Smelly gas like sulphur and rotten eggs

Hi all. So embarrassed but don't know what else to do. I actually am getting seriously depressed as It Is so bad.

I have been getting really bloated and pass the most foul smelling gas ever, it stinks and lingers in the room. I'm having to air my bungalow every evening.

I eat relatively healthy, excercise regularly and am slim.

This has been going on solidly for 2 whole months. I have tried eating different things but i just keep getting this awful smell! Sometimes I feel like I'm going to shit myself!! I can't have people over and am scared to go out when I know I'll be in a small space. I gave up my job!!

I have had to do a stool sample, all clear. The doctors just say I have IBS. They gave me colofac (mebeverine) which did nothing! I don't know what the hell to do!!

PLEASE HELP

I feel your pain.  I am not going to analyze anyone's journey through this problem.  what I am going to do is just share what I have done for myself.  If you wish to try it, then see if it will help you.  I grew up in another country where fish, shell fish, veggies, fruits, legumes & root crops are staples of life.  Living in the US are a big change to what I eat.  I am lactose & gluten intolerant and so I keep my diet practically fruit/veggie, small almount of red meat because I get terrible foul gas.  I also noticed that the Ramen noodles are no-no & so is the fat from oak tail.  Being the chef in the house, my husband really could cook but in a matter of two weeks, I have foul gas just from Ramen noodles & heavy fat from oak tail.  It is documented that as we grow older our digestive system could not take the beating that it used to get when we were younger.  So, I believe that each of us should just monitor what we eat and if there is something that we woul like to eat, just eat in moderation or a tiny bit to satisfy our desire for comfort foods.  Thank heavens . . .  I still can eat fish/fruit/veggies/shell fish/legumes . . . I do clean my system with two bunches of parsley,  I make about a gallon, keep part in the frig to drink at night until finished.  The greens, I add all the veggies in my frig, + canned stewed tomatoes, etc.  Nothing is wasted!  Good Luck to you all!

I just now came across this post. You may not even be answering now. But I think I'm having the same issue you were/are. My gas has been BAD the last 2 or 3 weeks. Sometimes it'll be bad a day or 2, so this excessive. And it's like a thick cloud that lingers for up to 20+ minutes. Makes people gag. Hubby says I should get it checked out. I don't eat anything different than I normally do. Did you ever get an answer? Maybe it will clue me in.

Sorry this is a late reply but I've stumbled across this thread on Google while looking for somewhere to share my revelation!!

My boyfriend had the smelliest gas. Like yours it was Sulphur-y and i found it horrific to wake up in the night, every night because his farts stunk so bad!

I decided to try probiotics, had him drinking 1 Actimel every day and the results are amazing. I haven't smelled one since! Yes he farts the same but no smell at all! This is after just one week. I'm so impressed!

Hope it works for someone else!

I've been following this topic for over a year now and i read almost every post in it. I found it looking on google, since i experienced the same symptoms. I've been constipated my whole life and a year and a half ago, this thing shifted to going daily and having loose stools (not diarrhoea). Took various meds, went to a gastroenterologist, made stool test, blood tests, everything came clear, not coeliac, not a malabsorption, just a sensitivity to lactic product. I gave up these, i got less bloated but still the smell was there, especially in the evening. I gave up garlic, onion, red meat, eggs, spicy food, raw vegetables, pastry foods, sweeteners, carbonated drinks but still these symptoms were not leaving me alone... Of course i received a ibs diagnostic. Long story short, a friend insisted i visit his doc. This is when things changed. This doc was a chiropractor, so he realigned my spine, my hips, my ankles etc. everything. I'm no longer bloated, my digestion improved, almost no smell, most of the times no smell at all, plus my circulation through my legs got better, i no longer have cold feet. I've gained my life back. Everything i have to do is exercise in the morning and the evening (specific type of exercises). All i'm saying is if you tried everything and nothing seemed to work maybe you should give this a try and go see a chiro. Best wishes! (pardon my english, not a native speaker)..

I have had with IBS since I was a teenager that I can remember.  I am not sure if it wasn't before then.  I have basically gave up on eating over the years because it created so many problems  The more different things I try the smellier my gas is.  This wasn't an issue until I started trying to eat.  I am taking so many lactaid tablets, Beano, tums, probiotics, fiber a prescribed medication and it seems to get worse instead of better.  I got a new diet to try called fodmaps and that doesn't seem to be working either.  I still do not eat a lot and am pretty depressed.  A lot of my issues stem from nerves which is another problem.  I will definitely see if I can give a chiropractor a try and see if that may help.  I am at my wits end.  I have not worked in five years now and don't know what else to try.  I like to get more information to try things if the chrio doesn't work.  Thanks for all of the postings.  I also have tried charcoal and that did not work either, apple cider vinegar  nope just about everything you can think of .

Hi. Thank you for your info. I find it quite interesting that your bloating, digestion and smelly gas improved after a reallignment of your spine, hips ankles, etc. I am wondering what chiro you saw? there are good chiros and bad. So I have never had an issue with digestion or food and no one in my family has. For my entire first 35years of life I was completely without any issues. My problem started shortly after a bad car accident in which I was rear ended. I started having severe, painful bloating of the stomach, smelly gas, etc. It would happen so often and I would keep journals of food but nothing would improve it. My stomach would bloat out like I was pregnant. The issue got worse over time. Its now been 2yrs+. There has been alot of stress as because of this car accident my body was not the same (back pain, etc) I also lost my job and my life has not been the same since. My hips, back and neck are just not right. Long story short...as I sit here today typing-every 5minutes or so I will pass silent gas that smells so bad it could kill anyone near me. It has become a serious problem. THe more I investigate/research online the only conclusion that matches is IBS. I know my body though and I find it odd that this issue started right after my car accident that affected my allignment. My life is a mess now and on top of the pain I have to deal with the gas that smells ridiculously bad. So then I read your comments about being realligned and it has me thinking. Could this all be because my body was banged out of allignment. Did anything happen for you that would have caused a misallignment of your body? Its so hard for me to find a real doctor that cares and does not just have me keep coming back in the cycle for $$$ prescribing me to different things and making false diagnosis. Any info would help and thank you so much.

I forgot to mention I saw a friend I had not seen in years who is a yoga instructor and the first thing she mentioned to me is that my hips are completely unalligned from the last time she saw me..she could tell by the way I was standing, walking etc.

I just saw your post.. i am unsubscribed at the moment. Well, nothing special happened to me, i was just stepping foot wrong, and that misplaced my hip joint. When your hips are not at the same level your spine will curve in a bad way and bc of this nerves traveling through it will be damaged or at least messages sent through them.. seem logic enough and i think it deserves a shot, but unfortunately i can.t help with a good chiro recommendation since i live in Europe. Only thing that i know is that the movements performed by the chiropractician are not supposed to be painful. Also, yoghurt with active cultures might help, or pill form probiotics, good fats and fibres (taken gradually), enough water, but this is almost common sense. Of course, stress plays a big role, other people have said it before, i am just reaffirming it. Try cutting stress (if it does exist) in other areas of your life, take things slowly and listen to your body. Most of the time things won.t improve overnight. I wish you best of luck!

Instead of trying so many different things to take, just try taking a 50 or 100billion probiotic. See if that helps, and good luck. It helped me with this problem.

Thank you for your advice!  The probiotic was where I started years ago.  it did not help that is why I continued to try other things.

    Hi Again,

I was just thinking after someone had mentioned trying a chiropractor.  I had never thought of that before but I wonder if acupuncture would be a better solution.  Have you ever tried it?  I googled both and it appears that acupuncture has been known to help people with the same issues we seem to have where a chiropractor has helped some but it is not been proven to be the best cure (for a lack of a better way of saying it).  I will look more into this but if you have any knowledge or anyone else that is reading this can reply would be great.  I am desperate for answers.  I am tired of always being scared to leave the house for fear of passing gas or having diarrhea.
