REZUM--HAVE YOU HAD THIS DONE???????

I had a nice conversation today with the President of the "Urology Times". He was telling me that there is a "New Procedure" that has been approved called the "REZUM SYSTEM".  The company that makes the system is called "NXThera, Inc".  You can google them up and lots of stuff comes up.  I called them for a referral and they gave me a Doctor in Minnepolis that has done it over 50 times now.  I called his nurse and she said he would call me back and answer my questions on monday.  As you guys probably know Doctors are not very good at returning calls but we'll see what happens.  Iam not very good at explaining how the procedure works but basically they take the device and put it up the uretha and vaporize the prostate cells which kills them.  It works with high pressure "steam" that at a certain degree will kill the prostate tissue.  My question for you guys is there anybody out there that has had it done to them and how are you getting along and are there "side effects", etc etc?????

    Hey Gang,

So a week from today (Tuesday, October 16), I see a second urologist to discuss a possible Rezum procedure as the Kaiser urologist only does standard TURP. I had to book this appointment about 2 months in advance. So I am coming up with a list of questions to ask them. The obvious ones are:

    1. How many Rezums have you done?
    2. How long have you been doing Rezum for?

The family-member-MD says 50 Rezums should be the lower limit. From this forum, some of the other questions include:

    1. Do you recommend a twilight anesthesia, or similar, or not?
    2. How many Rezum shots do you do?

I know that from this forum, there has been some discuss on the 2 questions above. The family-member-MD says to limit the number of questions. They will be doing a TRUS and a cystoscopy before any Rezum procedure so I won't ask about that.

If you think that I missed some obvious important questions, then please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Steve

GREAT QUESTIONS!! I HAD IT DONE ON 10/4/2018. AT THIS POINT HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CONCSIOUS SEDATION (twilight). I HAD THE PROSTATE BLOCK, IT DID NOT WORK!! I EXPERIENCED THE MOST PAINFUL 7 MINUTES OF MY LIFE. SOME OTHER QUESTIONS TO ASK ARE:

      1. Will you go home with a catheter? If so, how long?
      2. What medications will be prescibed post-op? Antibiotics, pain meds, stool softner, pyridium, flomax?
      3. How long you'll be out of work? I had a catheter for 5 days. Going to work with a catheter was not an option for me.

      STEVEN-

Those are all good questions. i had rezum done 5/16/18. I GOT EXCELLENT RESULTS. Very painful procedure. I had to have 9 shots done. The prostate block rarely works that well. To many nerves for the anastetic to get to.

      Hope you do well.

      John:

According to the National Institute of Health, yes there is a problem of nasal decongestants and LUT symptoms. See:

Pseudophed can cause problems, but sprays like Afrin (which don't use it) don't. Not everyone has a problem with Pseudophed. If you do, it's likely that every drug that ends in ine
