small hard lump on roof of mouth HELP

PLEASE HELP.

Just a quick bit about me, I'm 20, female, smoker of 5 years, trying to quit as pregnant now.

I've had this small lump on the roof of my mouth for at least a few years now from what I can remember. It's never bothered me before but a couple months ago I ate something that knocked it and I noticed it was there again, and in the past few years I have become increasingly anxious. Anyway I was terrified it was oral cancer. It's only a few mm and I'm not sure if it's white or pale or just the colour of that area of my mouth.. It's hard and doesn't move as far as I can tell with my tongue and its about 2 mm off center right on the part where the hard palate changes to the soft palate.

It's quite hard to notice I think, I've had braces since and the orthodontist or dentist has never mentioned it..

I got so so anxious about it I finally made myself go to the doctor and got her to check it out, she said she wouldn't worry about it and that it's probably just a build up of tissue where the two palates meet so I decided to try and forget about it. Then the other day I knocked it again and noticed it, it's still pretty much the same as far as I can tell, maybe a teeeeeeny bit bigger but I'm not sure if that's just where I've been playing with it or what. Anyway now I'm terrified again. I'm not sure if it's because it takes loads for me to be reassured and she didn't seem all that experienced or the fact that I've had quite a bad experience with doctors in general because they give me so many different answers, but I've literally been panicking constantly to the point I can't sleep again even though she said it was fine. I've made an appointment with another doctor for a few days time to get a second opinion.. I'm scared for a few reasons - if he says its fine will I believe him? If he says its fine but then says to get it checked by a specialist to ease my mind I'm worried he'll just be saying that and thinking it is actually something serious and finally I'm worried he'll say to go and see someone because it is serious! ALSO because I've had it for years, what if it is serious and it's two late?! I read that only 50% of people with oral cancer survive past 5 years sad

I'm so so scared, I've got a little boy on the way and I just can't stop stressing over this but I'm worried even if it's fine I'm still not going to be reassured.

Please help sad

    I am having the same problem. I've had a bony lump on the left side of the roof of my mouth. At first I thought it was my wisdom tooth, went to the doctor and she said it didn't seem like anything to worry about, then went to the dentist, pulled out my wisdom teeth and the lump is still there. It's been about a year since then. I been trying to get an appointment with the oral Surgent but I have not been able to get in touch with him. I'm worried because I've had it for about 3 years total but lately I been having headaches and I'm not sure if it's because of a new medication I started but I remembered about the lump and started messing with it and now I'm freaking out again and wondering if it could be cancer! Please let me know how yours goes.

    Hello, im 25 male,im feeling so chaotic now..its been 2 months i have this lump/bump on mouth roof very small one..it went off when i noticed once and it came back again when i had some spicy food..it happend many times goes off and comes back again.. recently a week ago i had throat cold & cough.there is mild pain in my right ear and cheek below my eye.  I've lost some weight too sad the bump is still there and im having symptoms very similar to oral cancer..  im so worried, i've booked an appointment for dentist next week. Please let me know what it is.. neutral sad

      I have had bumps like that on the roof of my mouth and they come and go. I am going to see the oral surgeon on Thursday as I have burning mouth syndrome.

      Has your spot changed?

      I have the same bump it feels like a sliver when I touch it. What is yours?

      hey..I have the same lump from almost 2 months and it irritates me a lot..u checked from doctor?

      as a smoker from 20 years it worried me lot

      Yes, and he said he thought it was a blocked salivary gland. Mine doesn't hurt, it's just annoying because my tongue keeps going there. He said they sometimes take up to 6 months to go away but sometimes they just don't. Mine is still there after about 8 months and I went back and he still isn't concerned at all.

    Xanthoma? Cholesterol related. I would hope all oral surgeons were familiar with it and could remove it if you wanted.

    Hi fillyy, recently I have been noticing a lump on the right side of the roof of my mouth and a smaller flatter one on the left side. I remembered about a year ago feeling the lump as I moved my tounge around my mouth but it just didn't register that it could (could!) be serious. Now I am older and I am flossing (told to by dentist) and I am looking in my mouth more and asking myself are these things normal and I noticed that lump. I asked my mum as I am only 16 and she says ( like she does all the time) your fine there is nothing wrong with you don't think about it. As long as it isn't sore my mum doesn't think anythings wrong. I am worried myself as It has registered now that I could have oral cancer even though I am so young. I want to see my dentist or doctor but my mum says I'm fine I'm not complaining of any pain. I don't know what to do? Should I say I have pain just so I can go? Or do I tell the truth and keep nagging bed orrrr do I just leave it and see what happens if it goes away or not.

    I would be grateful if someone could get back to me

    I don't know, let me know what yours was. I just found mine just two days ago. It is hard, huge and painful to the touch. It actually feels like there is bone underneath but of course my palate is there so duh. Help!

    I've had a hard, painless lump on the right side the roof of my mouth for I think years now. It's the same color as my mouth so it's hard to see. I haven't really worried about it before but my anxietys been bad and it's freaking me out. I have no other symptoms.

      I wouldn't worry about it. I have the same thing and was told it's a blocked salivary gland. They sometimes go away and sometimes not. I've had mine for 8 months and have had the oral surgeon check it twice and he isn't concerned at all. It's just annoying more than anything because my tongue goes there! So relax, because that's what I plan to do!

      How are you doing? Mine is still there, but doesn't really bother me and its been two years now.
