a muscle pressioned an occipital nerve, it even doesn't have a "problem name".

    About 2 weeks taking these medications, i am 90% better, and didn't had any side effect.

    Don't worry about brain tumor guys, and do a brain mapping before any RMI or CT scan (that maybe exposes you to high levels of radiation and the risk of taking constrast).

    If there is a tumour on your head, a brain mapping will figure out that something is wrong, then you should do a CT or an RMI.

    I have the same i do think its anxiety 100%had tests done please try liquerice root capsules from holland barrat drink at least 5 glasses of water day cut out caffeine lower sugar salt intake eat bananas cut down on full fat milk this as worked for me helped with anxiety taken off most of the pressure let me know how you do

    Just wondering...When I have pressure on top of my head, I sometimes get scalp tingling too.  Anyone experience that?  My doctors have no idea whether it's from arthritis in my neck or a problem with circulation, or something else. Wish we could all get some answers, since so many of us have similar problems. This forum really has helped me.

      Sounds like tension headaches anxiety is a big contributor to the severity. Also health anxiety is the worst we interpret every little feeling as being catastrophic and are overly sensitive to what our bodies are doing compared to the average person

      I think anxiety always makes things seem scarier. That's very true. So you get head tinging too with the pressure on top of your head?  Not fun. Especially when there's fatigue, lightheadedness, and plugged ears as well. .

      It really does sound like anxiety and tension headaches from always been on edge it causes tension in the neck and scalenes and we don't even realize it's happening because we are so used to it. The tension can also put extra pressure on the nerves causing the tingling sensations in the head and hands. We knowe this because we've had all the tests and they come back clear but we don't want to believe it because of these sensations and feelings it has to be something more which in turn gives us the dreaded health anxiety on top.

      Sorry and yes have very similar symptoms to you. Even the plugged ears I've had ct scans eng test all that fun stuff. You will persevere you are ok. We are all ok. Just different than others maybe they're messed up not us lol.

      Thanks, Shaun.  One last question:  I have very heavy fatigue in the afternoons, and simply have to stop what I'm doing and rest or nap.  Maybe that's just being older, or the heart pounding I get each day for awhile, but I wonder whether it's just from the allergy, ear, and sinus issues, plus anxiety.  What's your take on it?  (Others can answer too. I love this group!)

      Depends really could come down to diet and exercise fatigue can also come from the anxiety/mild depression. Have you ever had a stress test done? Might be something to consider to be on the safe side

      Hi Shaun,

      I've got quite a strange pressure feeling in my temples?? I'm not if it's tension pain or anything else??

      I've been learning a new job so whether it's related to that or not I don't know?

      It hasn't been theee all day but it's still bothering me??

      Any ideas?

      Yes, had a stress test done, and it was okay. Also an echocardiogram, and  wore a 30 day heart monitor too, in the last few years. I had scarlet fever when young and have some mild valve damage that I get checked every five years or so.  So far, it hasn't gotten a lot worse. I do hate the daily heart palps and hearing the heartbeat in my ears.  And you know the rest of the issues I have...same as most of you.  So I won't repeat that stuff.  I guess the fatigue could be from any one or a combo of the above. I should try not to get anxious about it, but I still do. (I guess we all do here.)   :-)

      What's your diet like? How much water do you drink? Certain things like caffeine cause palpitations along with dehydration. When you get then try coughing or tensing up your body while holding your breath. Palpitations are a very normal thing even for the extremely healthy up to 6 per minute is considered normal

      I drink a lot of water, anywhere from 8 to 10 eight ounce glasses.  Since I've had GERD (acid reflux/heartburn) for over a decade, and can't use any of the prescription medications for it, I have to really watch what I consume.  I can usually drink a fairly weak cup of green decaf tea each morning, but some mornings I drink chamomile tea or water instead.  I can't drink any other liquids other than maybe a cup or so of coconut milk now and then (delicious on oatmeal).   No coffee, no other tea, no soda, no alcoholic beverages, no cocoa, you get the drift.  I 'm used to it. The only fruit I can eat without problems are bananas, grapes, and  small amounts of applesauce. I can eat most meat, poultry and fish if not fried or cooked in sauces like tomato or rich creamy ones. I tend to eat less meat and all kinds of  veggies.  Why can't I take heartburn meds?  Because they cause  serious heart arrhythmias in some people (about 1 out of 5) after taking them for several years.  I had been on Nexium for about four years and suddenly developed an arrhythmia of about 8500 irregular beats a day. My cardiologist said to taper off the Nexium, and within a month of tapering off, and eating foods that were high in magnesium, the heart arrhythmia was gone. I've had to avoid most reflux trigger foods, most of the time.  When I do get a little heartburn, I use generic Rolaids which have magnesium added.  But I often don't need to take any antacid at all if I eat well.  I've probably said far more than you wanted to know about my diet here. (Sorry.) Maybe it will help someone.  I'll try your idea of coughing or tensing while holding my breath.  Worth a try! Thanks very much, Shaun, for the idea.

      The pounding in my ears varies in loudness.  It's worse when I first wake up in the morning or from a nap, or after a meal, or with activity.  (Times when the heart normally beats faster.)  Sounds like a loud drum in rhythm with my heartbeat when it's pounding hard. That is what usually triggers my anxiety, because although doctors say I'm fine, I still get scared.)   Then it will calm down to a soft pounding  when I'm just sitting or doing quiet activities.  It can get worse after eating, certain  foods, like ones with MSG, ones with black pepper, sugar, or too much dairy (lite sour cream, frozen yogurt, etdc. When I  climb stairs or walk about half a block, the pounding is again very loud, and I can really feel the throbbing. (Again, anxiety sets in.  So, I can't get out and walk a lo because it's unnerving.. I used to walk several miles a day before the pulsatile tinnitus began in 2011.  I also have the high-pitched ringing kind of tinnitus (came with some hearing loss nafter a virus), but I've become used to that and seldom am bothered by it anymore. It is what it is.
