a year is a long time.

?i was dx and treated for gerd with no results by ENT no 1..  and it happened again and again.

?went back to ENT and had the little scope up the nose - he said i had Chronic lingual tonsilitus.  it is rare and the only two other patients he has with it, have auto immune disease like me ( i too catch everything that is going around and am sick for 8-12 weeks.  it's horrid and painful,. ppl who dismiss sore throats.clearly have not h ad one.   normally a sore throat only lasts 3 days.

?the ENT said the first ENT was young and probably had not seen CLT before. it happens after tonsils are removed which was when i was 5. i am now 60 and have suffered sore throats for a long time. but they are lasting longer and longer

    PAIN RELIEF. medication

    ?SEEK second opinion

?having said that, my mother had lost her voice and there is no reason, for it. but it came back. she has lung disease.  but no throat cancer. we were both sick at the same time. but she is never sick at 85.

I joined this site to reply this message i was facing this exact same issue, infact for over 5 months, painful experience, so many antibiotics. But suddenly i had a brain wave(Thats all i choose to call it), it just occured to me that i should try eating ginger (since ive tried every other stuff anyway). Bought some ginger (fresh ones), broke a piece of it, peeled the skin and chewed, i kinda let the the juice just slide down my throat more or less targeting the infected area (it gives a hot sensation, nothing too much though), when i swallowed the chewed ginger also i just did it slowly. about 10 hours later (Overnight), the sore throat is nowhere to be found, i havent found relief like this in months..... Anyway the same hunch that made me go try ginger also moved me to open an account here and share my experience, i hope it truly helps many many people cos i can relate with the experiences of people here. Much luv and God bless. Tunde Adepegba

Attention!!! This is how I won my 16 month Battle with thoat pain.

I've read all the theads and it's a lot of the same story, and what

I was going through too. I'll skip the details of the numerous remedies

I tried and failed with, and get straight to the term I hope you all become

Familiar with ASAP. So here it...... Histomine Intolerance......

That's it, Google that term and read every single word you can.

Get ready to be very confused about what you read. Here are tips

I can give that will help you....

    1. Learn about bacteria in your gut, and probotics that effect histomines.

    2. read all the food lists that are on the Internet, and avoid the bad foods that

    appeare on ALL lists.

    3. It's okay to Trust lists that say it's okay to eat something that is said to

be avoided On another list..... confused yet? It'll make sense soon.

** To clarify tips 2 and 3, you will find many lists of foods that state

What is okay to eat, Foods that should be avoided, and some that vary

person to person, if you See foods that are appearing in the avoid section

on every list, they should Definitely always be avoided.

    4. Your going to be really bummed when you read what foods you have to

Cut from your diet, but on a good note, I noticed massive results within

A week, and have been getting better and better for the last 3 months, it's

Almost completely gone, with only mild flare ups, that were my fault

for going off diet. I went from unchanging 24 hour discomfort for 13 months to

Almost unnoticeable pain, maybe for a few seconds throughout the entire day, or

if I've been talking for a long time.

I almost don't think about it anymore because I barely ever notice it.

    5. Stress was a big factor for me as well, exercise and positive thinking

    Can only do good.

    6. Stay hydrated. Drink lots of PH 9.5 water!!! Look for a water store and

Fill up jugs. Always have water on hand to sip on.

    7. Don't chew gum or mints or cough drops

    8. Get lots of fresh air

    9. Get A good at home air purifier and non flowering/pollinating house plants.

    10. Don't sleep with a heater unless you have a humidifier on. You want to

    Sleep in 45 to 60 % humidity.

    GOOD LUCK. Please repost this

    Hi Fata81908,

?I have been living with sore throat for 11yrs now. In the begining I had fever followed by strip feeling in my throat. Since that time until last year, I have been taking antibiotics, antiacid drugs and anti-ulcer drugs all prescribe by doctors but my condition remained the same. I later understood that long years of using antibiotics had negative effect on my body because I developed stomach ulcer which was because of the fact that the good bacteria in my stomach was depleted and the antiacid destroyed the lining of my intestine. Fortunately last year, I decided to stop taking every drug I was using and searched natural solutions. Here are steps I took that has helped me:

?a). I increased my stomach acid by taking apple cidar vinegar and lime juice. I understand that the increase acid improved digestion and constrict the valve of the stomach leading to the throat.

?b). I stopped the consumption of all diary products and soy because the increase blaoting of my stomach which cause the production of gas in my stomach.

?c). I am using probiotics to increase the good bacteria in my stomach

?c). I sleep with slice of onions wrap in bandage around my neck. It stops or dissolves extra gas reaching my throat area. This was my biggest breakthrough, for the first time in 11years, the sore has started to reduce in size. I see sign of healing because the skin around the wound in pulling or closing the sore.

?d). Finally, I sleep with my head elevated.

I will follow the discussion to give updates after some months. Wish you speedy recovery.

Sore throats can be caused by many different factors. Viral and bacterial infection can cause it, But also rare condition like Eagle's Syndrome or also Sjögren's disease (a systemic autoimmune condition). This are some possible conditions to discuss with an ENT doctor or dentist. Specially to rule out cancer. I found an over the counter losange that is clinically proven to relieve sore throats. It is Strepsils. A 2015 study revealed that this over the counter losange can kill viruses and bacteria. Which can help heal the microbial infection. Hope you all get to what is the real cause of your discomfort. God bless!!!                     http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0166354215002235

are you still suffering with a long term period of sore throat? This actually happens to my boyfriend too. He has been having sore throat for almost 7 months now. Been meeting different doctors and it was been told that there was nothing serious. The medications given also did not help at all. Have you find the cure for your problem?

I think i know what is going on with your situation. You remember the event/onset of symptoms.

Do you wanna hear what i think?

    • Posted

I tried sucking ginger, on the tip of my tongue and it really helped. However not 100% fixed. Went to the naturopath. They told me to have another blood test and eat healthier food. I will let you. Know my blood test in a couple weeks.

I still think i know what it is. I am in similar situation, and have lost years not knowing what is wrong. If you want i will tell you.

You said it all started after a visit to the dentist.  This indicates a damage to the peripheral neuro system or a vagus nerve damage.  I am a member of lpr( laryngopharyngeal) support group on facebook. This disease that has a sudden( tooth extraction, after virus infection,..) mimics lpr. Symptoms are almost the same: sore throat, troubles breathing, sinusitis,..

In this case, damage to esophageal motility/peristalsis has occured as a result of poor neuro function. Your esophagus cant clear acid or acidic material in time that is necessary to not cause inflammation such as sore throat.

But you have to confirm all that on esophageal manometry. Mine showed large peristaltic defects, more than 60%. So i am talking about ineffective esophageal motility disorder or IEM.

My blood resault done. And dr referee me to otorhinolaryngology. Thankyou  for your info Nemiren I will research this further.

How can I find out if I have a nerve damage? Also I don't understand how it can cause sore and swollen throat? My lingual tonsils swell so much that I have hard time swallowing food.

    • Posted

Funny, my lingual tonsils are swollen too. You should know that stomach content( acid, acid vapors, bile, bile salts, pepsin, and pancreatic enzymes) inflammes everything on its way, all tonsils, sinuses, throat and even lungs or ears(!). Ears-via eustachian tube.

Unfortunately, there is no test to determine damage to vagus nerve. You can only tell that by a) prolonged suffering that doesnt go away, b) sudden onset of symptoms, usuallly after an event.

Many doctors are useless with this condition, have no clue about correlation between stomach and throat, especially otolaryngists.

    • Posted

Blood tests dont show it. Otorhinolarhingists usuallly have no clue, you should see a gastroenterologist.

It is notoriously difficult to diagnose that problem, and even harder to treat. I hope you 'only' have a sphincter problem, not a peristalsis, cause this seems irreversible. There is no known cure to date for peristalsis once it is injured. We have two defences against stomach content from leaking into throat and airways-healthy peristalsis and esophageal sphincters( that can usually be fixed with antireflux procedures).

Hi, thanks for your reply. You know more than the doctors I have seen. Do you have the problem now. If yes, what are the symptoms? I have a wide range of symptoms. But the most concerning are the swollen lymph nodes in the neck, jaw area. My to sils were removed years ago so the lingual tonsils swell and are filled with yellow substance. I don’t know what to do, My life is like hell. All of it started last year around this time. But it’s another story. I’d like you to keep us updated if you find out anything, please.

I am not a bragging type of person, but regarding that problem, yes, i do know more than almost all doctors. I have spent thousands of hours researching this issue and also spent thousands of dollars for 'promising cures', that led to nowhere. But dont just jump into conclusion, i am just a worse case scenario( with an underlying neuro issue), you should test for h pylori, sibo and candida, sometimes it is these little creatures to blame. My life is hell too. I have sore thorat, enlarged uvula, congested nose and a crazy air hunger that makes me gasp for air every five to ten second. I did a lot of effort but still suffer inhumanely. I had to make an effort, once you cant breathe and are told that it is just in your head kind of crap by doctors or family members...you will do anything for your health.

Thankyou for more info Namiren and Christine I will keep researching. And I will get back to you.

Sorry about that. It's a real nightmare to go through throat problems. Today I've seen my ENT. SHe said my lingual tonsils are too much swollen and she sent me for an MRI with contrast. I'm so scared now. I already had an MRI of brain last year.
