Some pain, some bleeding

I'm 70 yrs old and 12 days since my turp surgery.  Spent one night in the hospital with a cath that was removed the next morning before leaving the hospital.   At times my urine is almost clear and other times it looks a dark pink.  Sometimes a few drops of what looks like blood when finishing up.  Most times a burning pain at the begining and end of urniation.  No sex yet, haven't tried, haven't wanted to.  I still get up frequently during the night and go allot during the day.  I think most of that it due to the massive amount of water I drink.  Was told to drink lots of water to keep things flushed out, it works.  Before turp it was very hard for me to pee at night and if I had been sitting too long, I don't have that problem now and the stream is way better than it was prior to turp.  I do tend to drip before and after urination, I do wear protection (depends) so not to soil my clothes.  So far I am happy I had the procedure, hope I still feel that way months from now.  I see the Doc in 18 days, I hope all is going as it should.

Doing better since I got out of the hospital (second stay).  It's been five days since release with no noticable bleeding and the passing of a few small scabs.  This morning I noticed some new blood in the toilet, not allot but a few drops of not quite red urine.  This is what began before my second trip to the hospital.  Should I see more of the same a call to my doc will be in order.

It is normal to see blood 6 weeks after surgery. But never hurts to call and ask to be sure.

I do have a call into my doc.  I have peed a couple of more times, the last time there was just barely a trace of blood.  I feel good about that.

No but I did have to go back into the hospital and get cleaned out so to speak,  This from a previous post:

Called my doc on Saturday 12/03 he met me at the ER.  He went in and broke things up, had to do it twice.  I was admitted to the hospital with the 3-way Foley catheter inserted.  The nurses worked with pushing and drawing fluid into the bladder to break up clots, amazing what I seen come out.  They did this twice a day for two days till I had a good flow into the drainage bag.  Once the doc was satisified with what I was putting out in the bag the cath was removed.  For the next 24 hours I peed into a urinal for observation.  Things cleared up and was discharged 12/07/16.  I slept real good last night at home getting up only once to pee, it was clear with an excellent stream.

Joe.......I feel sorry for you.  It get's me mad that you go for a procedure that is suppose to fix the problem but then they have to go and fix it again.  They should do it right the first time.  This is a bunch of crap. Putting guys through 2 or 3 surgerys to fix one.  I hope you get better soon...Ken

37 days post op, I feel like I am doing good.  Three days now without passing any scabs or blood at all.  Stream is like it was when I was 30, sure feels good to be able to walk up to the toilet and be able to pee, do it well and feel like I can empty my bladder.  I get up three times a night, take care of business and back to sleep.  Sure is better than every 30 minutes and not being able to empty.

Doing very well since turp.  Up 3x overnight in 9 hours of some pretty good sleep including @ 8:00 am when I got up for the day.  I have been wearing a pad liner that my wife bought for me.  Could not detect any leak / drips from overnight, first time for this result.  Still drinking a good bit of water all through the day having to pee about every hour and a half or so during the day.  Every so often when the urge to pee hits hard I will drip a small amount getting to the bathroom.

Good news 43 days after TURP!  Went to bed about 10:00PM and for the first time since my TURP surgery was able to attaine an erection and have sex.  I didn't know what to expect but the body was willing along with the mind.  All went well and when the time came to ejaculate there was plenty and it came out the penis the way nature intended with no pain just pleasure.  Now to add a second note.  Fell asleep rather quickly after final urniation.  Woke up once during the night @ 5:30AM to pee, flow was great and went back to sleep till 8:00AM.

Joe  I am very happy for you.  You have been thur alot over the last month's.  You are one of the lucky ones most of the time there is a 95% chance of retro but I guess you had a good doctor that cared to take his time and do it right.  .  Not all men are that lucky. Now you can enjoy your life and family.  Have a great holiday  Ken  PS.  Did the orgasm feel the same like before.

I'll have to say better than the last two years.  Reason I say that is I had been taking flomax for more than two years, the last year or more the doc was having me take the max dose, 2x what I had been taking.  That along with the finastride was giving me dry orgasm, the last six months there was no erection at all.  I think it was all due to the meds.  We are so happy, all natural with no help at all from that little blue pill.  This was how I remembered orgasm was when I was in my 30's, a huge explosion with lots of semen.

I'm very happy that you had a good out come.  I think it was the doctor He took his time to get ride of the problem without causes more.  He most likely stayed away from the bladder neck and that why you do not have retro.  Most doctor just go in and start cutting away.  It is a good doctor that makes all the differeance.  Have a very Happy Christmas maybe you should take a second Honeymoon and rest and enjoy life.  Ken

Thank you Kenneth and a very Happy Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year to you.  I will be taking it easy for the next couple of months at least.  I think the second honeymoon started last night.  No over doing it in that area, once a week would be wonderful for now.  Just being able to pee and sleep at night is a gift, the unexpected activity is a wonderful bonus.  Life is good.
