    Hi washie

I can't really comment as I had surgery followed by RT. What I would say is have a discussion with them about the RT ie are they going to target the nodes as well as the prostate

    Good luck

    Hi,

Others have answered the staging question. If you have radiotherapy it will include the prostate, seminal vesicles and nodes in the treatment fields.

It is always disconcerting that we often come away from consultations with more questions than we had at the start of the appointment. Sometimes a good idea to write down any questions you want to ask, and write down any opinions given during the consultation. Always remember you can ask for printout of your records.

As we are all stressed under these circumstances, it is often difficult to take everything in.

The consultant did not really spend a lot of time going into figures and stats..I also could not understand him that well, which did not help things .My wife was there taking notes. My specialist nurse was also present  . I get on really well with her and can get the fine detail anytime . I learned most of what I wanted for now.Am going back next week to nurse and will get copies of everything.Waiting for appt with oncologist, hopefully next week.  Thanks for your wise words ,it's better to be sure than sorry.                                       Washie

Hello Lisa.         Diagnosed last October ,PSA 168. Not offered Surgery, Radio or Chemo I assume because of spread O/S prostate.  Just on hormone treatment  ( Zoladex) After total of 5 PSA tests latest no is 2.5. Have not seen Urologist since  diagnosed just nurse who says she pleased with results. Only problem since day one is having to pee more often and feeling tired most days . I have appt. with Urologist in3 weeks time and will ask many questions.

Thanks for your reply . My dad only found out he had aggressive  PC last week, pas 24 Gleason 9 with spread to lymph glands it's T3BN1 what ever that means, he's having a CT scan tomorrow just preying for some good news. Drs have started Hun on HRT, not sure if he will get radiotherapy or not.  Have Drs told you what your prognosis is?   Think I'm still in shock  ??

Lisa---- my earlier conversations with Meds suggested my condition is incurable ! But is treatable perhaps for years. My coming meeting with Uro. after months on Zoladex will be interesting.                                                     Keep in touch.      Washie

I'm not sure which HRT dad is on I'll find out when I see him & let you know. Has it spread to your bones? Or has it just stayed in your lymph nodes? Sorry for all the questions. Just greatful for any advise, especially positive advise

Spread is to Nodes in groins,   seminal area, and tummy only. Nowhere else at diagnoses. Scan should show more ,so just get all the information you can . My advise at this time is to get someone to go with him to Meds, write down questions and get them to fully explain everything.       Washie
