    Hi All

Just joined this forum after I started taking the tabs and found everyone's experiences a great support. Here's my details.

    Male

    Age 41

    Weight 165kg

Started on tabs 4th Dec 08

First weigh in New Years Eve!!!!

So far I've kept to a very low fat diet (thanks to the tips I've picked up here) and the only side effects have been having to put another notch on my belt as my trousers have started falling down! Really interested in the results so far but I'm waiting for my visit to the docs to find out how much I've lost - I'm refusing to use my scales. Will let you know how I get on.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hi Everybody,

Had a weign in on Monday - heres my stats to date

    Age 46

    Height 5'2\"

    Started May 20th @ 15st 8lbs

    Weight Nov 19th 13st 10lbs

    Weight Monday 22nd Dec 13st 8lbs

    Total lost 2 stones

I was really pleased with the 2lbs loss over the month as I had had a really bad cold and not eaten properly over 3 weeks and not done any exercise - so at least it was a loss - another 4 packs of BUTTER off.

May I wish everyone a brilliant and hopefully low fattish Christmas and a lighter New Year.

Well done to everyone so far and good luck to you all over the festive season.

    :cracker: :holly: :xmastree: :bubbly:

Stumble on this site and I am glad to see that I am not alone. I had an epiphany three weeks ago at Boston Internal arrivals, when I thought I was passing air only to see oil dripping from me. Since then I have become even more cautious when and what I eat, because I discovered that red grapes also helps.

This was the advice I was given

    [i:c8b45d72a6]Dietary Implications

Multivitamin supplements that contain fat-soluble vitamins should be taken once daily at least 2 hours before or after the administration of orlistat (ie, bedtime). Distribute the daily intake of fat over 3 main meals. Gastrointestinal effects of orlistat may increase if taken with any 1 meal very high in fat.[/i:c8b45d72a6]

    well done to everyone xx

    Hi There,

I too have fallen off the wagon!

But today is a new day, so I'm staring afresh, whats done is done, no point dwelling on it, or, to put it another way, if you had a vase full of flowers, and some had died, would you throw the whole lot out?

Think of the success you've had, and start afresh, and most of all,

    Good Luck!

I'll sign up here too, I know I've put weight on!!! eeek

My doc is going to be so mad at me, but its not my fault .. honest ... The tin of roses fell into my shopping trolley all by themselves and it looked at me with big puppy dog eyes that said 'buy me'

I asked friends and family not to buy me choccies and nice yummy things for xmas and they still did!

It would of been rude of me not to eat them all *ahem*

but come on peeps .. its one week of the year that its xmas .. New Year very soon, we can all get back on track and start knuckling down and behaving again smile

Don't be feeling down, dont be hard on yourselves .. we might be overweight but we are allowed to live and enjoy ourselves

    No regrets eh

    *group hug*

    Hiya Salgor

Sorry but I have to comment, I'm a little shocked

you've said your starting weight was 42.82kg ... thats like 6 and half stone

wowsers .. your doc gave you orlistat???? thats like unbelievable woooh *scratches head*

I'm hoping you've made a typo with your starting weight .. otherwise I would strongly suggest that you stop taking the tablets or you are going to be making yourself ill sad

Sorry to all you peeps but im really going to vent off here, ive been on these pills since Dec 1st, never missed one, never been 'bad' with the food - really played the game according to the rules, kept a diary of everything to pass my lips to the point of obsession, if anything probably not enough fat being eaten but to be honest, this is my NORMAL eating regeime, and you know what? a slight gain, then back to where i started - really P**&&ED off with this, whats the point? im a bloke with 33 BMI and a 'healthy diet' Im begining to think these pills are for people who have problems sticking to a food plan so it punnishes them with the side effect, by the way i had NONE of the effects.

I was so serious about this i even gave my boss a heads up about what was happening in case i had to dash out of meetings. thats not an easy conversation for a bloke in a factory!!!

Sorry to rant - just feel really let down and ripped off

Ripped off in what sense?? Didn't you get them on prescription?

It may just be they don't work for you..

I have lost a total of 15.5kg in 3 months and have basically stuck to a sensible eating plan.. The tablets MAKE me eat..when I didn't before..(BMI went from 53 to 49)

Have you spoke to your doctor or to the MAP people about it? Maybe you are meant to be the size you are?

    Hiya Size66

I personally think you have hit the nail on the head regarding your own experience with Orlistat

you already followed a low fat diet and eat healthily so Orlistat are basically not having any effects for you

For me when I'm 'bad' its normally down to chocolate - high in fat, so I get side effects .. the orlistat \"punishes\" me for eating chocolate so I think twice before having chocolate again, therefore Orlistat works for me

You do well with your diet then blow it in one fail swoop by drinking (at least twice you've posted that you drink) .. lager is 'bad' too, but you get no Orlistat side effects, so I feel your not even recognising the fact your being 'bad'

I'm sorry to be so harsh and blunt, but yeah maybe your better off not taking the orlistat .. or try going a few weeks without the beer, I'm betting you would see surprising results there

regardless of what you do good luck I hope you find something that works for you smile

Maybe your right but the Doc only told me a bout fatty foods to avoid, which is easy as i dont really eat any and do all my own home cooking - never a boxed mean or take away for me ( its dead cheap this way ) Doc never mentioned me pints! so what you saying is that i can be an angel week and when i do me socialising at a weekend all the good work and sensible shopping its all for nothing?? ( maybe thats why the dietician said drink vodca or champangne ??)
