Hi everyone im a 31 year old male , so far been on sertraline for nearly 3 weeks , i was on mirtazapine for a while but all they did was make me eat and give me nightmares and before that i was on prozac which helped but messed my sex-life up , my question to anyone who reads this is has any other people that takes sertraline had a loss in libido such as no desire for sex , cant get a proper erection and/or cant orgasm/ejaculate or anything similar , if so i would like to hear from you , i would especially like to hear from anyone that has any information to correct this side effect , any information is desperately needed weather its herbal medication or conventional medication that will help me and others who read this get there sex-lifes back on track i would like to no if anyone has found anything that helps them to be able to get an erection and to be able to have sex and climax at the end , as i no these tablets are to blame because i was alright on mirtazapine as far as sex goes its just they never worked with my depression , i dont even want or think about sex on these tablets let alone be able to manage it in the first place and then being able to climax , please dont get me wrong i dont claim to ever being a stud or anything im just desperately in need of some helpful advise as my GP dont seem to have any answers for me and im scared my girlfriend of 3 years will leave me because of my insecurities and i feel inadequate , like i said any help and information is very welcomed even if its just tips or a medication you may no of that helps or even herbal products that help , and im sure im speaking on behalf of a lot of people here so advice would surely help a lot of people out , thanks everyone for reading , hope you all feel better soon xx

OMG, Im soooo glad i read this as i feel comletely the same!! iv been on antis for 8 years, im now 23!! been on sertraline for a few years and they do do a good job, but my husband to be in 4 weeks has such a high sex drive it makes me want to cry!! i even dread going bed... It makes things real tough between us... There must be something out there that can help us women out!! iv tried alsorts tho, horny goat weed, orgasm pills from ann summers and a few others but nothing works, the only thing that can help is usin sum lube and playin with myself a little first!!! They have uped my dose from 50mg to 100 today, so i guess its gunna get worse... some weeks can be good tho. the less pressure the more i want it!! But we have to understnd that it is very hard for our partners to understand, they must feel very rejected. They also stil have needs!! A bit of give and take on both parts is good!! If any one findds anythin, pls write back!!
good luck all
xx

I am writing into response of your post, and hopefully it will give you some hope.
I have been taking Sertraline 100mg daily for 5 months now. At first i was worried sick, as i had difficulty getting an erection and only after about 4 hours of constently masterbating, i could ejaculate.
I found after a couple of months, whilst still taking the Sertraline, my erection and ejaculation problem has gone, and it's settled baclk to normal. So i guess i can honestly say that these side affects were only short term, whilst my bodey got use to the drug in my system.
I really hope that this helps.
Kind regards m8
Best wishes

I was on propranolol n they were working but got took of cause of my asthma, next citalopram for 6 wks could get an erection but couldn't ejaculate unless masterbating after sex pure furiously , I told the doctor and he was like I didn't think you'd get any problems on such a small dose 10mg. I've now been given setraline is it even worth my while taking these? These past few wks I've been normal again sexually, god these tablets are so frustrating, the propranolol were working as well with no downside.

My wife and I split (amicably) just over 4 years ago, she has a new partner and so do I now, we get on well and our 3 kids are not affected.
If I'm honest we were treading water for about 10 years and our relationship was that like a brother and sister, which as you can imagine was a bit weird to say the least.
Towards the end of our relationship I started to experience 'problems', unsurprisingly I suppose. I had a few 'kinks' which helped but knew I had a problem.
As a result of the split which was still traumatic I experienced some really low points and my self esteem took a gigantic hit, the whole cycle then just spiralled down.
4 years later I have been prescribed sertraline (50mg initially) and weather it was placebo or not seemed to lift my moods, but not help my sleep.
Sexually I didn't really notice anything at first, but then as others have said, found it hard to orgasm. What I haven't said is that I take Sildenafil which is the ingredient in Viagra. I didn't have much problem getting an erection, but again like many here have already posted, have no or hardly any sex drive and on most occasions 'pretend' to be horny. Don't get me wrong once we're doing it I really enjoy it and love my GF. But it is in my mind fake, and again this I find hurtful and adds to the problem. [neutral]
My choice, I've come off Sertraline and am trying to sort out my mental health problems on my own. Since then I have been able to orgasm a lot quicker, much to the joy of my GF.
I wish all of you here and future people reading this thread the very best of luck as its a horrible situation to be in, let alone talk about it.
Peace

I'm a 35 yr old female and have same problems but of the female kind!
I do get aroused but it feels like part of my brain won't tap into the imagination part that used to get me going. I spoke to my Dr and they told me that i can have everything I.e feel better and more stable and have orgasms with my partner like I used to.
Fortunately my partner understands but I know it makes him feel inadequate because he told me. I dont know of any cures. I've considered trying herbal pills and contemplated watching soft porn but haven't. I hope you find something that works for you!
