Pressure in head within nose cavity

I have had this pressure that eminates from the sinus or cavities behind the nose for about 4 months now. It started gradually and now is a constant pressure that causes lightheadindness / dizziness and headaches. it gets worse when I move or do anything physical, especially when I move my head down. I know it is trapped air that is causing the problem, it's as if i have sinusitus and i'm on a plan. Popping my ears helps reduce the pressure for a few minutes but it tends to build back up again. 4 weeks ago whilst feeling particularly pressurised I popped my ears whilst yawning and pulling my left ear, what happened next doctors have a hard time believing. Loads of air came out of my left ear, as if like sticking a nail in a bike tire. This lasted for between 20-30 seconds. afterwards, I felt great, no head pressure, no headaches, no dizziness. I think this could well be a breakthrough for a lot of head pressure cases I read on the net. For that day I had my life back, sadly the next day it just seemed to build up again. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be much research out there on this and it is very hard to live with it. I would say its like a constant uncomfortableness and pain about 3/4 out of 10. When moving this increases and I have had some really bad 10 out of 10 headaches. i'm interested in other people who have experienced similar sympotoms and what the outcome was. This does seem curable, but ENTs don't seem to know anything about it. I'm positive this can get resolved in the future but its up to people who are suffering with this to get this condition out there and into public knowledge.

hi everyone, can i start by saying thank you to everyone that has continued this thread. you have given me hope just by knowing theres more of us out there with this issue. ive been struggling for half a year now with all your same symptoms. i had cognitive lapses, memory loss, even fainting. i was in and out of the hospital so many times. i have the ear pressure, eye pressure, expanding feeling in my sinuses all of it. i eventually got diagnosed with iritis it was so bad, i was put on steroid eye drops. i also was diagnosed with an ear infection in both ears and had drops for that as well. such severe vertigo too, the world spun with me if i tried to stand. luckily the worst is behind me but i still feel some symptoms. today i had a doctor tell me i was just depressed and its all just in my head. im so happy to have found you all. i had 2 mri's that showed mucosal thickening, also narrowed brain ventricles. ill be headed to the ent asap thanks to your suggestions. i hope we can work together and find a solution this this. your not alone 💕

Omg you sound just like me. I had the scans which showed mucosal thickening too, and my eyes are permanently bloodshot. It's been over 2 years now for me I'm so desperate!

I am glad to have found this forum. I had sinus surgery end of January and think it has something to do with that but unsure. For me it started end July. Went to ENT who says its allergies however I do not test positive for any. I was given zpac and nose sprays. Went again about a month ago, given another zpac. Went again this week, had cleaning of ears and doc ordered mri. Here's hoping nothing serious. Any better? Diagnosis?

This is me too. 12 months in. Exactly as you describe. Had scan and mri neck. Mri head. Mri centre face. Seen ent/maxiofacial and endoctrinologist. Nothing seen on any of the scans. So here I am getting nowhere. If all of us have the same symptons why isn't anyone diagnosing the problem. Can it be fixed. Yes/no. Please someone come forward with what's going on.

Hi everyone!
I have just come across this forum whilst desperately searching for what could possibly be wrong with me, and I wondered if anybody had any developments or updates?
A bit of back story - about 2 months ago I started with headaches, they were only minor but enough to distract me, after 2 weeks of headache every day I spoke to my GP who said it was migraines, shortly after the headaches turned into feelings of pressure around my entire head, went back to the GP again and they said anxiety, since then I have had all manner of symptoms - intense pressure in head, tingling in face (been to A&E twice thinking I'd had a stroke) severe pressure in bridge of nose, ear aches, feelings of fullness in ears, eye pain and blurry vision, poor concentration, dizziness and neck pain - I had a course of antibiotics as the DR said it was a sinus infection, they seemed to clear it, and I had a week of feeling well, now its back again so I'm back on antibiotics again, and my symptoms seem to be going. When I'm feeling bad, the only relief I get is from heat near my face, so either steam, sitting in a bath for ages, or if i sit near the fire! I am on the waiting list for a MRI scan but with the pandemic, the waiting lists are huge!
Any updates anyone can offer are greatly appreciated.
EDIT - also I don't really have any congestion, just post nasal drip!

Hello, this is an interesting thread as I've experienced the same throughout my entire life (56). I've had a history of sinus problems and have had two operations Rhinoplasty and then Rhinoseptoplasty. I thought the 2nd op was relatively successful but still experience (what feels like) a build up of pressure on the right hand side of my nose at the point almost between my eyes. Feels like a bag has inflated and is blocking a passage way so was interested to read the original post about air coming out of someone's ear!! as I feel this is what would happen if I were to pop my 'inflated bag'. The reason I'm writing this is that I have found a (weird) way of reducing the feeling of pressure which I can only do when I'm at home. This is because my method is to wear an eye patch (pirate style) on the non pressured eye i.e. my pressure is on my right side so I wear the patch on my left. What this does is to force the 'pressured' eye to focus on everything it sees as what I've also found was that the pressure is on the side of my non-dominant eye so by covering my dominant eye it forces the 'weaker' one to work more. This seems to alleviate the pressure. If someone knows why this is can they let me know as I would like to understand more about this. Hope this post wasn't too strange, have never told anyone about my secret life as a pirate before.

I honestly can't believe I've found others in my situation. Thank you guys for all your shared stories.
my situation started back in 2017 summer. I randomly had this onslaught of pressure on the bridge of my nose. the situation then worsened as I started to experience like a trapped air/mucous feeling within my sinus area. to this day the situation is the same and the dizziness and pressure is also unbearable. Ive also had a CT scan, and an eye test. the results came back normal with no issues. This really is damaging towards our lifestyle. I haven't been able to enjoy mine since then as I constantly think about the pain/dizziness. I really hope we all have a light at the end of the tunnel.

I am experiencing the exact same thing. Has anyone found a solution? I have been to two ENTs and an otologist. Had CAT scan, MRI, nasal endoscopy. Nothing shows up. I was wondering if going into a hyperbaric chamber could help. If it’s air maybe pressurize and get it out? Has anyone heard of doing anything like this?

Hi, your post of your condition is very interesting. My son who is 16 is experencing exacatley the same symptoms you are describing. He started with a sinus infection in 2019 and after given a course of antibiotics was left with a sense of pressure around his nose around the eye sockets and forehead. He has tried numerous antibiotics nasal sprays and drops and nasal douching with no luck. He has also tried ampitrytine, and candastartan but still has no effect. He has been under ENT but now referred to neurology to see if they can help, also CT scan came back normal. I wish someone out there had the answer as ive seen my son suffer and feel for anyone who has to go through this.

I have been suffering with all of these same symptoms for three months. head pressure, ear pressure, nasal congestion, blurred vision. I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon next week. It is suspected that I have a cerebral spinal fluid (csf) leak. Could be cranial or spinal. For all of with similar symptoms you should research CSF leaks. It seems to fit. I'm hoping we can all get some answers.

hi there. thank God I'm no alone here with this problem. my problem started in 2019 after scuba diving. ear pressure and head pressure, my barber started moving my head and I felt some air coming out of my ears, start feeling better, but I went to a general doctor and he gave prednisone for 3 days, all pressure went away. a year later 2020 after scuba diving pressure came back right side of my head. I went to ent, mri, x ray. ent said chronic sinusitis so I went to surgery 3 weeks ago, and the pressure came back, dizziness when a walk o move my head down. all the tests look fine. but doctors don't know what the problem. please help

Wow, FInally a sight that describes exactly what I'm experiencing. Mine started in early 2019, woke up one morning and everything was sideways with unbalance, 1 week bad and gradually got somewhat better over months. Up until this day I was considered in great health. Now like everyone else it has been a living hell. Headaches, constant popping in ears or sinuses, cranial pressure, brain fog, slight unbalance, tinnitus (always). Upright position better, sleeping bad with lying down. Same medical pattern. GP , ENT. MRI, CT all coming back normal except for slight but normal for my age C-Spine degeneration, not serious. From what I've read sinuplasty and mouth guard are the only two answers so far. Give it a try. I liked the comment about exercise and tilting forward, that's what makes mine worse too, plus being out in the sun (heat). If anyone one else has found a solution Please contribute. What keeps it at bay for me is combination of saline nasal rinse, steroidal nasal spray, allergy pills...relief but no cure. It always comes back. (I took little to no meds before this started). Seeing "another" ENT next and if anything comes from this I'll post again. Hopefully we can all find a solution.
