SLIDING HIATUS HERNIA SYMPTOMS AND QUESTIONS

Hi I'm new to this site, just recently been diagnosed with a 4cm sliding hiatus hernia after suffering for 2 years with horrendous chest, neck, shoulder and back pain! been to A&E a least 5 times this year thinking I was having heart problems! had an endoscopy 4 weeks ago and was diagnosed! so now what? I was sent home with no advise whatsoever. been on all the PPI's for the last 15 years as I suffer with GERD and IBS! I feel bloated all the time, I burp, fart, feel sick and light headed and now I get a pulsating throb from my tummy through my chest into my throat If I eat the wrong thing it feels like I got a tennis ball stuck behind my sternum, really fed up with this now. I won't go the operation route, it's not got a good success rate! so it's maintenance, put the head of my bed on two blocks 8inches high, given up gluten and dairy and all spicy foods eat 3 hours before I got to bed and have a swig of gaviscon as a night cap! I take a multi vitamin and magnesium supplements. the next step is stop smoking and drinking red wine what else can I do? the omeprazole makes me feel crap, so I've gone back to ranitidine. any advise would seriously be welcomed.........

Hi, I am 28 years old at 12 years of age I had severe stomach problems, severe pain the doctors actually removed my appendix to tell me that it was perfectly healthy, I had a barium swallow and was told I had an ulcer and acid reflux which I have used zantac/pantaloc for off and on when I can't control symptoms with diet. At 18 was diagnosed with anxiety disorder after repeated trips to the ER for chest pain/pressure breathing difficulties, generally thinking I was going to die of a heart attack. In 2010 I started having difficulties swallowing, most often at night, I can usually get it under control but if I choke or am under any type of stress (kids crying, feel under pressure, any sort of stressor) it gets worse and worse, and it's a downward spiral I can't swallow not even my own saliva/ I'm choking/ I can't breath, I force a swallow and gasp for air/now I can't breath, and I am pretty sure I felt my heart flutter/stop, now I have chest pain, can't breath and can't swallow, I'm going to die....vicious vicious cycle. After my second pregnancy my acid reflux was at its worst and I started regurgitating, it was horrible, my doctor sent me for an endoscopy . Which only showed that I had scar tissue in my esophagus (from the gerd), after my third child and the increased acid reflux and general unwellness,I went to my doctor yet again, I was still having major stomach issues, and pain, he putHi, I am 28 years old at 12 years of age I had severe stomach problems, severe pain the doctors actually removed my appendix to tell me that it was perfectly healthy, I had a barium swallow and was told I had an ulcer and acid reflux which I have used zantac/pantaloc for off and on when I can't control symptoms with diet. After my second pregnancy my acid reflux was at its worst and I started regurgitating, it was horrible, my doctor sent me for an endoscopy . Which only showed that I had scar tissue in my esophagus (from the gerd), after my third child and the increased acid reflux and general unwellness, I went back to my doctor because I was still having stomach issues/pain sent for blood work and uultrasound. To which I got a diagnosis of IBS And recommended to eat a gluten and dairy free diet to relieve symptoms. This did help quite a bit less bloating, and belching. And I felt alright for quite awhile. Until recently I separated from the father of my children, which has been shrouded stress and drama, back into the workforce, as lot of stress physically emotionally and financially. Went back in to the Dr.s after a few ER "heart attacks", ultrasounds and egg's that showed I wasn't dying. Time to go back on the anxiety meds. But this time around they are not really doing much, in fact I have been on them 3 months and I am having worse and more frequent "attacks" then ever before, and now with more symptoms in the last month I have had the regular chest pain, and shortness of breath, but now the chest pain is accompanied with a feeling as though something is pushing up against the bottom of my lungs making me struggle to take deep breaths, I have had an capability to yawn, which is both annoying and frightening. I take heaving breaths that indraw all around my collar bone and neck, to which I use my ventolin thinking I'm having an asthma attack. Which makes my heart race and makes me really think I'm going to have a heart attack. My left shoulder in the front gets shooting pains, and my left forearm, (went to a walking about my arm and was told I bruisedvthe bone, it only really bothers me when I'm stressed and ha es been happening almost 2-3 months), as well as a shooting pain in between my shoulder blades, more towards the left side as well. Now how would a person not think they were going to die of a heart attack? The last few weeks on top of all that my swallowing issues have gotten exponentially worse, to the point I can't swallow my saliva I choke and gasp and feel like my heart has stopped, I get so short of breath randomly that I can't complete an entire sentance without stopping for a breath. I try my hardest around friends and the public to not stumble through conversations, usually just by nodding, saying mmhmm or laughing, anything that can get me through without gasping for air and needing my inhaler every hour. I finally got the nerve, I had an appointment for test results with my doctor for something totally unrelated to this, we went over that, and then he was getting up to go and I looked at him and said, I had a barium swallow, an endoscopy, multiple tests and procedures for a number of random symptoms and pain, and never have I gotten a real answer as to what is wrong with me, it just gets brushed off as anxiety but I am still in pain it doesn't just go away because the tests didn't show anything. He looked through his computer at some of the tests and got his nurse to pull some xrays, came back to me and said, have you ever heard of a hiatus hernia.
So we shall see.
