Still bloated after gallbladder removal?

Hello guys it's me again. So I have been having a couple of issues after my gallbladder removal on August 5th. My stomach seems to feel very full now. This happened maybe 3-4 days after my surgery. I also started getting nauseous. But what bothers me the most is this bloated feeling. It's very uncomfortable and I can't eat much because I feel so stuffed and the nausea makes it worse. If I do try to eat my stomach literally feels like it's about to burst and it makes it hard to breathe. I've been walking here and there maybe 20 blocks each time as I was told walking will make the gas leave. But I feel so bad I'm not sure if anyone has experienced bloating this long? A friend of mine said her bloating and has left in a week. Is it possible to take ginger ale to help me burp, maybe gas x, anything? I just want to feel good again and I honestly feel sick. Don't think I'm constipated and I've been having bouts of diarreah and soft stool.

Hi
I had my GB removed on the 18/7/18 and so far I've not had a great time. I took an allergic reaction to something??and was covered in a rash from one side to the other side of my whole stomach. It was so itchy I could not sleep or sit still with it. This has now settled with various strong antihistamines. I am now 10 days after op and bloating is awful. Bowels are fine and no sickness so that's a bonus. Just wish the bloating would go I have my daughter's wedding on the 26th of August and need to fit into my outfit

I had gallbladder removal surgery back in November of last year. I have pains in this area on & off because of scar tissue the Dr said. I found a great digestive enzyme through an awesome company called Wellness Resources, where I also purchase other vitamins & minerals for my health. Re: my story, I was seen in the emergency room at the hospital for stomach pains. 2 hours later I was admitted to the hospital for surgery the very next morning, because they said I had gall stones and a large one was causing a blockage, which is why my gallbladder had to be removed. This happened last November. I had a rough time at first but in the months that followed I got better. You may experience very loose stools after you empty your bowls, even years after surgery. You’ll find that you can’t tolerate greasy, or spicy foods the way you used to also, yet these enzymes I take before meals helps this significantly so. I had to discover this myself, and it works for me. Otherwise I’m back to my normal life, and I don’t have problems with my gallbladder area any longer, other than what I’ve noted here in my text. I wish all of you the best with your healing & recovery.

I had my gallbladder taken out in April of 2017 because of infection or so they say.
I left the hospital with a huge bloated belly and an area beside my belly button on the right had a huge egg shaped bump in the bloat. I also had horrendous smelly gas !!
I had a gastric bypass done in Jume of 2016 and I felt great. I lost 80 pounds and didn’t have a single stomach issue except for a bit of nausea if I ate to fast. Today 17 months after the gallbladder thing I still have all the bloat and gas. I have had severe pain in my belly and have been seeing a gastroenterologist but to no avail ! Every day for 17 months I have this pain and all I can do is take a preavacid, take some gas x, and drink Pepto bismuth then I sit with a very hot heating pad on my belly for at least a half hour. This seemed to take the pain away long enough to do something or run errands. I am lucky I guess that I’m already on disability because this has severely disabled me !! My Gastro doctor keep telling me it’s constipation because I take narcotic pain relievers. A person knows when they are constipated and after 20 years of daily pain meds I think I’ve mastered the art of relieving this constipation !!! Lol
So on the 1st of July I puked up what I thought was a episode of acid reflux but this time it had a lot of blood in it. I went to ER and they got all snobby like they usually do about my pain meds and the opiate crisis. I was given a cat scan and some blood work and sent home b cause there was nothing wrong with me !??on July 4th at 3 AM I woke up and started throwing up blood ! My husband took me to another ER in town. On the way I kept throwing up until I passed out!
So I was admitted and they did an endoscopy and found a blood clot and some type of ulceration that was bleeding. I passed out because of acute blood loss. They couldn’t cauterize the bleed when they were in there so they watched me for a couple of days giving me blood transfusions hoping it would go away on its own. Finaly on the third day they went back in and cauterized the bleed and flushed the blood clot off my stomach lining. I was told that they think it was because of the stomach bypass.?
I have a problem with that because I was thriving afterwards for ten months. I had not one problem or symptom until they took the gallbladder?? So I’m home now and that awful pain in my belly is gone !!! But... I still have severe bloating, abdominal distention and most days the severe smelly and painful gas !! I have been trying to identify certain foods that contribute to this but it’s still a mystery.. the Doctor gave me a RX of sucralfate and Prevacid. The Sucralfate was supposed to prevent ulcers even though they told me this bleed wasn’t an ulcer !? This medicine completely disabled me because all I do is swell up worse than ever and listen to my tummy rumble and pass terrible long, smelly loud and painful gas !! It passes every couple of minutes. I eat a lot of rice and toast now and lots of certain veggies and I’m hungry all the time yet I lost 23 pounds in June and July and they say I am malnourished.? This was because of this abbess/ulceration ? Well duh ! A few months of being afraid to eat different things and trying to stay pain free can cause a significant weight loss. But now it’s fixed and I still have terrible bloating and that horrendous gas !
I forgot to say that one thing that helped in the beginning was cutting out any kind of sugar substitute that ends with the letters “OL” eg: sorbitol, mannitol and Isomalt ?? There is too many to list here ! It really did help a lot in the beginning. Please !! I will try all your suggestions and would like to know the enzymes names and stuff. Sick and tired of this !!!

Hi Lori, this is for you and all others whom would like to try what I’ve found that truly helps with the complications of the after effects of gall bladder surgery. It’s called: Digestive Helper and it’s from a Company called: Wellness Resources. It’s a broad spectrum digestive enzyme. I take one capsule before or during a meal, and it helps with the break down of foods as it digests. It’s amazingly helpful with all the problems we’ve all had after gall bladder surgery, and it really works! I found it in their catalog, as I’ve bern using their other supplements for years. I was also mainly bedridden for 27 years of my life from a bad auto accident and multiple pain meds, neurological meds., you name it, and the Doctors had me on them, for all these years!! Constipation was an ever constant problem for me, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, and 26 total diseases most of these diseases were from taking all the meds that my Doctors, Specialists, and Pain Clinicshad me taking!! I can’t tell my entire story here because it lasted 27 years of my life, but I can tell you that last year I stopped all the medicines , all pain meds, all neurological meds, all digestive meds, ( prevasaid, nexium, etc. which ppl’s do cause Alzheimer’s- no matter what western Doctors say!! Research Sweden as they are 15-20 years ahead of America in Scientific & Medical advancements). I practice Reike as pain relief, ( it’s a technique from Asia look for Dr. Makio Usu techniques- Book: A beginners guide), also I do deep relaxation methods, eating better, and regular exercise helps too. I am feeling better than I have for 27 years!! All thanks to all of these years I never gave up hope in myself and my faith in GOD! I was led to the answers I seeked for less pains or better yet no pains( I’m still keeping my faith in GODS direction) and to do all of this I simply stopped all medications from my Doctors, began practicing Reike, and all I’d mentioned above. Never give up hope!! I’m not religious but I am spiritual and I have full faith in GOD! He will guide and direct you if you ask and BELIEVE! I’m free of the multiple challenges & tortures I had no choice but to deal with for 27 years of my life of being in unimaginable pains, bedridden most of the time, and multitudes of complications from medicines I was given over these years, not to mention the many painful, scary, unhelpful pain clinic procedures that I endured over many of these years, of which these only caused me more problems & additional challenges!! All Because I did everything that my Doctors & Specialists told me to do! Western medicine is helpful in many areas of health, we can’t survive without them, yet when it comes to chronic pain, and digestive problems they seem to almost always resort to prescription medicines, and these long term meds are harming us more than they’re helping us!! If my pain & suffering will help one person on this thread, it would truly be a blessing. I’ve bern asked to write books on these subjects by many authorities, yet I’ve spent too much of my life thinking about pains, dealing with pains & health challenges that it was time for me to focus on life itself and all it has still in store for me, so I declined to write about these subjects. Yet, I am happy to share what I can ,where I can, like on this thread to share with others like myself whom are dealing with these health challenges. I hope this info helps you & others whom may read it. Blessings to all.

Hi i just joined because i had my gallbladder out bout 8 yrs ago and i still get symptoms, my stomach looks like i am 8 months pregnant, i have heart pain all the time, where my gallbladder used to be it feels lumpy, and i have a constant ache, i am constipated, sometimes its 2 weeks at a time, and i just feel so groggy all the time, my anxiety has gone through the roof and i just sound like a hypocondriac, sorry dont know how to spell lol. I am worried all the time thinkin my stomach is gonna burst, its not agony like when i had gallstones but anoying and niggly. I went to drs the other day and i told him my symptoms and then said i had my gallbladder out so its bot that, he was gonna say it sounds like gall stones, but did u know they can leave the tube in that can still have stones in it, when i had my gallbladder i ended up with pancreatitis coz one of the stones slipped into my pancreas, it was agony. I never thought i would still be suffering, but i have just been living with it, but its got worse recently since the dr put me on meds for my anxiety which give u the munchies, so i have put on weight, and now its just getting me down, the dr put me on omoprozol which actually give me bad heartburn and said try them if not u will have to go for scans etc, so i am going to get on to him next week and get a scan done, i wish they would just do this in the first place, to either tell u whats wrong, or put yr mind at ease. But mate dont suffer as long as i have, i have to takw breaths all the time, its horrible, just get on to yr dr as soon as mate and keep on at them to do a scan hun. Take care all the best n good luck hun. Karen x

I am day 11 post lapro surgery, one incision that is healing nicely, but the bloat is still bad. I am using the bathroom regularly, a bit constipated even with taking a stool softener an am passing gas, although, and I never thought I would say this, not as much as I would like too. Never was nauseous, and I my appetite is coming back but I am very careful about eating anything. Plus the bloating is causing minor pain on my left side now. I go back to my doc in a week for my post surgery check up. it also is causing me anxiety because of course I worry if everything is ok. Anyone have a similar experience?

Hi Mike I was referred to a gastric dietician and since have been put onto a FODMAP diet. I had never heard of it but I have lost most of the bloating by just being careful what I eat. I can't eat lactose and gluten together. I've changed to lactose free milk and cut back on the amount of gluten I eat and I'm enjoying the change. I can now pinpoint what causes the bloating and pain and wind have now both gone. Might be worth asking to be referred to a dietician but it needs to be a gastric one because they are more familiar with the symptoms. it is a form of IBS.Hope this helps you

I have written a post about my gall bladder surgery removal on a separate post. I had this surgery 3 years ago, & have had many challenges, yet I've learned to cope as best I can, & hope that something I've discussed will help anyone who is dealing with these post surgery complications. Best wishes to you all.

Are you feeling better now? I had my gallbladder out 5 weeks ago and have all the symptoms you describe - severe bloatedness feeling in my chest which never goes away, chest pain, nausea, diarrhea and soft stool. Worried about whether I will ever get my health back now as I was told I'd be back to normal in a couple of weeks.

My surgery was in September and I still get horrible bloating and trapped gas in my chest. I am not sure that is will ever go away, but I keep praying everyday that it does. I have found that the only thing that makes me not bloat is just not eating at all. I thought as I was also told that I would "feel so much better" after the surgery, but I pretty my feel the same. I never had any gall stones, but they said my gallbladder was barely functioning. So, I guess this is just life from now on. I get depressed about it at times bc I was so hopeful that it would work, but now I have medical bills that piled up and the same problem I had when I started. I sure am glad air has zero calories as that is the only thing that does not upset my stomach.

i this forum is really old. but im stressing over my father who had his gallbladder removed a month ago and yet i have taken him to hospital ER twice for small bowel obstruction and then it resolves on its own, but yet he still has the bloating problem. im afraid pf him being exposed to too much radiation with all of these ct scans.
im curious if any of you been feeling better after so much time has past? or what changes have u all tried?
im so worried and i hate to see him like this.
i have him taking probiotics as well.
but im thinking of ordering him some betaine i think its called. to take as a supplement.
hope someone can give me some advice
