Hi Samantha, I was wondering what your doc has said about your arm pain and it's connection to acid reflux? I have heard about chest pain caused by acid reflux and that makes sense to me, but I have never had that either. One other question for you and others who read this. Some people on this forum talk about back pain or face pain caused by acid reflux. I have trouble understanding this also.

My wife laughs when I say that I have indigestion in the left leg when it goes numb.

Another thing to consider it to be is Indigenous Indigestion.

Try googling reflux and vagus nerve irritation. This nerve can get damaged by reflux and can give you all sorts of weird symtoms that don't seem relevant.

The eminent Professor Kaufman in NY often prescribles Elavil to calm the nerves down which can be successful in treating reflux also

      Hi Sirivinay

I do feel a little improvement. I am sleeping much better (no waking up in an anxious sweat). They do take several weeks to really get going and I think you need to gradually increase the dose over time for maximum benefit. I'm ony starting off on 10mgs. They are good though - no side effects.

I've go to the stage that I will try anything smile.

      How are you getting on?

What is indigenous indigestion ? I've never heard of it before

I know what u mean about how weird some of these symptoms are that come with reflux mind boggling lol

Hi Samantha; I too have been wondering re that too....I have even tried doing a quick search on Google and only come up with the two separate definitions...one for "Indiginous" and one for "Indigestion".  Perhaps we  need to await for the person who mentioned it to give us a definition?? ...Bron

Sorry finger trouble! I meant Functional Indigestion.

One tends not to give all the weird symptoms as doctors then say that they have never heard of it before.

I went to collect a prescription at the pharmacy today and a very agitated woman was looking for medication for something very similar. She went on and on with the pharmacist trying to edge away. She went away empty handed having been advised to go to Boots as they did not have the non prescription version of what she needed and was the cause of some amusement after her departure.

Good for you! Sleep is so important and if that is messed up everyday it's awful!

I am still dealing with mild reflux (post nasal drip) and gastritis. It's not debilitating or stopping me from doing things but just annoying I guess.

My reflux never bothers me while sleeping at night. I could even sleep flat and be fine in the morning. It's only a while  after I wake up that symtoms start. Even if I sometimes take a nap in the afternoon, I always feel normal during the time I sleep. It's weird lol. I really want to try the elavil but just worried if it will worsen the gastritis. So waiting to see a doc in the first week of May, will ask him about it. For now I am taking 15mg of lanzoprazole.

there is a link between anxiety and reflux. A bit chicken and egg. There is a lot of info about Elavil and reflux on google. I would arm yourself with plenty of info before you see your Dr. It has helped me and many others.

Let me know how you get on

How funny I think that we all try to gather advice from others and sometimes require that one miracle that has worked for someone how wonderful that would be I remember thinking how nice it would be to be rich and famous now all my wishes are reserved for a miracle cure for reflux lol ahh life it's got a sense of humour smile

True! That's what I think too. I don't know if stress caused my reflux but I know for sure that reflux caused me lot of stress! I tried every possible natural medication but none worked like PPI. Also probably coz i was too anxious and wanted instant results. I would say that since last 3 months I have calmed down a lot and accepted things I guess. Maybe that's what helped me feel better.

Yeah, I hope the doc prescribes it and hope it helps me as well! I'll keep you posted smile thanks moonbuggy!

Lol..so true samantha..!I guess when we have conditions like this, other things seem small and unimportant..and the search for that miracle cure never ends!I would give anything to go back to my normal life 6 months back when I didn't know what reflux was! Wishful thinking huh...
