Of course! No one should be threatening you ever, least of all when you are helpless and in a hospital bed. Totally unacceptable behavior.

WOW, nurses go into this job because of their caring nature; no one would do that job for the money !!! Have you ever seen how much abuse the staff are subject to on a Freiday/ Saturday night when the pubs close ?

I hope you have the nurses name and I hope you have another witness, definately complain until you get a suitable apology and a reason for this attitude.

      Hi Mark

yes I know   but some times I think some of them on wards do thing like this and wonder why they get a thump. I have to say A+E is different the nurses / docs seem to be more caring there. Well that is the way I see it.

There is no way I would do that to any hospital staff but this nurse came quite close to getting it when she leaned over me. If I hit her she wouldn't have got up. I don't slap like a girl I was trained to punch. I had to defend myself from an early age so I asked for help and got trained to do just that.

My experiences 34 years ago when our son was in hospital,

were terrible.. Nothing changes.. We were refused a second

opinion, told to go away because we were over anxious parents, our

son fell out of bed reaching for his bell ( he was in traction with a

broken leg). He called out in pain at night and was called a b..dy

nuisance, his Hickstead line was not connected..I could go on and

on.. I hate to think of that time..The staff are supposed to support

you NOT demoralise you, try to keep strong Hailea, take a deep

breath .. Nurses salaries are no excuse.. I witnessed a party in intensive

care unit, and 'making up' the records. Things will not improve if

patients are intimidated, and they get away with it, but maybe it is

wise to wait till you are safely home post op before you do anything.

      Hi cathie

      that is terrible

Having said that one of my GP's (thankfully now retired ) was no better.

2 years ago my son had to go to the GP he was 20. He is diabetic 1 and he didn't feel well. My GP fobbed him off didn't even read his notes to say he was diabetic. Sent him home he collapsed on my bed ambulance called raced down to A& E they fought 8 hours to save his kidneys. Lucky he survived. I have never had an issue with A& E here all very understanding and proffetional. Having been on other wards in this hospital I have to say I have NEVER had issues like this I was looked after very well and I enjoyed my stay. This ward is like living in a morgue it is miserable the staff never hardly smile I try to joke with them they look at me as if I had insulted them. I was on this same ward for my left hip it was not a nice stay but never as bad as this. I feel I just want to go home but I think I will talk to my surgeon first.

This hospital l sounds like a nightmare. Want one is it?

It isn't the whole hospital. Just this one ward. I have had other ops and stayed in other wards here and it was great everyone was happy and understood what I was saying to them I was here for my left hip last April. It was a sad place back then but nothing like it is now. It really is depressing like sleeping in a morgue. sad

Most definitely complain there is no excuse to be treated like that !!!!!!!

i know when I was in hospital the attitude of the staff was disgusting there was no "care" or compassion with them, I seemed to be an inconvenience with them - I only wish now that I had of complained.

      Hi Hailea

I really do hope it gets better for you, I am so glad I was only in hospital for 4 days, I still cannot believe the lack of compassion some of the nurses had, there was only really 1 that showed any sort of interest or compassion!  I had to go down to X-ray and I was thrown around like a piece of old meat, I was in agony and by the time I got back to the ward I was crying I was in so much pain, my daughter seeing the state I was in went and asked for some pain relief, she was met with a disgruntled, we're too busy attitude and she'll have to wait!  I waited for 45 minutes to be given some paracetamol, reluctantly !!!!!!

They were forever saying to me I should be up and walking instead of just lying there, how pathetic was I!!!! When I had to ring the buzzer, again I got greeted with "what do want now"?  😬😬😬😬😬😬

I know exactly what you mean, I was in to much pain and just wanted to get home to complain, I hope never to be back there! Xx

Carol I hope you complained, if people don't complain these nurses attitudes will never change. Complaints are always taken further with the people involved!
