I would definitely not have your gall bladder removed until it is proven to have stones in it which is not difficult a procedure. In any case if the re are small stones in your gall bladder if they are cholesterol type they can be dissolved with Ursodioxycholic acid treatment. You can research that on the net. There are scare stories about Urso but I can confirm that I still have a working gall bladder with no stones inside it and I am going towards three years without a symptom due to the fact that I took Urso for 6 months & then had a break for a year and then took it again for 2 months...... I am 78 and did not want to contemplate having another op the same year as I had a biopsy which cut below the navel. My Surgeon was the best and told me Urso will dissolve gall stones. Later he said he would be pleased to give additional ones if required. He said some found it horrible to take but was please I did not suffer any side effects.

I have learned a great deal re the Urso and the USA use it a lot and I think although the consultant is eminent he learnt something beneficial too.

They won't just take your gallbladder out if no reason too, I don't think it's something you can decide.

I was told I needed mine out. Was not nauseated every day but had frequent attacks.

My doctors and I have said that I have the option to do it whenever I feel like that is an option. Its just ive been through almost every test that people can think of and thats why im as desperate as I am to take out my gallbladder for POSSIBLE relief.

austin are you having tight pain under your ribs like a tightening elastic band and pain in the right side of your back also xx

Nothing major, but I get very small amount of pain in those areas. Mostly recently but in the past I had no pain what so ever

if you are in slight pain now it's not time to have it out. Just bad nausea now is a sign. You need to be deathly sick to have it removed. Doesn't sound like you are in major distress. You should watch your diet now. Eat healthy Veggies and fruits. No meats of any kind. Dairy is a no no also. If you improve your diet will have less pain and nausea. No Carbonated drinks. A lot of water to help get rid of toxins that pancreas and liver will produce. Stay healthy friend.....

Ive been doing the most ridiculously healthy diets for 2 months, and all of these supplements to help the flow of the bile ducts which have helped with the nausea. Nothing has changed with the diet change so that's why im at this point

Unless you have gallstones and your doctor has recommended you have your gallbladder removed I would not go down that road. I think it is unlikely you will be offered that anyway.

I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago because I had gallstones.

It is quite a long waiting list for this operation.

    Hope you feel better soon.

Hi. I'm facing the same battle right now. I've been sick the last year in a half done a TON of Western medicine tests and seen a ton of specialist - even saw a functional doctor with no relief. My HIDA scan is the only test that showed anything 25% low functioning. Have you had a HIDA scan ? I'm sorry youre dealing with this too.

i have been dealing with the same issues for a month and my HIDA Scan showed 26% but my gastro doctor says that is borderline and since i am not having pain in the upper right quadrant underneath the rib that it is probably not the gallbladder. With your HIDA Scan being 25%, what did your gastro doctor suggest you do? also i posted a detailed reply to @june28063 a few posts ago. please read it. i would like your feedback.

Ive done the HIDA scan as well but it said had more than the normal amount of bile but not by much at all. No gallstones or anything else was seen. Im just at the point where I desperate to take a chance on this procedure

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this too. it's very frustrating. My Gastro was all for me getting it out. Even though most of my back and neck pain are the left side. I do get itching on the right lower side where my gallbladder is. I cannot digest fat hardly anymore.. I did test positive for mild methane SIBO but the doctor I saw did not think that was my root cause of all my symptoms. I am starting to figure out I also have a fructose malabsortion issue that could he contributing.. all ive beeen eating is fruit and rice cakes because they are low fat. So, the surgeon I saw said food poisoning damages the gallbladder... I had two bouts of violent food poisoning before all this started.. (I also was on birth control for 10 years and went off)I had got it three times that year. I've met some other people on reddit that have that correlation too. Have you tested for SIBO ? I'm surprised your gastro wants you to keep it. I feel like that is rare ..I mean it's good he isn't quick to take out an organ but frusterating because you want to feel better! is he suggesting further testing ?I hope we get some relief soon. Hang in there.

I 100% know where you're coming from. I've been dealing with this over 1.5 years.. My health declined after several bad bouts of food poisoning and going off birth control after being on it 10 years.. It's miserable not being able to eat comfortably and feeling nauseous every morning. Was your HIDA scan way above average ? I've ran into people on reddit. and YouTube who were above average and that can cause problems too. Have you been tested for SIBO? I know that sometimes it can be a low stomach acid issue but honestly so frusterating. I'm so sorry you are going through this s**t too. I hope you find relief soon.

I also want to add - I went through an MRI as well because I've been feeling so unwell and CRAZY.. My MRI came back fine and I'm sure yours will too. Our guts are our second brains. But damn 😦 Such a tough Journey. Just know you are not alone.

Did you do an ultra sound of the gallbladder? Did the ultra sound show any sludge or gallstones? what did your CT Scan show?

I have not been tested for SIBO. Will have to look into it.

Most of my pain is around the belly button area and my CT Scan and endoscopy and colonoscopy are normal. I think that is why my gastro doctor does not think it is the gallbladder. she thinks it is IBS.

My second opinion gastro doctor does not put much value in the HIDA scan so i am scheduled to do an ultra sound on gallbladder on wednesday.

You said you been sick for a year and a half.is that continous or off and on?

do you get nausea when you try to eat cooked food?

do you full after a few bites?

I went to the ER actually because I felt so sick and they did an ultra sound and CT scan and no stones, no sludge but when I saw a gastro she suggested a HIDA scan and when it came back low she suggested seeing a surgeon. He recommended getting it out - he said it's likely to keep getting worse and that it's probably been infected with food poisoning several times. If you go on reddit they have a gallbladder support group that has been really helpful for me.

I get pain and itching around my belly button too .I do get nauseous after eating but not always full right away . (I do currently also have hyperthyroid probably from all the stress of not knowing what is wrong) I think that is a common gallbladder symptom(Belly button pain and nausea). Ive been sick continuous .. I had to go down to part time at work. For reference I'm 5'5 120ibs - so I don't fit the normal person with gallbladder issues. This has all been so frustrating. I think you should keep seeking a gastro that will listen to you. I'm sorry you're struggling too. It's so frustrating not having direct answers and having to basically be our own doctors..

Greetings, I was just wondering if you feel that the birth control pills or shot had contributed to your gall bladder problems? Thank you.

      Hello,
