small hard lump on roof of mouth HELP

PLEASE HELP.

Just a quick bit about me, I'm 20, female, smoker of 5 years, trying to quit as pregnant now.

I've had this small lump on the roof of my mouth for at least a few years now from what I can remember. It's never bothered me before but a couple months ago I ate something that knocked it and I noticed it was there again, and in the past few years I have become increasingly anxious. Anyway I was terrified it was oral cancer. It's only a few mm and I'm not sure if it's white or pale or just the colour of that area of my mouth.. It's hard and doesn't move as far as I can tell with my tongue and its about 2 mm off center right on the part where the hard palate changes to the soft palate.

It's quite hard to notice I think, I've had braces since and the orthodontist or dentist has never mentioned it..

I got so so anxious about it I finally made myself go to the doctor and got her to check it out, she said she wouldn't worry about it and that it's probably just a build up of tissue where the two palates meet so I decided to try and forget about it. Then the other day I knocked it again and noticed it, it's still pretty much the same as far as I can tell, maybe a teeeeeeny bit bigger but I'm not sure if that's just where I've been playing with it or what. Anyway now I'm terrified again. I'm not sure if it's because it takes loads for me to be reassured and she didn't seem all that experienced or the fact that I've had quite a bad experience with doctors in general because they give me so many different answers, but I've literally been panicking constantly to the point I can't sleep again even though she said it was fine. I've made an appointment with another doctor for a few days time to get a second opinion.. I'm scared for a few reasons - if he says its fine will I believe him? If he says its fine but then says to get it checked by a specialist to ease my mind I'm worried he'll just be saying that and thinking it is actually something serious and finally I'm worried he'll say to go and see someone because it is serious! ALSO because I've had it for years, what if it is serious and it's two late?! I read that only 50% of people with oral cancer survive past 5 years sad

I'm so so scared, I've got a little boy on the way and I just can't stop stressing over this but I'm worried even if it's fine I'm still not going to be reassured.

Please help sad

A couple of months ago I got a red blotch on the right side, roof of mouth and it was sore. It then healed over after a couple of weeks and now I have a painless lump there, that looks like the rest of the mouth in color, but I worry about it at well. Anyone else have this?

Well I still have it after a couple of months and will see an oral surgeon in a week and a half. I'll let you know.  Mine doesn't hurt, but  my tongue gets sore, maybe from always feeling it?

I can feel it with my finger or tongue. It's next to my teeth. I am praying for good news!!!

No, its still there, but doesn't bother me. Maybe in a few months i may have it checked again. i think it was stress related and am doing a better job at trying to stay calm.

The doctor originally thought it was a stone and should go away within 6 months, but that didnt happen, but like i said it doesnt really bother me, other than my tongue touching it.

i will update if i go back for a check up.

Did you start with a sore though? I had a sore that cleared and then a bump appeared and it doesn't hurt, but it feels not quite right.

I just got back and it appears that was an infected salvary gland, and they can take up to 6 months to heal!!! Yea!! I said that although it doesnt hurt, I can definitley tell it's there and he said it was normal.

So perhaps you can now relax too???

Not sure about how to go about that, but let me know if you do.

I know he said cancers are rare and we all tend to worry, what ends up being a simple problem. I just ordered the book by Vincent Peale, "the power of positive thinking". I never used to work myself up, but I have been the past few years, and I need to learn how to center myself, and so do you.

Did you go see a dentist about it?

Has it changed or stayed the same and how long have you had it?

My doctor didn't need to do a test and looked and it good and said that it looks to him like the typical salivary gland that got infected and they take a long time to heal.

He told me that they can remove it, if I wanted and some people have them removed, but it should heal up in time.

I realize this is an old post but do you have a torus that had an ulcer? Did it go away? I have had a tori as long as I can remember but 3 months ago it got a fluid filled blister on it and after having an infected molar pulled it went down but it's still sore. Any ideas how long to heal anyone? I know the skin is thin over these but I can hardly eat it's so sore. Any help appreciated
