HI, I've had treadworms for almost 5 years now! Ive been eating loads of Opex and Mebendazole. I tried the pumpkin seeds and eaten garlic every day for months...I've also gone up to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases In London to see a specialist for the last 8 months....All their treatment has not worked either. It always comes back! My husband or my two children have never had it and we dont have any pets....I keep a very clean house and im so careful with my hygiene...What can i do to get rid of these? Help Please.....Its driving me insane!

Hello! I only just found this forum, haven't managed to read all the posts yet but so very relieved to not be battling it alone!
your story sounds so similar to mine.
its a blooming long one!
i have 3 kids and have been battling with this for YEARS. I've been robbed off and dismissed by docs and family. Pretty much been advised to seek more help for my mental health. my kids do get symptoms though so I'm hardly imagining it!!
So many rounds of ovex and it makes no difference. It's caused me so much stress and anxiety. I'm ashamed to say that for the last few months I've given up trying to do anything as I just felt defeated so the infestation has probably multiplied. I now have itching in my right ear canal too ((
I'm ready to do battle again. Finally my GP is trying to help although she knows less than me. Just did sellotape slide test on me and all 3 daughters so will see what that shows. In he meanwhile starting tomorrow here is my plan:
ovex every day for 3 days then repeated at 1 week intervals for the next 2 weeks.
pumpkin seeds and grated carrot every morning
bums wiped and Vaseline before bed
pants and pjs every night
shiwer to wash bums every morning, plus hands and nails scrubbed
pjs and pants washed every morning
wipe as much as possible with anti-bac wipes every day
make the kids wash their damned hands and use hand gel as much as I humanly can!
keep it all up for 4 weeks
god I'm exhausted just looking at it.

Eat more fibre, the stuff one person mentioned was discontinued and was good for removing threadworms it paralized them and then caused severe runs, no idea why they stopped making it.
So only thing to do is increase fibre eat plenty of nuts, raw carrots drink water, more salads and cut out the red meat..the aim to make the bowel as inhabitable as possible and to pOo more, better out than in..worms crave sugar and starchy foods red meat ect, if you aren't eating them think what else they are making your body subconsciously crave more of and so you avoid it.. Once you get them rarely do they leave the body so only way is cutting the numbers down so it's out of sight out of mind..I've heard stupid people putting Vaseline up in their bums to combat it well don't do that but rather round the anus instead so all your doing is causing them and their eggs to stick to the Vaseline and it can be wiped easily in the morning. Keep nails short and wash hands thoroughly..wash bedding everyday on a hot temp that includes towels..The aim is to get them to a manageable amount then get the ovex to get the rest, you'll know when is manageable when you aren't itching anymore...

Hi h
I've been reading these comments which span years and I think yours is the first to mention piperazine. I had this problem about 3 or 4 years ago where the ovex just wasn't killing them so the GP prescribed piperazine with senna and BINGO they were gone completely. About 9 months ago I got badly infected and took the ovex immediately as that's all you can get over the counter. But guess what , that didn't work, so I thought hey ho go to the doc and get some piperazine, 'no we can't prescribe that anymore' 'AHHHHHH' they couldn't tell me why. I've asked friends in Europe to see if they can get it but no. I'm only assuming no one is making it. I am just going to see if I can get it online. It's infuriating knowing there is something to get rid of them.
I've given up on my GP, I've had 3 lots of ovex from him which I'm supposed to poison my family with (2 grown children and my partner who would know if they had worms as they have had them before) and I'm fed up with him basically suggesting that I am a dirty slob who doesn't clean properly, and scratches my arse then sticks my fingers in my mouth. I am a grown woman with 3 healthy adult children who wre brought up to wash hands and have never suffered from loads of upset stomachs or even colds, my household hygiene isn't perfect but as adequate as anyone elses, the fact that I have had worms for 9 months but no one in my house has contracted them is a testament to that. But no the GP insists there is nothing more than bad hygiene. Retroinfection? nah. Drug resistance? nah. Mutations? nah. It's really quite unnerving when you know more about stuff than your doctor and they can't admit it. Yes I know time to change doctors. The last prescription he gave me which was meant to be for all 4 of us I have taken all my self, one every 10 days to 2 weeks when I remember, this has kinda worked in that I have only had very minor activity every now and again but I ran out about 2 weeks ago and now it's starting again. So I'm determined to get rid once and for all.
It's so good to hear everyone elses similar stories and know that I'm not going completely nuts. Btw I tried all those carrots and garlic stuff but didn't really make much odds.
I will let everyone know how the piperazine search goes.

Yes actually I stopped dairy about 3 weeks ago and there has been a noteable improvement in my symptoms since then. I'm currently on a programme of albendazole for 13 weeks but for the first few weeks it didn't seem to improve anything at all, until I gave up the dairy. Could be a coincidence, I guess only time will tell.

Hi Anna,
So many people say no one else in my family / household have it etc, but you know it can be asymptomatic? ie. shows NO symptoms whatsoever. It's possible for everyone on the planet to have it, just not everyone would be aware (I am not suggesting that is the case, just saying it is actually possible). It's always best to treat everyone at the same time.

Just had to treat my whole family because I noticed some small scratch marks on my son's bottom. Went up two hours after bed with a torch and discovered worms! I wonder how long he has had them and whether I would have found out if I hadn't seen the scratches. So all of my bonkers hygiene has been in vain whilst my little guy wanders round the house scratching and touching everything! Cue whole house being disinfected, washed etc. and medicine given. At least this explains my recent bad reinfection.

Morning! Oh no.....As i said before, my two have never had it in the 8 years...but i have still treated them. But you know how it is.....im a bit loath to keep treating them as they have never shown any symptoms or had the threadworms.. after such a long time cleaning and treating myself i do think im just more 'attractive' to these buggers!! And something in me cant shift them completely or im getting them back.......😞
