I'd be wary of taking ginseng with a ssri, don't know about gingko
Have read elsewhere that sertraline and viagra work well together. Sertraline makes you last longer

I'm a 41yr old male and have been taking 100mg of Sertraline a day for around a year now. I've always had a high sex drive, however, to begin with I found it impossible to ejaculate. I've always found it easier to ejaculate through masterbation so thought in the first instance I should persist with this method. While taking Sertraline I've never had a problem with getting an erection and while it took some time, eventually BOOM! had the strongest furthest ejaculate ever! That calmed down a little but I can still easily come by masrurbating (albeit to a little porn). Gone are the days that I'm able to come in the shower lol with intercourse/oral it's much more difficult but not impossible. I was never impressed with how quick I used to come (5-10 minutes) but I'm now happy that I take much much longer (perhaps to my partners dismay) but do occasionally manage a 'quickie'. All I would say is persist and persist again. As soon as it becomes a problem in your head it appears to excaserbate the situation. Be horny, have stamina and try and forget the link to Sertraline. That said I still don't always manage to ejaculate but certainly enjoy trying. It's defineyel worth not having such depressive low self estime anymore. Good luck!

Hi, I've recently started on sertraline and I'm getting a couple of side effects tremors/shakes but more importantly I can't orgasm which is causing my GF to think it's me being uninterested in her. Not back at doctors for 3wk should I change ASAP or will this subside.

hi, if u have not been on sertraline more than a month or two and are not on a very high dose, this side effect will pass yes (it's a very common side effect for many people, but for most people it will ease)
(i did have this side effect myself at first, but after 2+ months on 100mg this side effect has completely gone)

ps. in my opinion that's a good sign, getting that side effect
(i've taken antidepressants loads in the past, all sorts of different ones, and it's the ones which cause that side effect which have turned out to be the best ones for me, and work the best once they get settled into your system. and as i say don't worry as that side effect passes anyway.. you're only getting it because the sertraline is working. so feel good.

I had exactly the same issues you've described. It's been a while since your post so hopefully you have stuck with it and got past the tough part? Everything went back to normal for me

Old thread but I actually found this post after searching for quite the opposite. I seem to have intense orgasms that are almost euphoric when I ejaculate. It's pretty cool but when I first started taking it, I had the same issues. I'm not gloating here but hopefully I can help?
I can certainly feel for everyone with issues after taking sertraline, I'm fortunate to no longer have those and I hope I can help anyone with something that has helped me. For the first week, I couldn't get a good erection and was completely off sex with no drive whatsoever. I also didn't ejaculate when I orgasmed when I tried to see if I was still working!
I'm on 150mg of sertraline and have been on them for about six months. They are a great solution for me. I haven't tried any other anti depressants though. Sertraline really hit me for six for the first few weeks and I felt like I had taken ecstasy, which wasn't nice believe me. All symptoms have settled down now, I hope that gives some hope for people researching and yet to take it.
Onto the issues with erections and ejaculating. I have done a fair bit of research on this, I never had a problem before (before I started on the Sertraline) but wanted to ejaculate more and have stronger erections so I decided to try some supplements to see if they could help. As an added bonus, the supplements help with muscle growth and general wellbeing and focus, in my experience.
Here is what I take daily, quite high doses but no side effects. Anyone wishing to follow this should probably half the dosage for the first couple of weeks to make sure you don't suffer any side effects too. All of these are in tablet form.
* Maca - 500mg. 9 tablets per day, 3 tablets 3x per day. Cost about £10 for 250 tablets. Maca will help boost your energy levels and sexual well being (for men & women). Maca has made me feel better all round. More energy, more focus and importantly, strong erections, really strong erections! I'm also very easily aroused and very horny since taking these.
* L-arginine - 1000mg. 9 tablets per day, 3 tablets 3x per day. Cost about £8 for 120 tablets. This is an essential amino acid which your body needs but can't make alone. Foods such as chicken contain high amounts. It helps blood vessels relax and improves circulation. It is also promoted as a remedy for erectile dysfunction. These tablets are quite large & can be hard to swallow
* Zinc - 50mg (the max rda) 1 per day with food. It's essential for sperm production and sexual health and in all the multivitamins for men (just smaller doses) £5 for 90 tablets
* Folic acid 400ug 1 per day. Not just for pregnancy, growing popularity that is essential for men too and I've definitely noticed benefits. £4 for 120 tablets
Anyone willing to give it a try, stick with it for a month and see if anything changes. Other forum users have experienced side effects that I haven't so maybe some of these won't agree with you. The only effect I had was temporary and had loose stools for the first few days of taking.
Really hope this helps someone out there and I'm interested to hear if anyone has had success with it like I have.
Good luck all and best wishes.
