Rapid thumping sound in right ear

Hi for the last couple of months I have experienced a rapid thumping sound in might right ear, like a  very fast heart beat.

it only seems to happen at night and is driving me mad.

some nights it wakes me up At 3 or 4 in the morning.

i have been to my GP and he is arranging for me to visit ENT specialist at my local hospital and a head scan.

does anyone know what this could be?

I had the terrible thumping in my ear for a couple days, and kept me awake all night, along with tenitis in other ear. I found this site and was reading about Magnesium helping. so ran into town at 8:30 P.M.  and grabbed some ,it was only 100 Mg, so took a couple ,didn't seem to work but went to nieces later the next day and she had 250mg Mag,  tablets I took 2 and by late afternoon my thumping was completely gone and I slept like a log last night. I just had to share

it's ok, don't be afraid... this is common... i had  this happen to me, it's water BEHIND the ear drum; by that lil bone... it won't show ANY infection bc it's BEHIND the ear drom...it makes sound 100 times clear WITHIN the body... they treated me with nasal decongestant & suddgest 30 mg pills... sometimes when we get water in our ear or we have a cold, this happens... it went away within two days!!! hope this helps...much love!!!

Hi have this too ... it gets worse after loud talking or music ! I was advised by a friend who has the same problem that it is crystals in the ear and certain exercises help to loosen them and stop the drumming ! By laying flat on your back turn your head to the left and your lower body / feet to the right and hold that position for ten mins and repeat on the right, turn your head to the right and lower body and feet to the left...

    Hope this helps

It can also be fluid in the ear from showering !

I had same problem MRI revealed I had a tumour . The consultant said it's blood flowing to the tumour hence the sound. After the tumour was removed the thumbing sound stopped but my hearing is low now. hope this helps

This has nothing to do with water behind the eardrum. Your lucky your better in 2 days. I have seen an ent and there is nothing in my ear. 4 years later I still have the thumping in my ear and head.

Look, I believe a docter is no help. Search up "the tube that connects nose ear and mouth and how it can start earache.
