Severe tingling, burning + pain in both legs

Hi everyone,

I've been having severe tingling and pain in both my legs (toes, feet, calves and knees) for about seven months now. On running a few tests, I found six months ago that I was deficient in vitamins B12 and D, which was set right. The neurologist said my symptoms were due to the deficiency, however, the condition has steadily worsened in spite of the deficiency being rectified.

Here are the tests I've done:

Vitamin B12 and D: Levels stable for the last 4 months

Thyroid: Normal

Sodium, calcium, potassium: Normal

Iron: Normal

Bloodwork, ANA, dsDNA all normal.

Rheumatoid factor negative.

The pain is worse at night and while lying down. The docs have told me I've got Restless Leg Syndrome. I took Pregabalin for about a month and Ropinirole for ten days but both didn't help with the tingling - in fact the side effects were terrible.

I'm not on any medication as of now and the pain + tingling has worsened, now almost constant, like there's electricity shooting up my legs all the time. I'm unable to do anything physically exerting like climbing stairs. Walking makes my feet hurt terribly (which I believe is not the case in RLS?).

Does anyone have suggestions to confirm the diagnosis? Is there something I'm missing? I'm due for an LS MRI, but the docs have said it is most likely to come clear.

Thanks a ton!

I can confirm you all have SCIATICA!

go to the nearest most dodgiest looking CHINESE ACCUPUNCTURE Shop in your neighbourhood.

Tell him you want to be hooked up to Electricity current at the L5-S1 REGION.

he will zap the christ out of your sciatic nerve when he HOOKS IN!

you will then start crying on the table as he leaves you alone. The pain and tingling is disappearing. You will not believe it. Your legs start feeling cool again.

30 mins later, he takes the needles out.

he meets you at the front counter.

$55 thanks in an asian accent with a goofy asian smile.

"do you want all the money in my bank!! - you deserve it!' - you say in disbelied after spending thousands on 8 doctro visits, neurologists, Lyrica, nerve conductivity tests, MRI's.. and not even a diagnosis!

This Chinese prick fixes you in 45 mins...

I was near suicide, just days from it. 90 days of immense torture.

the current going through the acupuncture needle would be to flush the meridian electrically, I would say that was a good feeling. delighted it worked for you

II think part of my pain (if not all) is caused from pressure on the sciatic nerve from the piriformis muscle on my left side. Maybe this info will help someone.

Is your pain confined to your legs only or do you have it in other places?

Pain and tingling is all on my left side; lower leg, outside of foot and some hip pain. Doctor says the piriformis muscle is pressing on the sciatic nerve.

I have that also and the area you talk about, outer leg etc is all too true. It also effects my foot and toes! Activity causes mine to flair up and it can take awhile to calm down. Mine never goes away, I have chronic pain. Go online and search the spine and the nerves that are at each disc in skeleton. Such L4,5 etc  You will be able to see where the nerves effect the various parts of your body. This is helpful because you can confirm your symptoms, pain to those nerves and it will clarify it better for you. Best of luck, this can be a lifelong journey and it can and will affect your quality of life. With that said it is important you research and find information re your situation that will help you make everyday decisions for your activity level. Look up spoon theory and it will give you the jest of what you might face. If you continue to suffer pain management clinic might be your best friend. Also I would seek a neurologist now and ask for a nerve conduction test if they think you might have pinched or damaged nerves. If you don’t consider that a Hugh gift. Sending a hug, fight like crazy for your health, you will have to be the leader in this Journey!!

Could be a pinched nerve. Have you been to a chiropractor? I had something similar and it fixed the problems. All those meds have side effects!
