Small red spot on penile head?

Posted , 48 users are following.

Hi everyone, I've had two red spots on my penis now for about a month and I'm not quite sure what they are. There's absolutely no pain or itching, nor do they seem to be getting any worse. However, they haven't healed for a month, even with me abstaining from self pleasure. They have a silvery sheen to them when put under light, and they both feel "rough" to the touch, although malleable.

I should also note that I had not had sex at all, so any STD's aren't really viable here.

What do you guys think, is this serious, or will it pass in the next few weeks? Should I go to a dermatologist just to be sure?

I have this as well.. It is not an STI.

From what I have researched, and the pictures I've seen that are similar.. It is thrush.

I am going to try anti fungal (athletes foot) cream for a week, and see if it improves.

This would make a lot of sense, because I do have a persistent issue with Jock itch that keeps coming back.

It is basically a male yeast infection.

    Good luck gentlemen.

Yup, the anti fungal cream did nothing..

Seems more like an eczema as the below comment suggests. If it doesn't clear up on its own after some time, a mild steroid cream may be prescribed by your doctor.

      Hi dan98199,

I’ve got the same thing and tried Lotrimin AF cream for about 3 weeks with no success. The more I read about this the more I continued to think it was some type of fungus. A home remedy that kills fungus is vinegar.  I have some white vinegar with 5% acidity that I applied to the spot, it instantly started to breakdown the skin of the spot. I probably should have diluted the vinegar but I just wanted the spot gone. I continued to apply the vinegar twice a day for a week until the spot scabbed up. What ever it was, the vinegar seems to have gotten rid of it. The only issue with using the vinegar is that it will burn after it breaks the skin of that spot, and it will leave a scar. I’ve been nursing the scar now for a few weeks by applying alcohol to the area with a q-tip. The scar does seem to be getting the normal skin color back... I’ll update my status in a few weeks.

      It was indeed an eczema.

Used Clobetasol topical cream 0.5% for 1 week, and its gone. REJOICE!

    Hi guys,

I came back to my home country and visited a very professional specialist. He said it is actually a symptom of eczema. There is absolutely NOTHING to worry about it. Sounds like it is quite common. He mentioned it is not necessary to wipe any medicine on it, just keep it clean and dry, use the hair dryer to dry the penis head after showers. Hope this would help! He also mentioned DON'T use any shower gel and shampoo on it. Wash it with WATER ONLY.

How many days or weeks did it take to clear? because i am still seeing mine but at least there is a little improvement now...

As long as you keep it clean and dry, it shouldn't take too long. Nonetheless, it still depends on your living habit and the condition of your bodies, such as wear short and "draughty" pants as often as possible instead of suit pants or jeans. The MOST important part keeps it CLEAN AND DRY all the time, if it is not hurt or itchy, you shouldn't have to worry about it too much. Leave it alone and give it some time to recover itself. Good luck to you.

Approximately a month a go i got this same thing. Very interesting so many have the same issue with no real diagnosis or treatment.

Same as others. No pain. No itching, no nothing. Just small discoloration, mine is somewhat banana shaped.

I’ll follow along and see how others fair in this situation.

Only thing i started a month ago was paddle boating in a new man made lake and of course you get wet.. its a funky lake so with others says bacterial maybe so..

    ???

      Its eczema.

Use Clobetasol topical cream 0.05% for 1 week. Cured mine.

      Hope that helps.

besides going to the doctor do you have any other ways of getting rid of it because it literally came out of nowhere

Not exactly what i had when i joined this thread, yours is larger, but seems slightly less raised. And same general area. Rest of the description fits.

The best reply i got from a doctor was a "skin tag." STDs , all negative. Purely superficial and unexplainable. Mine went away on its own after a month and a half i think. I actually had a second pop up right after, and next to, the first. But it began to fade after 3 weeks, and gone around 6.

Wish i had better news. If you still have it, with no changes, after 2 months, I'd check with your doctor to be sure.

Mine is doing the same thing. It acts like its fading but then will pop up right next to the first one as a brand new raised spot. So, there is nothing we can do about this?
