Hi I've been having this head pressure going on for 2 years now, it's not a normal headache or migraine it's with me 24/7 I've had mri, 2 ct scans of my sinuses, I've seen a neurologist who thinks maybe intracranial hypertension or migraine, I feel dizzy alot of the time and kind of spaced out! All started when I woke up feeling a bit unwell 1 day struggled to get out of bed, ended up having panic attacks and ever since been left with this pressure in my head! I feel like my brain is damaged somehow, very bad fatigue, depression and anxiety! I'm quite scared as I don't know what's going on! Please please if anyone knows anything that might help or explain some things let me know please x

Hi James, My name is Paul and assume you read my entry from awhile ago. All I can say at this point is we have similar symptoms and have not received a certain diagnosis for the pressure. We however differ in that mine didn't start the way yours did. Sorry you are having such problems that are understandably difficult to deal with. I have also seen a Neurologist who thinks my problem might also be migraine in nature but none have come up with solution. Have you been to an ear, nose and throat specialist for the dizziness ?

Hi Paul thanks for your reply mate, whereabouts are you from? I'm in the uk... I have no idea what is going on with me but its the worst imaginable torture! I keep thinking there's something wrong with my brain and its affecting me both physically and mentally now! I have some testing to do and some more doctors to see how are you doing?

Hi James, I'm from New Jersey. I've always described it as torture also. I really don't what our differences are except perhaps a constant kind of head pressure. My latest is I got a Botox treatment (about 30 low dose injections all around my head and neck in one sitting). It seems like everything doctors try make it worse. This one is no different and the side affects last over 2 months. I have been to every specialist there is and have had numerous CT and MRI scans, all of which are negatives. I hope you don't let it get you down too much and if I were you I would continue seeing doctors as I have. Are you sensitive to medications?

      Good Luck, Paul

Hi Paul thanks for your reply how are you doing now? I'm still suffering quite bad, sometimes this makes me feel like I'm detached from reality! Seems like some kind of pressure tension from the back of my head and neck, I'm pretty sure it's messing with my ears as they are always tense and pulsating which feels like the tensor tympani muscle inside the ear, it's a reflex muscle... I think this is being brought into play making things alot worse for me as it sends out what feels like a ripple affect of spasms throughout the sides of my head! Also do you have any sinus problems?? I thought this was sinus problems initially until I had all the tests and scans, 1 which showed mucosal disease! My eyes always hurt now, they're bloodshot permanently and they burn, I can never breathe through my nose properly especially in the morning!!! I feel like my brain has got flu or I'm on a bad trip! Its pretty terrifying and has boosted my anxiety and diminished my confidence! If I can get 50% I will be happy

Hi James, much of what you describe is similar but I just have head pressure I believe is related to an arthritic condition in my neck, sinus pressure and perhaps in general an inflamatory related cause. This has continued to be speculation on my part because over the years not one of the many specialists has diagnosed the cause or causes. I had 4 sinus surgeries beginning 1992 because of ongoing sinus infections. The infections have been gone for about 3-4 yrs. but sinus pressure still exists. That's why I believe it is an inflamatory problem. All I can suggest is that you continue to see specialists upon advice or referral by your primary. Sorry I haven't been of more help but I can add one more bit of information. For decades I had headaches including pain and once I received radio frequency ablation pain has been gone. I now deal with only the head pressure. Take care and good luck, Paul.

Radio frequency ablation to kill the nerves?? This sounds like something I'd want because it's not just the pressure it's the weird contractions and nerve pulses especially around my ears! I get horrible nervy type feelings especially in my right ear, it's not pain but more like a pulsating tension, my sinuses are clear also apart from mucosal disease which was picked up on ct scan, my eyes always hurt, burn, pressure and bloodshot! I don't really feel like myself to be honest just a heavy lazy head full of pressure! I still think it's either sinus or nerves as it doesn't feel like a typical headache! Anyways I will continue to seek medical help and or treatment as I'm quite desperate! Did you ever feel different, kinda stoned feeling with lots of anxiety??

Hi James, RFA was not the solution in my case, but it did reduce pain almost entirely. I've had none of symptoms you experience, e.g.: weird contractions, etc; pulsating tension, eyes issues and my sinus issues originated from damage done from dental surgery. I really understand what you are dealing with on a daily basis as I am but there are differences. I would not describe mine as desperate, a stoned feeling and not sure about anxiety because maybe we all deal with things in different ways. For example, at this point I almost feel like a Guianea Pig because many things tried by specialists made the symptoms worse on a temporary basis but then you may not compare that to you because I am very sensitive medications (steroids, botox, ocipital nerve injections and Aimovig even though I don't have migraine headaches.) I also will consider treatment but with considerably more caution.

mines started two years ago and im convinced it was due to having dental veneers fitted. my bite changed and on top of that i am a teeth grinder. i became sick, dizzy, off balance and intolerable pain in my neck spine and back of head. after mant appointments and scans my dentist shaved all my teeth down and had me a mouth gaurd made. this has reduced my symptoms although i have been left with permanent damage. when i am under stress or my sinuses flare up the pain and pressure can return. im sure i am left with jaw damage x

Hi! I have been reading all the different replies and its crazy how similar my symptoms are. I am a 21 year old girl and I have always been healthy. Just under two months ago however i noticed my jaw, face and body went numb and it was assumed I was having an allergic reaction. However this numbness continued for days. Ever since then I have not been 100% with the numbness slowly disappearing and changing into a strong pressure in the head. Some days the pressure is barely noticeable and other days it is so strong I can barely do anything and I cant sleep. The pressure is all around my face and at worst in the top of the head. The best way to describe it is it feels like somebody is pushing on the top of my head/brain causing my cheekbones and head to be irritated. Then sometimes my legs and arms become numb and heavy. Doctors will not help me and are saying they do not know what it is but think it could be anxiety which i truly do not believe is the case. Please if you have had a similar situation reply and if you have recovered help me figure out how i can recover because I am sick of it!

      Hi Samantha,

This is a typical answer from some drs.

The symptoms you describe can be aggravated by anxiety, but if you have numbness you need more investigation.

I sometimes get it very bad and I am paralysed down one side! I had an MRI scan but I do have a brain lol. You could request a scan to make sure all is well. You know they give Botox on NHS for migraine now.

Let me know how you get on.

      Take care

    Hi,

    Glad to see this forum

I am having Throbbing pressure/Tightening of muscles/Tight band/Pulse beating /Pressing/Compression on Bridge of my Nose on right side and Fore Head above right eye through out the day from past one year. If glasses on nose, it increases. Closing eyes also increases.

MRI/Blood/Eye/Ear test normal. I use CPAP from several years, and healthy active lifestyle. Docs put me on Nortriptyline but no relief and nothing working so far.

Any one having similar issues and got treated, would you please share, it will help.

    Thanks

It has been 4 years since I have this head pressure, my life has been changed dramatically and I did amazing things but this thing remains. Will it ever go away?

I'm not sure if you have found an answer, I have had daily constant 24/7 head pressure for about a year plus with brain fog and fatigue. For about two times a week for 18 weeks I have been going to the chiropractor but what you may want to consider is also while doing the chiropractor you should go to a massage therapist to work on your neck and at the chiropractor they had a cervical traction machine which stretched my neck. I have experienced improvement, I haven't been going to the massage therapist but if I did that on top of everything else I could possibly experience some great improvements.

Also if this is from weak mitochondrial health which people with chronic fatigue syndrome experience I believe you could try consistently going in a sauna which improves mitochondrial health and improves chronic fatigue syndrome which could possibly help with the head pressure. Also I would cut out sugar, dairy and gluten and eat possibly paleo, to try to help your body recover from whatever is going on.

Just some thoughts but they could really help. Praying for you!
