oh i'm sorry this has happened to you. i've had that again and again. started with my thyroid (hashimoto's) and then continued with menopause. took me just about 20 years of saying how exhausted i am and how i struggle with weight, until they sent me for the right tests. and when results came back that my thyroid is in really bad shape, my then gp said, that that wouldnt be making me gain weight or be tired (huge eye roll). couldnt believe it. then exactly the same for menopause symptoms. was given a ton of medication from antidepressant to antipsychotic to beta blocker to asthma inhalers to acid blockers .... i tried some of them but then stopped. then finally saw a doctor who prescribed bioidentical hrt and life improved again. ive lost so much respect for doctors. now i see no reason to believe them. i check everything on internet and then decide myself what to do. its made me feel alone but impowered as well. i really wish you good luck. listen to yourself and do what feels right to you. big hug

HI Gypsy
Ive been on Levothyroxine for nearly 2.5 years now. I am on 75 mg. i have been gluten free for 12 years now. that was the first step to getting better and ive never gone back to eating gluten because that makes me feeltotally crap and bloated. tiredness and the feeling of being hit by a bus has unfortunately lingered over the years. BHRT improved anxiety, panic, sleepless nights etc etc and a general sense of well being.
BUT HERE IS MY SUPER EXCITING NEWS: for the ladt three months ive been taking 200mg selenium and 2000mg myoinositol a day (split in two/ morning and evening) and for the first time in years, i feel really good. i read these different studies online on how myoinositol and selenium can improve hashi symptoms drastically within six months of taking this combo. i checked with my endo (showed him studies that he didnt know about) and he said to go for it. i tell you, it has made me feel normal again - sometging id given up on. good luck!

thank you Gerry such great information I will look into all of it, I did hear selenium is great.. I am gluten free also , and also can't go back to gluten at all, it makes me feel awful. I never tried the levothyroxine yet but endo wants me to, and not sure if gyno will let me do bhrt cause had hysterectomy years ago for pre cancer cells on cervix and maternal grandmother had breast cancer so just chalked it up to I'm not a Candidate for it, but since it not the regular hormones maybe it could work, going to talk to doctor and see.. Oh and I have awful migraines that I never use to before all this.. So thank you again for all information.. Take care..

Hello Gypsy & Gerry, My pharmacist compounds an excellent supplement of iodine and kelp for the thyroid. It has made significant improvements for us. It seems like I’m the only one that has a pharmacist that compounds. Do either of you have a pharmacist that compounds? The name is Schott's Wellness Ctr. I think he sells them online, he also has a vitamin under the name of, Carlson’s, that he sells online. He has an excellent Supplement from Douglas Laboratories “Malic Acid Magnesium." He thinks Douglas is one of the best out there, it helps me greatly with my fibro pain. I understand what you mean about your Hashimoto’s and menopause, it’s like Fibro with Menopause, gasoline and a match;) I find that my my aches and pains became significantly worse when Peri stopped and Meno started. When my period was done for a full year. Do you both consume dairy, I think dairy is an agitator for anything. Hope this note finds you both doing well 😃

Thanks Lisa for all the great information on the supplements... Yes it feels like a double hit with the hashimotos and menopause together, I just think these hormones or lack of at peri menopause time increases all our existing conditions, I mean things are popping up I never new I had and become far worse, with the exception of a few things like migraines, I never had them but now I do.. Well anyways thanks again for the supplement info it can't hurt to try..

hi all, iv read all your replies and iv been in the exact same position, Dr's & even specialists have no clue about us, iv had every test known to man since 2012 and no one tells me its to do with the menopause so iv given up going and just try to get through each day the best i can, but its taken over my life and i feel ill never be the same.
jayne your not in the slightest bit crazy your just going through this horrendous time. Do you ever get the impression doctors just think wer exaggerating and just being over dramatic because thats how my dr looks at me when i last saw him ( dont want to see us stupid unsympathetic face again) .
sending you all a comforting crazy hug x

Hey Jaynie, I am so sorry you have had this experience and it’s terrible. I would definitely report both of these doctors to whoever The directors of the facility are . And also the agencies one reports a dr. to for gross negligence. Gabapentin is for fibromyalgia, I was prescribed that as I have Fibro, I didn’t take it but I think it’s used as both for any depressant and pain ? There’s an article online from Oprah Winfrey magazine about multiple meno symptoms and dr's ignoring the symptoms. Every symptom you described is in the article. Plus we all know it’s menopause, because we all have the symptoms. I would find an article like that and I would print it out and hand write a note and bring it into both doctor offices and give it to them personally. I’d also give a copy directly to again, the person/people that are directors of the facilities. How insulting, you would think it’s 1910! I'm sorry, but I am angry for you, I would not take this laying down! It's almost comical ...to my knowledge ...none of us on this forum have medical degrees ...yet we know more than the doctors. Again ...I am very sorry you had this experience, you’re not crazy. It’s like I’ve said before ...these doctors would be happy to pack us full of Prozac send us sailing off on a ship to Menopause island ...so they wouldn’t have to be bothered with us. I mean what is going on with the medical field that they insist on ignoring the multitude of symptoms of menopause. Completely baffling and discerning ! I don’t know anything worse than going to the doctor with horrible symptoms, that are real, NOT in your head, and being told you’re crazy, when we already feel crazy. It really is a ridiculous riddle! Sending blessings your way 😃 You’re not alone Jaynie, we’ve all been there with these inept doctors !

I can remember going to see a lady gp who just told me you seem to be obsessed about your health! Another said mm you are having a rough time of it. Not once was i told its peri menopause i was experiencing, in the end a nice man dr was sympathetic, found out i had M.E. as well with it and candida. Think problem seems to be gps are a jack of all trades but master of none, if they cant help us or diagnose us properly then send us to a proper qualified person who can, i thought a simple blood test could diagnose the menopause, its jut they dont bother most the time. If they think we are going mad or its all in the mind arnt they like thinking or asking why it seems to be a certain age then this is happening and yes young woman can go through early menopause. too, ive got an 8 yr. grand daughter going through puberty poor girl.
Can you imagine the state of parliament if men went through this!. I personally believe many woman suffer so badly it should be a recognised health issue and there should be more financial help for us woman who really are to bad to work... Rant over lol
