Hi I've been taking sertraline 50mg for 6wks and the first 2wks were horendous side affects. I was prescribed sertraline to help me deal with panic attacks and anxiety after I had a TIA mini stroke. I've now upped my dose to 100mg and feeling much better ,my only advice is try and stick with it early on as it will get better.

Most places I am reading has 25 MG the starting dose moving up to 50 MG.
Any suggestions other than contacting the Doctor in the morning? She has had anxiety for a while but has never taken medication for it.
Baring what the Doctor says, should she keep taking it and hope the beginning side effects wear off fast or take a half a poll or stop it?

I have been on 100mg for about 4 weeks now after being on 50mg and it not making any difference. 100mgs are still not making any difference. Do you know if you can go higher than 100mgs as 100mg seem high already?

Hey. I'm katelyn. I'm 17 and have been on 50 mg for 3 weeks. Since then I've lost 6 pounds. My doctor is going to move it to 100mg. I've been prescribed this medication for depression. But on some websites it says your not supposed to give it to treat depression in younger people. My first week was the worst.

Oh my god, you will in about 10 days or so, it's not a magic pill, it does take time Hun.
I went through the same as you , I started on 50mg and stayed on that. The first couple weeks you feel worse before better, but I'm so glad I persevered as it saves my life.
Plz don't stop taking it, you have to get through the bad side affects it will be worth it in the end I promise you.
You won't be able to sleep, eat, and will feel anxious and feel really down, but then you will start to pick up.
Have faith in god , pray to god.

I am a mom of a 13 year old that was prescribed 25mg and she has been on it since christmas eve. The last few days she has been in a deep depression, feeling of deep sadness. Not wanting to go to school and mentions she is "numb". Says she can't feel her feelings. I am afraid that this medication is not working. Is this a BAD side affect or does she just need to be on it "a bit longer". Luckily we have an apt. with her psychotherapist tomorrow for her "talk" abvout her feelings and an apt. with the psychiatrist the next day to talk about the Rx. Just want to know if anyone else has experienced this. I am very worried about my daughter and if I could take away her feelings of depression, sadness and anxiety and make them my own I would. She thinks since she is on the medication that she should "feel better" and not feel the way she does. Can someone offer me some guidance or positive words.
Thank you,
A concerened mom <3

SOMTIMES on sertraline you get blips at the beginning, it can last a week and then you come out of it again, another 2 weeks or maybe less , she should pick up again. But any recent stress can trigger a blip in the first 6 months, I had a few too. I've been on sertraline 1 year and 3 months. I had a blip xmas day, I got the numb feeling and was teary. It only lasted few hours, but before that was back in April it lasted a week. Just tell her it will all be ok , I'm sure you are comforting her and doing all the rite things. It must be so painful for you to see your daughter suffer with this dreadful illness. My daughter is 13 too.
