ripped the patch off last night!!

Hi all

If you remember, I'm the one with the list of over 60 symptoms! I have been dead against HRT, and things seemed to be improving. However I started to feel like the depression & bad anxiety was coming back, & slapped on a patch in desperation!

A few days later...uh-oh!! Had been getting migraines and bad nausea, wierd thoughts, anxiety. Then had a horrifically insane epiode last night....the shaking, reflux, panic attack, crazy head back with avengeance! My left arm became incredibly weak & I couldn't get up the stairs for a while, legs were wierd. Diahorrea too. Crying like an idiot. Had to get up eventually as I desperately had to go to the loo!

Anyway ripped the flipping thing off, got to it before my husband did lol!

So HRT..genuinely brilliant for some (including my friends)....unfortunately not for me rolleyes

    Wow, what a wet blanket!

Sorry to hear and I hope you feel better already..  but you made me laugh smile when you said about ripping the thing of before your husband did it, lol.

Do you take Menopace?  I have seen people talking well about it in here smile

I was taking menopace, but there's iodine in it. It was making the heart racing/anxiety worse...something to do with thyroid

OMG!!!  That's terrible and scary!!!!  Geez!  When will they come up with something that helps and doesn't cause worse-but-different symptoms.  As I read these posts, I am more convinced that natural symptom relief has to come from many sources, is a constantly changing balancing act, and is very very different from one woman to the other.  *sigh* sorry you went through that!  Thanks for sharing because my Estrodial is "bad" and I go see the MD tomorrow... I'm sure she's going to want to put me on the patch.  As Monty Python said, "Run AWAY!!!!"

The ting is....it works wonders for some! Like my friend, she's a new woman, back to full time work, enjoying life! If only.....

    Hi brimbo,

I lasted 8 days on the Combipatch early last year. It was the lowest dosage. It gave me reflux in the form of severe chest pain, extreme fatigue and just the general crazys! Final straw was I developed a 3 cm cyst on my breast. The end. Ripped that thing off and haven't looked back.

HRTs can work for some and like Shar mentioned, it either doesn't work well if at all or I get what I consider insane reactions so intense I swear there is something sinister wrong with me.sad

I'm trying to do many of the less likely to wound me things like supplements, exercise (when I can muster up the energy/interest to do so), relaxation tapes and visting this site frequently to get new ideas.

I did see a Naturopath doctor this past week to take over and see if she can tweak a better plan of care regarding a new issue-hypothyroidism. This can crop up during Peri and adds to the "fun".

I feel your pain.......this is so frustrating yet thankfully temporary. Hopefully your journey through this time won't be so long.biggrin

    Annie xx

    Hi Brimbo

Hope you are feeling better now. I am at the beginning of choosing what to take so this will help me realise that it isn't for everyone so I need to do more reading before choosing.

    Have a good day x

i meant to say also that after i come off my beloved hrt , i took one by mistake looking for a pain killer in the dark.

boy did i get a stomach cramp.

perhaps your patch was too much too soon.

yes my GP prescribed it, as I was so ill with extreme symptoms I believe it's a low dose anyway. I held off for 6 months, then gave in. It's just not right for me. x
